Whoa- this place is awesome. The concept and care that they put into their ingredients makes eating here so worth every single bite. There is a plethora of things for everyone; I personally had the kale bowl which was the right potion size to satisfy and each bite was unique and intriguing. The rest of the party I was with had the lentil bowl that was devoured and the burrito was gone within a few seconds so there is no doubt that it was a good sign! They used fresh ingredients and the staff was also very kind. The ONE thing that I did not like though: there were kids, and I mean A LOT of kids (mainly because of the frozen yogurt that they offer there); there were about 4 kids for every adult that was in there. So I've been here twice. Once for lunch and once for fro yo. Lunch was ok, definitely healthy and good portions. Presentation was meh (we had the nachos and quesadilla). Taste was pretty good, they're home made salsa is pretty good. The fro yo was disappointing. We went last night at about 8:15 and two out of the 6 (I think, didn't count) machines were "out of order" and the toppings station looked like the last 20 min of a wedding buffet (nothing in a bunch of the containers and gross leftover bits errywhere). My daughter took me to this establishment because she is vegan and I have allergies to gluten dairy and soy. It is very difficult for us to find a place where we can both eat. I love that the menu tells you what is gluten-free and vegan and soy free. Most places don't put soy free options on the menu. The girls at the counter were very knowledgeable and accommodating. I was able to order the SC bowl and switch out the rice for quinoa. It is the first time that I have had a shake since going dairy free. It was amazing! Ate here today, I'll eat here again. The Quinoa bowl with lentils and vegetables was a work of culinary art! Each veggie piece was diced for maximum flavor. The lentils and garbanzo beans were perfectly cooked. Then there was the lemon dressing. My friend and I ordered the same thing but it was the most refreshing lunch I've had out in quite a while. Active Culture could improve by adding ordering/cashier/cook staff to busy hours (lunchtime!). I've waited 25 minutes for a children's burrito, no drink or special orders involved. - Prices. I'm all for paying the price for quality ingredients. But their ingredients aren't expensive and wish they'd pass that along to the customer. This is why many people don't frequent Active Culture. You could spend the same amount (and be served your food table side) at other nice restaurants in town.
