TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. TAKE YOUR TIME AND MONEY ELSEWHERE. This shop direly needs some developmental courses on how to treat customers. I originally called for an estimate to which the guy said he couldn't do over the phone but if I came in he could take a look at it. I came in and his wife or whatever she is says that I can come in while the guy goes and looks at my car for a potential estimate. I NEVER agreed to or said I would be doing business with them but I asked for a simple estimate. The guy comes in saying I need more parts than I thought and begins listing all these things but somehow still doesn't know a estimate. He apparently took a picture of my vin number which I don't appreciate as it is not necessary to finding out which parts are suitable for my car. I've been to tons of repair shops and NONE of them took my vin before giving me an estimate and NONE of them especially took it before knowing if I even wanted to continue doing business with them. I asked the lady how long it would take to get an estimate and she says two days. This obviously made me very hesitant to give anymore information because there's not one body shop doing good business that takes two days to give you an estimate (at leases not one making money). They were very pushy and forceful to gain more personal information but couldn't answer my questions straightforward. The guy goes on a tangent about his age and how he's basically stuck in his ways and is stubborn. Let me say as business owner myself if you cannot be patient with customers or their questions bother you, YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE IN BUSINESS. Upon getting to the point of not wanting to do business with this unprofessional run down place anymore I asked for the estimate sheet with MY PERSONAL INFORMATION ON IT. To which the grouchy old guy says that it's his paper like he's a two year old and refuses to give it back. If this is how you act over a piece of paper, that was made to give to the public in the first place, the. I certainly don't want to do business with you. I wouldn't go back here if it was the last option on earth. And I certainly did snatch a estimate sheet on my way out. If I could give this place NEGATIVE STARS I would. Then to try some sick guilt trip of him being a pastor acting as evil as they were, like that was supposed to boost my trust in him or something. Pastor or not you aren't God and NO ONE IS OBLIGATED TO DO BUSINESS WITH YOU EVEN IF THEY DID INQUIRE. ABSOLUTELY SICK! read more

I went to Act's Paint and Body Shop first and foremost because they are a Durham business and I want to support my community. Second, they had a 5 star rating on Yelp, and that's impressive. My Acura RDX had been hit on the drivers door side; it was a hit and run; Damage was minor, but enough that there was a dent & paint chipped. This is my only ride, and I take pride in keeping it clean and in good shape, so it was important to have this repaired. There were other small scratches on the door and the running boards that needed attention, but I was willing leave those un-repaired to keep price down. Pastor Al inspected the damage and gave me an estimate. He later noticed other little dings, etc., scratches and said he would take care of it. After I met Pastor Al, I was sold. In addition to the 5 Star rating on Yelp, he exceeded my expectations for customer service, and overall an amazing human being. The work was flawless. They did a great job of detailing my ride. Pastor Al is a true gem. I was anxious about where to take my car to have my bumper fixed (I backed into someone and it left a huge dent ) and Pastor Al was the first person I called, based on his reviews. I did go to a couple other businesses in the immediate area for quotes and ended up going to Pastor Al for a couple reasons: his quote was HALF the price and he is friendly and down-to-earth. The bumper had to be ordered, replaced, and painted and he did it all within two days. It honestly looked better than before the accident AND he washed my car before I picked it up (including the bugs that were cemented on the front bumper). Pastor Al views what he does as an avenue for serving other people. I truly appreciated that Pastor Al wanted to help me out to be a blessing to me rather than to make as much money off of me as he could. Act's Body Shop was recommended to me by another local painter in Durham, after I approached them to do a complete respray of my beloved 2000 E430 - they told me they no longer did full resprays, but go see Pastor Al at Act's - and that was one of the best decisions I ever made. Pastor Al did an AMAZING job with my car and restored the original Bright Silver paint to showroom-new condition, after the NC sun had eaten through the clear-coat on the roof, decklid, and rear quarter-panels. All the minor stone-chips and dents were also fixed - but, not only did Pastor Al do that! He fully detailed the car inside and out (including the engine bay) AND restored my yellowed headlamps, all included in the price which was VERY reasonable. i had a great experience here this month. my car and i had an encounter with a brick wall lol and i took it to Pastor Al at Act's Paint and Body to see if it could be fixed. not only did he fit me in very quickly (as i was planning on driving the car out of state) but you couldn't even tell anything had happened to the car! my car is old ('05) and it was returned to me looking better than the day i bought it. Pastor Al even noticed that the driver side mat in my car was dirty and washed it for me. i was also given a *very* fair price that beat anyone in the area. and again--the workmanship was impeccable and the little touches like cleaning my mat for me are what makes this place stand out compared to others. i would recommend this place to anyone in Durham or the surrounding areas needing a body shop. i wouldn't go to anybody else! read more

Act's Paint and Body Shop is the best body shop I've ever worked with. The shop is owned and operated by Pastor Al, who not only knows the body shop business, but is an honest, fair and helpful person. After a big Oak limb fell on my Honda Civic, they professionally fixed the body work at a reasonable price, getting it back to me in time for the holidays. In addition, Pastor Al worked tirelessly to help get the moonroof operational again, which involved coordination and negotiation with the Honda dealership. I am so grateful for all this local small businessman did to get my car back on the road again. I only wish his kind of customer care was the norm, and not the exception these days. The front end of my 2015 Honda CRV was badly crushed when a large truck backed into it. I thought the car was totalled, but Al said he could fix it. Indeed he did! I picked it up today and it looked brand new - he insisted on polishing off one last smudge before handing it over to me. He was super professional and very kind, and he charged a very fair rate.
