They were super nice here--complete opposite of the snootiness of Chow, where I drove here from. The huevos rancheros was tasty and the cookies by Blissful Spoon were nothing short of blissful. The counter person couldn't have been friendlier. I sat outside and it was super lovely. read more

Oh man. Visiting from the CA Bay Area we happened upon this place. YELP search term was "soup." :) You cannot possibly go wrong. I thoroughly enjoyed the lentil burger and my travel companion loved the butternut squash soup and some concoction of brown rice and black beans. (and other goodies) topped with cheese. They have everything a healthy eater and drinker could possibly want. If I lived here, I'd become a regular. No doubt in my mind. Byeeeee, y'all. read more

This absolute gem was a perfect lunch spot while exploring Bend! After a week of skiing (and drinking), this cafe had tons of healthy and delicious options to feel normal again. Pictured here are the half order of huevos rancheros (breakfast potatoes are the beeeest), Simple Salad, and berry smoothie (it's the acai for me). I loved the half order size availability for the huevos. It was exactly the right size for under $10. I was definitely full, but not too full that I couldn't enjoy the entire smoothie. The salad was BIG. We both commented about how we loved the size of the bowl. Allows for ample space to mix. And the smoothie metal straw was large too! Like the size used for boba. Made enjoying this drink easy and without the struggle of trying to suck a thick smoothie through a tiny opening. This was perfection. Hit all the spots. Prices were great too! I was expecting to pay much more like $15/plate. Location-wise, this was tucked away in a neighborhood with ample outdoor seating and an enviable succulent/plant wall. read more

Great food and very healthy feeling (I don't know how healthy it actually is, but I know it has a lot of fiber because it definitely will give you the toots!). My favorite is the wholesome bowl! The Bend location is super cute and has a nice rally nice outdoor patio. Fun for kids and adults, since they have cocktails! Yum! read more

Paid about $40 for two burritos and a smoothie. Took about 30 mins to get the food out too. Pretty crazy. Overall the food was alright. Brown rice in the burrito wasn't seasoned, plain black beans, some cabbage, mild salsa, and some sauce that was slightly tangy. I can make a better burrito at home for probably a 10th of the cost. read more

Food was AMAZING!!! I ordered the potato taco on corn tortilla and an Acai Smoothie. This was my first potato taco, it was well flavored with a unique seasoning served with salsa. The Acai smoothie had the perfect balance of flavors/fruits. Service - they had several employees, but only one cashier, so if the customers in front of you are still deciding it could be a while before you get to order. During Covid they had outdoor patio seating which is great because we stopped here during our road trip, so it is always nice to have somewhere to sit. The only disappointing thing is that they do NOT clean tables between customers. I witnessed a couple of tables where customers left and then new customers sat down. Bring your own wipes!!! Prices are reasonable. I would definitely eat here again!!!! read more

Great vegetarian restaurant! Converted from an old gas station, this unique restaurant was the perfect place for a late lunch. Parking was readily available in the parking lot and on the street. Indoor dining was closed but the patio (which extended into the parking lot) was open. The vibe was casual and relaxed. The menu highlights were posted behind the counter and the full menu was on the counter. A huge refrigerator lined one wall and was filled with all types of bottled and canned drinks. A large rotating gelato refrigerator displayed a huge selection of gelato. Along with our Pabst Blue River Beer and Drift West Water Kifer, we ordered the BBQ Burger and the Grassroots Burger. After receiving our number, we found a seat on the patio beside the children's play area. Our food was brought out to us after a brief wait. Both burgers came with tortilla chips and packaged in a recyclable cardboard container. The patties were super thick but the burger radius seemed a bit small. Surprisingly, they were very hearty and filling. I loved the BBQ Burger! The beet bbq sauce was amazing. My bf thought the Grassroots Burger was delicious. Customer service was friendly and helpful. Active Culture is absolutely delicious! I wanted to eat and try everything on their menu. We ended up going with the potato tacos and the breakfast burrito. They were both very good! FYI- Parking is a little limited, and you cannot park in the residential area or else you may be ticketed for 50 dollars. They also have an outdoor play area for kids. This is definitely a place to try if you are looking for some fresh and healthy foods. We will be back! read more

If you're looking for good vegan food, this is the place. I'm not vegan nor vegetarian, but for the lack of meat, this place was great! We got a breakfast burrito and the BBQ burrito and split them. The beets were a little overwhelming for me personally in the bbq burrito but the breakfast burrito with potatoes was good! LOVED active culture. My friend and I were looking for delicious vegan food with a patio and found active culture on Yelp. It did not disappoint! Vegan chili was amazing - kidney beans, garbanzo beans, carrots, total deliciousness. We had two salads and they were both amazing. The detox mojito was better than I've had at any bar. They have a cute outdoor with lots of tables. All in all a fantastic lunch, highly recommend a visit. read more

One of the best gems in our town! I could eat here everyday. While most of the menu is vegan, everything on this menu is delicious!!! I'd come here everyday if I won the lottery and had money to blow on eating out. Not too hungry? Don't worry, there's an entire wall of beverages from soda to beer to kombucha to wine. if i lived closer i would go here all of the time! i'm always looking for healthy food options for the days i simply don't feel like making anything at home and this place is the epitome of that! the salads were a very generous size, presentation was beautiful, and they are full a good variety of nutritious ingredients unlike most salads you find at your typical restaurant. there are so many things i want to try on the menu, am looking forward to returning again and again whenever i find myself in bend! read more

What a cool way to repurpose a drive-through/gas station/milk stand??? Came here twice, thinking I was just going to get ice cream, but was actually hungry enough for some real food. They have a creative menu, and while not cheap, it is good, wholesome food. The wait can be a little long, but it was worth it. Snagging a table could also be tricky, but people don't linger here too long. read more

I am not a vegetarian or a vegan but I love good food and this place is truly outstanding. A friend recommended it while i was in Bend, so I stopped and had a coffee and some kind of breakfast bowl or burrito. Very good. Next night my family-3 of whom are mostly vegans or veggie heads-asked me about it, and 4 of us went for dinner, and everyone got a different dish, and everyone was very full and very happy! read more

The not your mama nachos were delicious and the chips were exceptional. The chocolate shake with added peanut butter was rich and great. My husband said it was the best huevos ranchero he has ever had and he is one particular person. I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful neighborhood spot that has so much to offer! There is both indoor and outdoor seating so they can accommodate a lot of people without it feeling crowded or too loud. There are refrigerated drinks and some selected local groceries to grab or select something delicious from the menu. It took a long soaking in of the menu for me to order because it all looked so delicious! Many thoughtful vegetarian items and a display of cookies at the counter! Loved this place. There are a lot of things on the menu I really wanted to try. Ended up getting the wholesome bowl and it was great. We absolutely love Active Culture! The food is very flavorful with an array of options like smoothies, açaí, burritos, salad, veggie burgers, canned drinks and ice cream. They are very accustomed to specific dietary needs, so just let them know your allergies and they'll know if the sauce is something you can have. The OG sauce has no dairy FYI. Super friendly and fast customer service. The gentleman at the front was kind, as was the gal cleaning up the patio. The food was INCREDIBLE. Large portions of delicious and fresh food. It was such a relaxing atmosphere. Parking could be a challenge during their busier times, but we went closer to closing and did not have trouble. Traveling from Boise to camp at the Pine Mountain Observatory, I only had enough time in the morning to drive to bend for a decent breakfast before coming home. I came to Yelp and found what seems to be the perfect option for me with active culture. No disappointments were found as soon as I walked in to the quaint little bistro that had seating to the left, a local beer selection to the right, and the counter you order from right when you walk in. Plus, THEY HAVE GLUTEN FREE COOKIES! I ordered my huevos rancheros and asked for some help picking out a few local beers to take back home to my brother. When the food came, I was overwhelmed by the size of the full portion and understood why I was offered a half. The food was amazing, atmosphere was great, and the help was readily present. Explanation below Vibes are great, service is awesome. Coffee - so I love a good coffee or house made alternative milk-. Lone pines House Made Almond- Cashew Milk is AWFUL. They baristas tell you it's so good. FALSE. It's water, it's not a latte, the "milk" doesn't froth at all, the coffee separates from it and it settles weird at the bottom of your cup. It's water that doesn't even taste right. I'd rather have an Americano. It's a waste of their employees time to make their alternative milk instead of purchasing a brand name soy/oat/almond milk. Thanks for the response Scott but I've given Lone Pine a chance 5 times with the same experience. There's plenty of alternative milk brands that offer clean options. :)

I went for the next best thing I could find which was called the banana boat, and came top with espresso whipped cream. This thing was friggin bomb, I walked 45 minutes across Bend to get here and then probably drink that thing in 10 minutes before I ever made it back to my room. You really can't beat the ambience in downtown Bend, very pretty in a very cool place to walk around in. The outside seating area at this coffee shop blew my mind. You're on a grassy hill overlooking the river and on the other side of the river there's deer walking by.... Gonna say I might need to move here.

I loved the added touch of staff picks throughout the store. The team had writes notes about the books they recommend in each section.
