I started coming to the midtown location earlier this year when one of my friends introduced me to the new therapist deal. I was lucky because I booked with Gilberto and he is the best! This place is a gem, they know what they are doing and really take the time to take care of you. Pros: they offer a new therapist rate and I highly recommend trying that out. It's $55/hour so it's worth a shot. I usually book in the evenings so parking isn't an issue. The front desk staff are professional and friendly. Booking is easy and I've had to change my appointments a few times which you can do through phone or text. Gilberto has taken the time to explain things and the areas he works on. Gilberto does an amazing job. I come in with aches and strains from my workouts, and he is always able to assess the problem and work his magic to get me relief. This review is specifically for Siara. I've been heading to her for a few sessions of deep tissue massage work. It's been heaven and hell all at once because it hurts so good. She's great! She asks you what your goals are but also is incredibly attentive with your body and can identify sore or stiffer spots to work on. She's as chatty or not as chatty as you want. I work out and climb a lot and I have consistent tightness in my upper body and hips. Working with Siara has made me a little more limber and it has reduced pain and tension in those areas. I have received deep tissue massages from the Mid Town location before and they have always been excellent. Today, I was in pain from a workout injury. I recieved a prompt phone call from the office which enabled me to schedule a same day appointment. The scheduler was polite and friendly. My therapist , Gilbert was knowledgeable, caring and helpful. He knew exactly which areas on my body to target to alleviate the pain I was experiencing in my sciatic nerve. He also gave me suggestions for what exercises I can do at home to prevent the pain and build strength in my core without hurting my back again. The prices are also very affordable. I really enjoyed working with Arynne. I had some really strange back pain stemming from my rhomboids up to my cervical spine that would also trigger to the front of my neck. I knew I needed an expert so i did some research and booked an appt for a sports massage. The lobby was clean and as I sat and waited for my time I noticed all very pleasant interactions between other patients and the front desk. Arynne called me in and I explained my concerns. I was very impressed by her honest expertise and attention to detail. I could tell she's very passionate about her work and that reassured me I'm in good hands. I've been coming to Active Bodywork for about a year. As a dancer, I was looking for a way to address issues on an ongoing basis and prevent future injuries- and that's where Dr. Scott comes in. He is their chiropractor at Active Bodywork and creates personalized rehab/prehab functional fitness programs. It takes about 5-6 visits at the start for the assessment but after your program is designed it's just a monthly checkin. Each month Dr Scott works on a different thing- sometimes it's rehabbing my knee, or progressing my deadlifts and improving my form, or crafting my mobility workouts to help me in my splits! Active Bodywork is great for athletes and non athletes alike- I feel so much better in my body and my day to day movement because of my work with Dr. Scott. They also have incredible massage therapists! I make a massage appointment for recovery from a big dance performance or as maintenance during training, and I feel comfortable going to any of the therapists because they are all professional and knowledgeable. Don't expect a "relaxing" massage- its deep tissue! Every time I've gone I've always learned something new about what I can do at home with a foam roller to address ongoing muscle tightness. They also do cupping occasionally - which I haven't personally tried myself but my husband comes here as well and was a skeptic about it at first, but genuinely saw improvement after cupping for his shoulder! And of course their front desk and office manager are incredibly kind, helpful, and understanding. Highly recommend! 5 stars. read more

If you love a massage therapist that cancels on you the morning of your appointment 6 times in a row and snobby front desk ladies, this is the place for you. I had a massage therapist there who convinced me to come twice a month for a while so she could work on some things, then we'd go to once a month. However, after our first session, she started canceling the morning of our appointments. The morning of my massage my phone would ring and my husband would laugh, "Here comes the cancellation call." and it always was!! I'd ask to be moved to a different therapist and be told everyone is booked for two weeks. One time I told the front desk lady "This is really frustrating" and she replied (no apology) "It's hard for everybody." I called to cancel my monthly membership and was told they would email me the cancellation form. A month later I got charged again. I called and asked why when they never sent me the form. She reread me the email that the form was sent to and they had spelled my email address WRONG. The lady on the phone was very short with me (again NO APOLOGY) and said "Well you had an appointment today and didn't show up so you got charged because of the email miscommunication." I said "It's not a miscommunication, you guys made a mistake by spelling my email address wrong. I shouldn't have to pay for that." To which she rudely replied "Look, I'm trying to help you." with the obnoxious tone that implied I was asking for something insane. No, lady. You guys made a mistake. You guys need to fix it. I went here for a while because I thought they were one of a kind. When I realized there are many other bodywork options in town with reliable & respectful service, I switched and have never been happier. read more

I even called last minute, they had a cancellation and got me right into the schedule. Bodie did my deep tissue and lemme tell ya it was an exceptional experience. My shoulder has been bothering me for quite some time, and I wanted a message not for relaxation but for pain relief. When I called to make an appointment, the lady who helped me, Tori, was very patient as I was telling her what I needed and found me an appointment. When I arrived, it was evident to me that they care about safety. They had reminders to wear your mask, took my temperature, and were wiping down surfaces. Sydney was my massage therapist, and I felt extremely comfortable with her. She is knowledgeable and talked me through what she was doing and answered all of my questions. My body has never been happier than when I went to Active Bodywork for a massage. My colleague/friend Emmie suggested I check them out because I was having a mobility issue with my shoulder. Overhead pressing motions like thrusters did not feel great and I'd essentially avoided them or super scale the weight. Emmie suggested I specifically see Fabian for a massage. I booked 60 minutes and was sad I had to wait a couple weeks. He's clearly a popular person and I'd find out why. He specialized in trigger point release and wheeeew buddy...did I feel it. I'm pretty sure I felt like a rock because I was so dang tight ... everywhere. But, he truly loosened up my muscles the most I've ever felt. And yes, he really fixed that nagging shoulder issue I was having. For that reason alone: five stars. read more
