I was in the area with family walking along the beach trail and craved an acai bowl. One quick search on yelp and Jan's Health Bar was just a 5-minute walk from where we were. We got 3 Jan's Acai Bowls to share between the 6 of us and an avocado toast. At first I was a little shocked at the price for one bowl, but then when it came out I was like o i get it. It's quite a hefty bowl, so definitely perfect to share with another person! The avocado toast was small but so beautiful lol the way they lay out the little slices of avocado!!! Kind of funny and cute :) Overall good experience here. Food was very fresh and healthy. If you eat there, they give you a number and the staff will bring your order to your table. Bathroom is clean. I am only dinging them a star because of their 3 choices for acai bowls, 2 of them had protein powder, which I don't want to consume so I had no choice but to get the first choice (Jan's Acai Bowl) which is fine but like another choice or two would have been nice...without the protein powder anyway. Would've liked to see other combinations without the protein powder! Otherwise very solid place to grab a healthy snack! read more

Going to Jan's for lunch every time I'm at Laguna Beach/Heisler Park is an absolute must for me. I love Jan's so much!! The food is always fresh, healthy, and delicious. Today they started something called The Swell Deal for limited time you get an entree of your choice with two sides and a lemonade or iced tea for $14.95. I chose my favorite Crunchy Kale Wrap with quinoa salad and fruit as the sides plus a lemonade. Everything was so good!!! Run don't walk because this is a great deal. Went for shakes with my cousin, he ordered a date shake and expected it to taste of dates and banana but the mix was overly strawberry. I ordered a berry shake, it was decent. It's one of the few healthy shake places in the area and the price is reflective of location and inflation. They were also closing an hour before posted time. Next time I'll just get a full meal or buy all the ingredients and go home. read more

Nice little health bar in the same plaza at Pavilions. Plenty of outdoor space. Have large menu of sandwiches, salads, juices, and smoothies. I had the half sandwich half soup combo. You get a choice of different proteins. I had the tuna salad sandwich. Solid choice. Did definitely have a "healthier" feel to it. Broccoli and cheddar soup (not so healthy) was also solid. I would probably do side salad next time. My wife liked her kale salad. Lot of fresh veggies. read more

SOOOO excited that Jan's Health Bar has a location in Laguna Beach. There are so many food options in Laguna that advertise "healthy food" but I feel that Jan's truly delivers on this promise. Smoothies are so good, service is great, and the place is nice and clean. Got the Chunky Monkey and the Poppie's Special -- both were amazing. The Chunky Monkey reminded me of the one from the original Shake Shack on PCH. The iced tea is also really good and refreshing. Will definitely be back! read more

I will say, the bases were a little frost bitten or more icy when I got it, but it did melt down a bit more once I started eating it and then everything started to blend and it tasted good. I'm a huge fan of Blue Bowl and feel like nothing compares to theirs, but Alohana is on par with that. It's good if you want to take it to go and let it melt down a little to have that smooth consistency instead of fighitng with it and getting chunks at a time of the base. Definitely would recommend coming here after a long day at the beach or picking one up before heading to the beach to enjoy there. They also sell coffee and other random, but very cool, tchotchkes, clothes, art, that you wouldn't find at any other Acai bowl shop and it's very Dana Point. Great place to pick-up a unique souvenir if you're visiting from out of town.
