I was really craving some affordable health foods today, and I must say the Organic Tree Juice Bar in Dana Point delivered to my needs! While I haven't tried any of the drinks yet, which seem pretty healthy too, I did get to enjoy their Classic Toast - which is basically avocados, microgreens, crushed black pepper, and a balsamic reduction on a slice of long-fermented sourdough bread, for $11.50 - outside at one of the tables nearby, and it was a great experience for my physical and, by extension, mental health, due to the former directly affecting the latter. The staff were very attentive, courteous, professional, and inviting, which I appreciated since good food tastes better when it's presented by nice people. The vibe was almost cult-like in the sense that there were a lot of people there that seemed like they're always there and the establishment is a big part of their daily lives. They also had a nicely curated selection of foods like chocolate bars, dried mangoes, olive oil, etc., for people to purchase for their households, which was pretty neat. Many of their ingredients come straight from the Dana Point Ecology Center. #2, it's a fantastic location right across from the harbor, great views and easy parking. #3, the service is fantastic. I also love their glass jars for juices...if you clean yours and bring it back to use for your next order, they'll give you $1 off in hopes of minimizing waste! Can I give this place more than just 5 stars??? What a truly hidden gem! This place is known for their healthy food and drink selections, but I love how they also incorporate sustainability into their store. Right when you walk in, you're greeted by the most earthy-looking shop with apothecary to your left and a gorgeous art to the right. As you head to their register to place your order, you'll pass by their "farmacy" filled with tons of local and organic goodies for purchase. I wanted to try some of their popular items so I got myself their classic avocado toast and the Oz juice. Yelpers are right, their avocado toast is delicious! The bread was just the right amount of chewy where it doesn't hurt your teeth to bite on the crust. There was plenty of beautifully sliced avocado drizzled with some sort of balsamic vinegar sauce. The tanginess blended so well with the toast. The juice was also very delicious. I couldn't believe it tasted so good considering there were things like kale, ginger, and celery in it. Yes, it may seem a bit expensive for some juice and avocado toast, but I felt like it was 100% worth it! This cute little shop is nestled among a plaza filled with many other unique shops. While there is a lot designated for the plaza's parking, it is sort of limited and during busy hours, might make it hard to find parking. I'm invisible I come with my daughter who's always running around and I need faster service and I really don't get why everyone's so mean to me there. Sucks I need to find another juice bar. Seating outside is these scrawny seats in the sun which have a sign to bus your own table. Inside is a huge communial table which is awkward if anyone else is seating in. I had the matcha latte and tried the cocoa latte as well--they both honestly tasted like chalk and my friend couldn't even finish his drink. The cocoa latte was very sweet but not in a good way. The Avocado Farm toast was delicious and had a beautiful presentation. I asked the girl who brought it to out table if I can have a utensils and she legit just walked away. I later came to believe she did not speak English but I feel it was still rude she could have just motioned she was going to go grab someone. I often stop into Organic Tree at the end of my morning work commute for a nourishing smoothie or a fresh loaf of sourdough (truly the best ever!). That's why it's so disheartening to see negative comments claiming that Organic Tree is promoting hate. From what I have personally seen, that is simply not true. There is nothing antisemitic, hateful, or dangerous about this establishment- only nourishing food, warmth, and kindness. Absolutely stoked to walk into this place after a very long hike around the marina and parks. The sandwiches are just what I envisioned when I noticed that earthy fresh aroma inside. It sent me back to the hippy healthy coffeehouse I used to frequent on a college campus back in the 80's where veg sandwiches were served tall with sprouts on fresh grainy breads. Here the East Coast with its beet kraut, red lettuce, avo, and heaping alfalfa sprouts was just perfect on the fermented French sourdough. Paired with and shared with a thick nutty smoothie of cacao, almond cashew butter, and a smush of banana - it was just what two people needed to replenish. Service was prompt and friendly too! Creamy and not too sweet. Not very thick so if you're looking for that it's definitely more watery in texture. The golden milk was the most authentic golden milk I've had from a shop. Not very sweet at all which I like. The avo toast was amazing! I feel like the sizes are generous for the quality based on other toasts I've had that are expensive and come with a slice of avocado on a small piece of bread. Dropped in here for a quick bite before an awful drive home (I-5 was closed due to a terrible accident). I didn't read the menu very thoroughly, asked for a Masala Chai expecting full indian-style chai with milk and honey, given the $4.50 price, as well as a Banh Mi sandwich, which I was quite excited about. I've been vegan and then vegetarian for nearly two decades, so I was hopeful for something creative and delicious, though probably not deeply authentic. They provided me a tea bag in warm water. Which, upon further inspection of the menu, might have been anticipated, and is thusly my fault. But still, I was charged five dollars for a teabag! The Banh Mi had strong flavors of hummus and sauerkraut and of very little else. The bread tasted like a standard hoagie roll. I'm not an expert on Vietnamese food or the veganization thereof, but it was deeply underwhelming. I didn't finish the sandwich (which is saying something for me) and I couldn't bring myself to even dignify the teabag with a sip. The place is cute and the ingredients were fresh and tasted high quality but my wife and I spent $40 on two mediocre sandwiches and two drinks, one of which was a teabag. I likely would have never found out about this place had a local not given me the scoop, as Organic Tree Juice Bar is located in the inconspicuous Dana Marina Plaza (also where Jimmy's Famous American Tavern and Glasspar are). Now, if you're granola like I am sometimes, you'll be at home here (sprouted nut or coconut milk for hot drinks, herbs, mushrooms, tinctures, etc.). I had a matcha latte and my husband a turmeric chai. While we enjoyed both drinks, they were more medicinal and earthy than I've ever had in a beverage before and I'm no stranger to these ingredients - the turmeric chai had sharp ginger and my matcha was more bitter than I'm used to. This place is the real deal; nothing sugar coated here! Our next stop in was for their fresh juices which are served in a glass mason jar for you to keep. At your next purchase you can return the jar for $1 off. While I have barely scratched the surface with all they have to offer (sandwich/salads/toasts, refrigerated goods, pantry items, beauty and wellness products etc.), this place is a gem in the community.
