I just got home from my first lymphatic drainage massage with Christina and I had to jump on and write a review right away!! To start off, the online booking process was easy and her studio is lovely and welcoming. When I walked in, she greeted me with a smile and we talked a little about what I was looking for. At the time of my appointment, I was two weeks post-op on my chin lipo. I had an area of swelling on my throat that was causing me trouble and I hated looking at it. In just a short 30-minute session, Christina reduced the size of the lump DRAMATICALLY! Take a look at the before and after pic I included. The top pic is from 3/17 and the bottom pic is from 3/18 immediately after the service. I looked into the mirror and I was blown away. It didn't even feel like she was using that much pressure! Let me start off with saying that Christi is very sweet. That being said, this was one of the strangest massage experiences I've ever had. Christi left halfway in between the massage for 5-10 to go to the bathroom(located on a different floor), which I have never had happen in a massage before. Usually massage therapists make sure to use the bathroom before or after a client, since they understand that clients are paying for every minute. I just laid on the massage table and waited for her to come back.. so strange. I thought this might have been a fluke, until my friend went a couple of weeks after and had the same thing happen to her. She said that Christi left in the middle of the massage to "go grab something from her car". She then said that Christi spent about 10 minutes popping her pimples on her back, which was uncomfortable, led to bleeding, and not exactly what you're looking for in a massage. Not sure if this was a coincidence or something else, but either way, I don't think I'll be returning. read more

Finding a good massage therapist in Sacramento is hard. The general choices are Massage Envy locations or Chinese/Thai storefronts (which look like something cops will raid any minute), finding a therapeutic massage therapist with advance muscular and body structure was difficult. Not only did I want to deep tissue, but I wanted someone who could do trigger point and cupping. Yes, I wanted a little pain, but the good kind that left you in a better spot than where you started. Then I found Christina! She is bright, knowledgeable and very talented. A little pain, amazing pressure and cupping skills that would make an acupuncturist jealous. The icing on the cake was safe location and parking that could be found in under five minutes! I'm a fan and now a regular customer. I'll never cheat on my new massage bestie. read more

I went to Christina for the Lymphatic Drainage session. I was two weeks post-op jaw surgery and wanted a treatment that would help with the swelling on my face as well as treating my body for the stress it endured during surgery. Christina did an amazing job. I could see results immediately after the session. The swelling went down in my face and I had more movement in my lips and mouth area. I'm coming post op surgery from Miami, it was really hard to find anyone to do the type of massage I need for post op care. After researching I found Christina! She's super knowledgeable and if she isn't familiar with something she'll let you know up front. Very personable, my first massage I feel we connected right off the bat I could tell she is truly passionate about what she does and for her clients. An excellent massage studio in Midtown, Christina did such an excellent job after my first appointment using a Groupon that now I see her every 3 weeks! This is something I have never done before, but I noticed such a HUGE difference in my overall wellbeing and stress levels. The thing that puts Christina at the top of her field is not only the knowledge of all the different types of massage, but they way she incorporates very high quality therapeutic grade essential oils into it. I found this approach to be very effective in helping me relieve the wear & tear resulting from regular exercise and the high stress level I have from my job and running my own businesses. On top of that, Christina was one of the most friendly and professional masseuses I've met yet and so communicative in both identifying problem areas and offering tips to work them out between sessions. The studio itself is superbly peaceful and relaxing with complimentary water, calming music, and aromatherapy. There is ample parking on the street so that is never an issue. Some background on me : I'm a paraplegic, I was shot in the back 13 years ago and it left me completely paralyzed from the armpits down. I am fully restricted to my wheelchair and have no movement in my legs or lower body at all. This makes moving my body extremely difficult and puts a ton of strain on my back and shoulders as I'm in a non-electric chair and live independently so every time I get dressed, get in or out of the car/shower/bed/chair/ect I'm over using my back muscles and arms. This means I'm in PAIN ALL OF THE TIME! I had assumed pain was just a part of my new life as a paraplegic and accepted it in my daily life. Christi offered me discounted services because I'm on SSI and couldn't afford a normal fee because she's truly amazing and cares about her clients as well as her business. She understands that building a rapport with a customer is more lucrative than one session fee. So even though I was skeptical I could ever be free of my back and shoulder pain I went to Urban Kneads and decided I would let Christi work her magic on me. I can honestly say I've never been so happy to have made a decision in my life. I went to her in November of 2012 and have had significantly less pain for the past 6 months. Not only did she do a great job at what she's trained in with the massage but she made her office accessible to me and my wheelchair needs. She didn't flinch at my scars that cover my body or get scared by my body's spasms when she put me on the table. Her touch and personality had me opening up about tons of emotional baggage I had been carrying since my traumatic shooting that led to my paralysis. When I left I felt like I had been emotionally massaged as well as had my physical aches and pains smoothed away. Christi was amazing to me, so I for Christmas presents I bought all my loved ones gift certificates to see her and they have enjoyed Urban Kneads just as much as I have. I just had my first massage (Urban Bodyworks) today, and it felt nothing less than amazing! Christi was so sweet and accommodating. She explained the whole process to me pretty thoroughly. :) I have some pain on the left side of my back, and my left leg, so bodyworks felt like a good massage for me! The ambiance was also very relaxing with calming music, water flowing combined with the massage put me in complete and utter relaxation. Urban Kneads also has other services such as the integrated hot stone massage! I definiately want to go back for a stone massage or another urban bodyworks in the future! Location: Retro Lodge Community! (New Location!) across the street from Naked Coffee. The location (only because I didn't re-check my email ahead of time) was a bit hard for me to find, as I ended up walking to the wrong building instead of the multi-level blue doors white building. Parking: I parked on the street(metered) closest to the building, which I didn't have problems getting being it was a mid-day/weekday. But, since it is mid-townish, parking can be hard to get, there also is the City Hall Parking Garage, which is recommended for parking in-case street-parking becomes to much of a hassle. Overall, wonderful experience for me, I highly recommend Christi, as I will definiately be back myself in the future for more massages. :) read more
