I didn't have to worry that my days-old baby would catch measles from some kid whose parents takes medical advice from a lawyer instead of a doctor. Sonja Stevenson was incredibly kind, attentive, and engaging throughout our visit. She took the time to listen, answered our questions, and made us feel comfortable. Overall, the appointment itself went very well, and we really appreciated the care she provided. The only frustrating part was that my daughter's prescription was never sent to the pharmacy. We checked with the front desk during the same visit that everything was correct with the pharmacy. We drove to the pharmacy twice but the prescription was still never sent. Now the office is closed, and the answer machine is saying it will cost $20 just to speak with the after-hours nurse about getting the medication our daughter needs. That was a very disappointing end to an otherwise great visit. read more

My child has been Dr Romeros patient since he was 3. He is on the scectrum and since entering adolescence has become severly depressed. I have tried everything. I called to schedule a new patient appt for my baby. They do not accept patients who are not fully vaccinated. they would rather get a bonus for vaccinations than actually care for children and see them just to help with any health concerns. We have been coming here for about 5 years now with no problems. Dr Keane has always been friendly and patient with myself and three kids ages 8, 5 and 3. She always answers my questions and I never feel rushed or ignored. We also saw Dr Stevenson once when Dr Keane was out of town and she was great too. I also like how they keep slots open for current patients with any emergencies to come in and be seen. Front desk and nurses has always been good. I appreciate that they are pretty efficient and they've never kept us waiting very long past our appt time. The waiting room is nice and clean. Lots of open parking out front. I've recommended AoK to a handful of friends but they're pretty full and are only taking newborns at the moment. PS. Don't forget to head down to the Rise Up Bakery a few doors down. I have an almost 3 year old and a 6 month old that we have taken to Acts of Kidness multiple times for regular check-ups and sick visits. I have always had an easy time scheduling last minute appointments for illness, and wait times have always been reasonable. The care and bedside manner of the physicians we've seen (Dr. Wilcock and Dr. Keane) have been amazing, and the nurses are always happy and attentive. In particular, Dr. Wilcock as primary care physician for both of our children has been such a great resource and source of comfort to me and my wife as new parents. She does a fantastic job of listening and we have never felt rushed by her as we have at previous pediatrician offices. Would have been nice to know that they do not take unvaccinated children before taking my money. Even after you give the front office all your information and they ask you that very question I'm not sure why it took an actual appointment, plus taking my money, to be discriminated against. This is after we already waited six months on a waiting list to be seen for the first time. If you are so confident your immunizations work, then what's the problem with caring for a child that is not immunized. Be it for religious, personal or medical reasons everyone deserves medical attention, and not choosing to be immunized should not be discriminated against. I hope these pediatricians will remember the oath they took, when they became doctors to do no harm. read more

We've been with this practice for almost 5 years. I've seen every provider and they are all fantastic. Our main doctor is Dr Wilcock and she is just amazing. I can't say enough about the team- I can always get seen the day of, my calls are returned, and the care is exceptional. I was even recognized while masked by one of the doctors at an airport- she knew me and my daughter! I feel heard and I trust them. The office also just got a beautiful facelift and looks awesome. My kids love to come here. If you are looking for a long term pediatrician, look no further. You can't go wrong here. read more

I wanted to to be my place for my little girl but the lack of care I received was disheartening. We saw Dr. Kean for a recurring fever that was plaguing my child for a month. The only response I got was, "I saw 4 kids come in today with that, something is going on". She also had a chronic cough, Dr. Kean didn't even listen to her chest. I had to ask her to look into her throat which had whiteness in it. The fever turned to 104 and my baby girl had to go to the Er and it was a uti. I had to play Google doctor and was loaned a nebulizer for her cough. Another doctor gave me meds for the yeast infection she had in her throat. Their office is never busy when I go there and yet We still wait and see that doc for mere minutes while she doesn't give a thorough check up. Find a doc who takes the time to be thorough even if your child comes in for the sniffles read more

I have very limited experience with the actual doctors or practice as an FYI. This rating is based off of my very limited phone conversation with one of the staff. It was just such a crazy experience I felt the need to post about it. Their website states they only deal with newborns right now, which is perfect because I am 8 months pregnant and looking for a pediatrician's office for when my baby is born. So I called up to make an appointment to meet the doctors, commonly referred to as a pediatric interview. I was told "Oh, we don't do those, but I can answer any of your other questions." First off, what other questions would I have? Are you saying you will answer my pediatric interview questions? And how am I supposed to get a vibe for any of the doctors with no in person meeting? Are people's first interaction with the doctors literally when they bring in their baby for the very first time? And don't a lot of doctors try to make it to the hospital when the baby is born? How would that work? The woman on the phone stated that "People don't really ask for that. They did when we first opened, but not anymore." So I guess they live off of their good reputation or referrals at this point. I am just blown away. I understand being busy, 100%. But I could never take my brand new baby somewhere where I had not personally met the doctors beforehand. No matter how good the reviews (which look excellent and it makes me sad I won't get a chance to meet them). Anyhow, if you are comfortable with just blindly making an appointment for your newborn and hoping everything you are looking for lines up with their practice this is the office for you! Otherwise I guess don't even bother :/. read more

Our children have always been able to get in same day when sick and each of the physicians are relatable as they have kids themselves. The physicians knowledge as well as their connections for care make them a practice you need to establish care with as soon as possible. read more

They do not accept insurance for disabled veterans and their family with the only reasoning is policy. Our insurance is an open policy and pays the same allowable limit as their other accepted insurance. read more

My son has been to Dr Keane 3x now and it's pretty much the quick service doc shop that barely listens to you, doesn't explain much, and writes a scrip. Probably great for a lot of folks, but we need a little more detail when our kid is sick. We had a great Pediatrician before and know it's hard to find a good one in Gilbert. My family sees Dr. Wilcock, she's very kind and caring. I drive over 25 minutes just to see her. She listens to your concerns and doesn't rush you like a lot of doctors do. My babies were born 7 weeks premature and I wanted someone I could trust because of the complications. I am extremely frustrated and disappointed with my experience at Acts of Kidness and Dr. Keane. I called and made an appointment about a month ago for wellness checks for my two children. Absolutely no mention was made of their vaccination policy at that time. The soonest available opening was today at 1:10, which meant that I had to take my daughter out of school for the appointment. We arrived early so I could fill out the needed paperwork. The receptionist had asked that I bring my ID, insurance cards and my children's vaccination records, which was fine and routine in my experience of new Dr. appointments. However when the receptionist learned that my children are not up to date on their vaccines she informed me that she would ask but was pretty sure the Dr. (Dr. Keane) would not see my children. What??? She left to speak with Dr. Keane and returned to confirm that she would not be seeing my children. I was dumbfounded. I explained that my daughter had gotten rotovirus from the rotovirus vaccine as an infant (her pediatrician concluded this and not me) and that my family is extremely sensitive to several additives and chemicals. I asked to speak with Dr. Keane and the receptionist said she was sorry but she had already canceled the appointments and gave me the card to the office manager if I wanted to give her a call later. So booking the appointment, waiting for a month for my kids to get seen and taking my daughter out of school midday was a complete waste of my time. Their website states "We are happy to discuss your concerns about vaccines at your child's next visit." The way this was handled seems very sloppy, unkind and idiotic. read more

They have been so great to work with and if I ever have an urgent need they have always taken care of us. I have seen all the doctors there and they have been good as well! First off, two health care professionals recommended we come here. That is a five star review in and of itself! We were concerned at first because it's a 25+ minute drive for us each way. I would drive twice as far for Dr. Keane and her staff. They are amazing. Dr. Keane is everything you'd ever want in a doctor. And having Cheryl to answer any and all medical questions has been a huge blessing to this first time Momma (with twins!). My 5 year-old daughter has been going here her entire life since she was born. She has had digestive issues since she was born. My wife and I met with Dr. Maggie Keane on multiple occasions and explained that my daughter was STRAINING to pass a bowel movement in her diaper. She was bearing down and turning red just from pushing to pass a BM. It looked like she was trying to give birth for real. Dr. Keane's recommendation for this issue was for us to give my daughter a capful a Miralax every day (which we did) and that should take care of it. We followed this protocol for months and months and nothing changed. Then we went back and explained that our daughter was still doing the same thing and Dr. Keane ordered no tests, no imaging, nothing. She just said "let's try bumping the Miralax dose higher". Since we weren't comfortable with giving our 26 pound child massive quantities of Miralax daily for a year straight, we ended up taking my daughter to a gastroenterologist that's part of the Phoenix Children's Hospital Network for a second opinion. About two minutes into his physical exam of my daughter's belly (which was distended) he immediately became concerned. He ordered images immediately and what he saw on those images were so serious that he called over to Phoenix Children's Hospital immediately while we were still in his office and he got a hospital room reserved for my daughter for an overnight hospital admission. My daughter was in the hospital for three days with a "fecal mass the size of a baseball" that was pushing against her bladder and causing incontinence. They put an NG tube through my daughter's nose and down her throat and they hooked her up to an around-the-clock IV full of liquid that's similar to Pedialyte called "Go Lightly". My daughter basically just pooped and pooped every single hour for three straight days until her stool became completely clear. They were pumping roughly a gallon and a half of fluid directly into her stomach per day and after her stool was clear they discharged us. I was told that when a fecal blockage becomes as severe as my daughter's blockage was, kids can actually die from it and sadly, some actually have. I asked the GI doctor if more than one capful of Miralax per day would have done anything to prevent the hospitalization and he smirked at that notion and said "your daughter's blockage was WAY past the point where ANY amount of Miralax would have fixed this problem". To summarize my review, my daughter's life was actually in jeopardy because of the size of the fecal mass that gradually got bigger and bigger and grew over the course of a few years in her intestines (all while she was a patient at Acts of Kidness). Thank God we finally used common sense and took her to a different doctor who actually took a few minutes to figure out what was causing the problem. Dr. Keane was clueless about all of this and didn't do ANYTHING to help our daughter except recommend that we give her more Miralax. All it would have taken was for her to order even one image of my daughter's stomach and she would have seen a major problem! But that's the problem these days right? One image means a few extra minutes spent on my daughter which means collecting one or two less copays for the day. Quantity over quality. Because of this experience, I will NEVER just blindly trust a doctor again simply because they are a doctor. As a parent, I failed my daughter in the worst way possible and it almost cost my daughter her own life. I put all my faith and trust in a medical system where I actually believed that all doctors devote the attention and care to each patient that they would devote to their own kid if they were treating and diagnosing them. That fantasy is not how things work in this world full of copays, procedure billing codes and fee-for-service medicine in general. This is 100% a profit-maximizing business masquerading as a patient-focused industry, which it's not at all. If Dr. Keane's own 5 year-old daughter experienced the GI problems and symptoms that our daughter did, I guarantee you that her course of treatment for her own daughter wouldn't have been to give her large adult-sized quantities of Miralax for years and years with no tests or specialist referrals done. If you want a doctor who is friendly and will dress up in costumes or wear silly socks to make your kids smile and laugh then Dr. Keane is a great choice, but going forward, I'll be choosing the serious doctor who really takes whatever time is necessary and orders whatever tests are needed to diagnose and fix the root of a problem. When my daughter needed help most, she didn't need Patch Adams, she needed a down-to-business doctor to help her and she didn't get that with Acts of Kidness. This is 100% my own personal experience and I don't care if my review is unpopular or others disagree with it. I'm sharing what happened to me and my family personally. You can do whatever you want with it. read more

I've had my experience here with Dr. Wilcock and her team. My wife and I recently gave birth to our first child, so we were looking for a pediatrician who understood that we may be a little...over-concerned. I anticipated having to look at different pediatrics, but I feel like I lucked out by coming here. The staff here are friendly and professional, and so far they have been caring and responsive. They call back when I leave messages, and I don't find myself waiting too long--not like my experiences with general hospitals.
