My husband and I greatly appreciate Dr. Dewitt. This practice was recommended to us by a friend after another pediatrician almost dropped our newborn (it was a very weird interaction). We have now been patients for more than 3 years and he sees both of my children. He is professional without being pretentious, listens to all of our concerns and presents solutions when needed. They are very busy and quite popular in this area-as I now know a few families that go there- so make appointments ahead of time. This also means sick appointments and day of appointments are limited. The medical complex it's located in is also quite busy, the parking lot is always full so show up early to search for parking. Good doctors are hard to come by so having a pediatrician this great is important. read more

How to start off with this experience... I have 2 special needs children that have been seen here for a year and a half. I have filled out forms for records to be transferred over and they still do not have therefore they do not know my children. We drove 3.5 hrs from Pinetop to get scripts for OT, Speech and PT and called to let them know we'd be a bit late due to construction in Globe and hit some on Meridian. We walked in at exactly 11:14 to an empty waiting room to be turned away. WOW!! Too busy, I guess, without one patient in there. Front desk girl not a woman cause a woman does act that way but was so rude even on the phone just nasty attitude!! I removed them from this horrible office and thank goodness there old practice in Gilbert could get him in right away for scripts since we drove all this way. We want to be very clear that Dr. DeWitt is an excellent physician, and this review is not a reflection of him. However, our experience with this practice has been unacceptable and deeply concerning. We were dismissed from the office for allegedly having five "no-shows," without any prior warning, communication, or outreach whatsoever, outside of a threatening letter once it got to 5 no shows. At no point were we notified that missed appointments were accumulating, that we were at risk of dismissal, or that this was even an issue until this letter. We did not receive reminder calls, texts, or follow-up communications nor did we receive texts for appointments like they state. In all of our appointments, we probably received 3 confirmations... Additionally, their own policy states that patients will be contacted after two missed appointments -- this never occurred. We can only recall two unintentional missed appointments, during a period when our infant daughter was suffering from severe colic. Rather than showing basic understanding or attempting to communicate, this practice demonstrated a complete lack of empathy toward families with newborns. Mine you, one of the appointments they told me we no showed was the first appointment 2 days after she was born and we were still unexpectedly in the hospital as she had jaudice.... thought there would be way more compassion. Instead of reaching out to resolve the issue, we received a threatening dismissal letter without any prior discussion. This approach is alarming for a pediatric practice. The way this situation was handled felt transactional and punitive, more in line with a retail operation than a medical office entrusted with the care of babies and children. The failure to communicate, disregard for their own policies, and lack of compassion for struggling parents is unacceptable. Pediatric care should prioritize partnership, transparency, and empathy -- none of which were demonstrated here. Parents deserve to know that this practice may choose enforcement over communication, even when caring for vulnerable infants. read more

Love the office and providers but every time I call I immediately get placed on hold for a minimum of 10-15 minutes. When I've been in office, I have seen the front office staff do this and they are not even talking with other customers. This is not right and wait times should not be that long every time you call in. This workflow definitely could use some work. I love JJs pediatric. We have been coming here since my son was born. The past year it has gotten so busy that we haven't been able to get in directly with Dr. Dewitt who we absolutely adore! He's the best! But the NPs are great too. We used Alayna a few times and she's listens and answers questions I have. We have been a patient of Dr.Dewitts for 3 years now with my first kid. Who is healthy, so we didn't need them much until this year when I had my second. My second kid has a rare syndrome. We have been in the office at least 2-4 times a month since they were born beginning of 2025. We have 3 missed appts in 2 years, one they were admitted, second made the night before and took the to urgent care and canceled first thing, 3rd we were 10 min late due to no parking. They now won't see us right after their second hospitalization and are dismissing us. We had 3 missed appt from 2022. They only allow 5 per family. Even though I had spoke to Dewitt and his MA and was told this wouldn't happen. I'm very saddened how this has transpired and feel like after 40 visits in less than a year we should have been given some grace but his office manager is very disrespectful and rude and I no longer care to return due to the treatment. Terrible services! They billed us an absurd amount of money for asking a couple quick questions for our toddler during a well visit. The questions did not take very long to answer. Billing said we signed a document showing this "new policy" change regarding how they bill questions at appointments. They could not provide us proof of this "signed document" that we supposedly signed. Front desk is a mess, to the point I had to pull my children out of this practice because I was concerned for their health. They also don't believe in Covid, if science is your thing. Thats not why I pulled my kids out though. My son had massive leg pain for days and the front desk would not budge or try to even appear like they cared. I had taken my newborn to JJ pediatrics for four months, and while the providers were exceptional, I had nothing but negative experiences with the front desk. It all started with my son's newborn screening that took place December 19th. We didn't hear back until February 21st when I received a VOICEMAIL from NP Alayna informing me that my son had tested borderline for a fatty acid disorder and that I had to come in ASAP to get my son retested. So I went in that same day and did just that (For those that don't know, fatty acid disorders in infants are life-threatening if left untreated). So I requested the test be expedited, and I was assured that it would only take a few days to get the results. Then a month went by... during which I had called multiple times each week, but they would just brush it off, telling me "no news is good news." No apology or explanation for the delays and no trying to contact the lab. On top of that, there was a "mix-up" with my son's 4-month appointment, which was supposed to be on March 17th when they scheduled my son at the wrong time. Instead of trying to work us in or offer any solutions for their mistake, they told me they were booked out all the way into June. I asked to be put on a cancellation list, but they said they don't do that and recommended for me to go to a third party place for his vaccines. What if my baby got sick? I still have to wait months to be seen? Thank goodness I had his 6 month appt for May scheduled months in advanced. If I would've known how crazy booked this place was I would've chosen a different office. And now my son will be 2 months behind on his vaccines. My advice for JJ pediatrics would be to stop accepting new patients if you cannot manage your current ones!! After all these issues, I decided to find a new pediatric office. The new place I called was able to get me in the same week, complete my son's 4-month vaccines, and assured me that I would get his newborn screening results within 24-48 hours! After scheduling with them, I called JJ Pediatrics to ask why another office could provide results in 2 days, while it took them 2 months. I also expressed my dissatisfaction with the scheduling and told them I'd be switching to the new pediatrician, requesting my son's medical records be ready for pickup that afternoon.The response I got? "Mm-hmm, okay, well there's a fee to print out the records." Excuse me? Not even an apology or an understanding of my frustration? Not even an offer to call the lab to figure out the delay? I work for a doctors office myself and I've NEVER even heard of an office charging for medical records! I later called them back and spoke with someone from the back office Juana, asking to speak with the manager. She informed me that the manager had unfortunately already left for the day. Juana was incredibly kind and helpful. She answered all my questions, contacted the lab, and assured me that my son's results were NORMAL. She even offered to have my son seen by one of their nurses for his shots to ensure he wouldn't fall behind (funny cuz the other staff member wanted to send me to a third party ) It's interesting that an employee working in the back office was able to offer me solutions and get my son's results within 5 minutes. Why didn't the front desk provide me with this information? Juana then informed me that she would have their office manager Tiffany reach out to me and talk to me about my concerns. When the office manager, Tiffany, called me the following day, she attempted to go over my son's upcoming appointments, only to discover they had been scheduled incorrectly as well. While the phone call from her was appreciated and she was able to fix the appointment times, it felt like my concerns were being brushed aside. She even went on to say to me that they had JUST received the results from his newborn screening THAT day ( the same day I told them I was switching offices..? interesting..) when I asked why it took so long to receive my sons test results, her responded in a condescending tone "well we can't control what the lab does" seriously? come on... I understand that things can be out of our control BUT after all the events that happened, that was not from the lab that was due to the lack of communication FROM YOUR OFFICE. I am truly disappointed because I really did like the providers and the nurses but ultimately, I just don't think this was the best fit for our family. I need test results sent to me in a timely manner, more availability for appointments if my baby gets sick and better communication!! read more

This review is solely in the way the office is run and the amount of patients they have that they cannot keep up with. The front desk needs a raise. There is never a time I call in and have not been on hold for 10 minutes. There has never been a time I went to the office and it wasn't packed. They don't do same day or even same week appointments if your kid is sick. When the one time we have actually seen the doctor he was nice and knowledgeable. But to book an appt with him is rare and hard, you will usually see a PA. This is not the type of care I want for my children. They need to stop taking in new patients and give everyone the care they deserve. Also when my son was born it was hard to get him on insurance. A lot of paperwork because he was born at home at kit at the hospital. It took about 3 months and I finally did get him added to the insurance. But before then every visit even for my other children they would hassle me for the money and I told them he would get retroactive service very soon from his date of birth. Then I get a notice saying I'll be going to collection if not paid soon. As soon as I got that I knew this place is just here for the money and not the actual people and kids. read more

Since our baby was born, we went here for appointments because they were highly recommended and we were placed with an NP. I asked to see the MD DeWitt and was told I would at the 3, 4, and 6 month visits... well, we showed up for the 3 month and got put with the NP again. For 3 months of visits we complained our child was favoring looking in one direction and we were told it's normal. Before I found another pediatrician, we were finally referred to PT, and it only happened after I had to point out that there is now a flat spot on the baby's head. The NP did not point it out, didn't mention it, and only acknowledged it after I pointed it out. I asked about PT and was told a referral would go out. 2 months later I've still never heard back about the referral. Luckily I had the intuition to find my own PT. I also asked what would happen if PT didn't help the flat spot and was told PT would make a recommendation to get a helmet. Well went through 8 weeks of PT for torticollis, found out they couldn't do referrals to a cranial helmet place, and had to ask the new pediatrician we see for one. We now have to put the baby in a helmet for at least 3 months because she developed plagiocephaly over the duration of having a stiff neck from the torticollis. We personally feel this could have been avoided if stretching exercises were addressed on the 3rd day of life when we mentioned it instead of being ignored at literally every appointment for three months. There were some other issues throughout our time seeing this provider in regard to not feeling listened to or feeling judged for decisions we were making, but this is really our biggest frustration. The image below is how bad the plagiocephaly is after being ignored for months. You'll notice the flattened curve on the back of the head which has effects symmetry of the ears and eyes. Thankfully, it's all correctable now that we have the resources we need. It's not just a "cosmetic" issue, it's a big safety hazard because things like standard bike helmets won't fit the baby's head properly while growing up. read more

My husband and I started taking our newborn to JJ Pediatrics about two months ago. We chose this practice based on the location. It is located within a medical plaza nearby in which we already have a few different specialists we work with within the plaza. Parking is plentiful, the location is convenient, and there is a CVS pharmacy nearby in case you ever need to pick up a script after. Our pediatrician, Brian Dewitt is amazing. He is young, relaxed, patient, and listens to all of our many questions. He always makes us feel calm when we leave. We are first-time parents so we have a lot of questions and anxieties, as you would imagine. We love the staff and the receptionists up front. They have been very helpful in finding referrals for us for specialists, and never making us wait more than a minute within our appointment time. They have some fun samples out front for newborns, infants, and toddlers. We always schedule our next appointment on the way out, and the staff is very helpful with scheduling as well. The place itself is on the smaller side and so convenient to just get in and out of the appointment, especially with a newborn since we don't have a large window to fuss around. Overall, I would highly recommend this pediatrician, Dr. D. it is great and everybody else is there it is amazing! read more

The last time we were there we were trying to have a conversation with the doctor front desk lady, Kate or what ever her name is kept interjecting her opinion. Just rude. Love JJ Pediatrics! They are respectful, patient and it's obvious that they truly care about your child(ren). Dr Hrkal is so kind and efficient. He is good with kids and has helped ease my concerns with my twins. He also doesn't push meds. I like that. I don't like giving meds unless absolutely necessary. Many pediatricians try to medicate every kid for every sniffle just to pacify the parents. He is honest and won't push anything, he only will ice you his recommendation. We are first time parents thinking the reviews made it a great office. We took our son to his first appointment after the hospital and the dr didn't acknowledge the possible rash our son was getting so we had to ask as he was leaving about it, and said yeah it's just irritated, we ended up changing his wipes because our son didn't like the ones we used as well with using destin. We then took our son for a check up because our son was constipated the dr said the baby needs to learn how to poop and that he's fine, said formula doesn't cause that. This dr had glasses and was in our room for maybe 5 min each time for the two visits we had. We switched his office because this office and dr did not take the time to check our son and possible causes for the issues that were happening as first time parents read more

I have a 2 year old and 6 month old. We recently transferred both kiddos over to JJ Pediatrics and have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Dewitt. He not only answers my million questions but also interacts with my children so well! My 6 month old has unfortunately been under the weather and I've had to call their after hours line twice. Both times I was able to speak to Dr. Dewitt right away and he was able to coach me through what I needed to do! I feel very lucky to have a local pediatrician that I trust! If I had to critique one thing it would be the lack of kid appeal. If you take out the few toys in the office and the painted pictures on the table doors in the rooms then you wouldn't really know it was a pediatric office. That's just me being picky though. I'd like to make note that I haven't seen the other doctor so I am not able to leave a review for him. read more

I'm furious! We were told there was no charge for a follow up post circumcision complication with Dr.Hrkal. I thought it was nice of them since for the 1st part of the complication, we took him in to JJ because it got infected. No biggy there, it can happen...you know what I mean? We paid our $30 copay right then for this visit no problem. The next complication we got was blood all over. The plastibell came out only partially (suppose to come out all at once but for some reason there was an extra suture around his penis?!). That suture managed to twist, twist and twist around his penis where we had to take our son into the ER in the middle of the night. They had to remove the plastibell immediately! So after that ER visit, we took our son in for that 2 min follow up. I approached the counter to pay but we were told by 2 receptionists that it was no charge today. I said: "Ah great thank you!....I was wondering why you weren't calling me over to pay the $30 copay we usually pay on the spot before you submit a claim to our insurance." They replied: "Oh no, no charge today" I truly thought it was the least they could do considering all the complications and extra money spent at the ER and all. When we got the bill in the mail I spoke to a receptionist and then to the manager whom kept on talking over me. Apparently, they ran this by Dr. Hrkal. I couldn't believe they were asking for a payment still! Look- it's not because we don't have the $30, it's just the principal in it + following all the complications we got that made us mad. We were told the receptionists had no authority over deciding to charge or not. If the receptionist made a mistake , it should be taken out of their paycheck, NOT charged to the customer.
