I've been a few times now and I am generally a fan. My previous experience with acupuncture dates back a long time, so it's been kind of like a re-introduction. Aculibrium is a casual yet very together emporium of health. There's yoga classes, and supplements for your consideration, as well as a couple treatment rooms for acupuncture and massage therapy. The place is well-organized, good-looking and pleasant to be around. Working on an acute ailment, I'm coming 3x a week. While it's too early to see results, it certainly feels like we're on the right track. Things take time, so I'm patient. I appreciate the work that Kirsten does. She listens and is sensitive to what's going on with me. And, I feel very relaxed when I leave. When a class runs simultaneously to your treatment, it can get a little loud. Try to get in the front room because it's bigger and better insulted from noise. Takes insurance, too. read more

I have been coming here on and off for about a year and I just love it! I have been to other places for accupunture And they didn't have the warmest and understanding as AcuLibrium does. I have seen three different acupuncturist but honestly they are all good and address my problems head on a a ask really great questions before we get started. They also respect my choices since I do not like cupping and it's totally fine. I had been having lower back pain with a pinched nerve for over a month and came here for my first acupuncture experience. The doctors are all very friendly, explained every to me thoroughly, asked if I had questions, and went through an in depth review of my symptoms before starting treatment. The treatment itself built up over several sessions and not only did it help relieve my pain but it was one of the most relaxing experiences I've ever had. I have been seeing Andrea at Aculibrium for the past three months. My main concern for the visit was a frequent migraine. Usually I get 5-6 migraines per month, mostly during ovulation and period. Some of them are extremely painful -- nausea, vomiting etc.. I have seen my physician, OBGYN and Neurologist, but all I have got were pain medications and an advice to manage my stress level. This is when I decided to try out acupuncture. My first visit to Andrea was amazing! Carefully listening to my detailed answers to all her questions, she made sure she had all the information about my symptoms, problems and overall health. I have been seeing her for the past three months; going for an acupuncture session 2-3 times a month and taking herbal medicines. I am happy to say now the frequency of my migraine has gone down to 1-2 times a month, and they are not as painful as they were before I started seeing Andrea. Eastern medicine is a slow process, because you won't see a quick result but it indeed treats the root cause of the problem instead of minimizing/covering the symptoms as medications often do. The acupuncture itself was great and I enjoyed the room. Technician was nice. It was weird that for the same problems, each tech put needles in different locations on my body (maybe that's just a thing that I am not educated about). The heat lamp on my feet was a nice touch. My real gripe is that I was in a room with loud staff members talking and laughing right outside the door and it made relaxation quite difficult for me. I have grown up with acupuncture. My dad was practicing before I was born, & I've had treatments all my life- from him and many others. I'm very picky about acupuncturists and I've had trouble finding someone I trust in Los Angeles (Dad doesn't live in CA). Now I'm expecting a baby. Melissa was recommend to me for labor preparation a few weeks ago, and I couldn't be happier. Her treatments have helped me with pain & hormone balancing. Dr. Melissa is a lifesaver! I was skeptical of acupuncture for years - I stuck to my doctors and figured that was enough. I finally went when my neurologist insisted that I go for migraine treatment. In fact she refused to try any new medications until I went to acupuncture. That was almost 2 years ago and I have not stopped going since! My migraines drastically reduced, completely changing my quality of life. I went from about 1-2/week, to 1 per month. After blowing out my lower back and needing to be taken to the ER in excruciating pain at only 28, I realized I needed to make sure I would recover properly AND do whatever was necessary to prevent a back injury like this from ever happening again. I've never used or trusted anything but Western medicine before, but I decided this was simply too important so I was determined to leave no stone unturned. So naturally that included investigating TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine). Enter AcuLibrium. Being a little afraid of needles I wasn't entirely sure how I'd react, but truth is the needles are not traditional needles like those found on syringes, they're much lighter and more flexible, and the owner (Melissa Synder) was very adept at inserting them without pain or discomfort. She was very clear and thoughtful about each and every step of the therapy, having been a PT herself. And using that experience she was able to recommend all sorts of remedies that are well known and accepted outside TCM. We worked on my flexibility and particularly my core to strengthen me as much as possible. I found it very relaxing to go there on my lunch breaks because the environment was silent and the (optional) music was soothing. AcuLibrium is also run very well run too; they use Dr. Chrono for email reminders of appointments and give summaries of your prognosis as well. Overall, I have vastly improved over the past 6+ weeks since my injury and am finally starting to get back to normal. I first came to Aculibrium when I was experiencing full-body moderate-to-severe eczema and stuck in a horrible job, also having recently transplanted from Northern California. It's one of the only places that took my insurance (Anthem Blue Cross of CA PPO). I've seen Andrea and Ariana so far. Andrea was my first practitioner, and she very kindly and intently listened to my issues, asked a lot of thorough questions (physical, mental, emotional) and did a full evaluation before deciding on a course of treatment (for the eczema and my anxiety). I started off at 2 sessions per week, and within the first two sessions I began feeling a difference during and after the treatments. She also suggested dietary changes (to see if there were food triggers for the eczema) and made sure I was also seeing the right specialists in Western medicine (dermatologist and allergist). Love that she looked at everything holistically. Each practitioner has their own schedule of days and times they are available, so I ended up switching to Ariana after about a month because our schedules lined up. Each one also has their own acupuncture style/philosophy, and I found that I meshed well with Ariana's style. She's always conscientious of any needle application pain (which is minimal and usually only lasts a split second if it happens at all) and adjusts needles if it's uncomfortable for you. They also give you a little buzzer to ring in case you need needles adjusted later or need something else during your treatment -- so nice! Everyone I've gotten treated by has been so kind, genuinely interested in fixing my issues, and courteous. They can do cash and credit card payments, and you can text their business line and someone will text you back (super convenient when running behind!). Even though my new insurance doesn't cover acupuncture (legally CA insurances must cover it for pain, but my company is based in Illinois and thus I'm stuck with Midwest-based insurance, which doesn't mandate acupuncture coverage), I still go because I trust these gals with my wellbeing. Wow this place works!! Came here pas my due date for labor induction. I started having contractions within 5 minutes of my session and was in full labor within 2 hours. Love them! I see Nicole most often, but I've worked with the other ladies and they're all very good. I come in and explain all my bodily pains to them and they do a great job at targeting them with acupuncture. They've been especially good with my lower back pain. Melissa is amazing. Not only is she an incredibly gifted doctor but she is an amazing person. She makes you feel so comfortable, and is very friendly. I originally went in for cupping, and it was life changing. It made my back pain go away, made my whole body feel great, and it seemed to promote an overall happy feeling. Let me be upfront in saying that I haven't even experienced acupuncture from anyone here so they might be amazing BUT I'm giving 1 star on office management alone. I called on a Friday and made an appointment for the following Monday at 7:30am (their office hours are listed as 7am-9pm). I got there at about 7:25am and walked in. There was no one behind the desk but I could hear voices in the back so I assumed someone would greet me shortly. So I waited. After another 5 minutes I got up and walked through the office looking for someone to help me. I found a group of girls exercising and when I asked them if Melissa or Andrea were there they acted like I was crazy. They never offered to help me or anything. They just let me walk away. I went back to the front and tried calling the office while I was there to see if anyone answered. I got a voicemail. So I left a message and the left. It was about 7:45am at this point. I got home and within a few minutes Melissa called me and apologized. She said there had been a miscommunication. I totally understand that this kind of thing can happen so I decided to give them a second chance. Melissa told me that she doesn't usually come in early but that since this had happened to me she would make an exception and come in early on Wednesday. We set an appt for 7:45am on Wednesday. During the next 2-4 hours I got several voicemails from their office. I called back and Melissa answered. She informed me that she couldn't do the 7:45am appt that she had agreed to hours before. At this point I had had enough and told her thank you anyway. It just seems ridiculous to have this many problems before I even step in the door. I found Melissa online after struggling with 'Occipital Neuralgia" a condition in which the occipital nerves are inflamed and they cause massive pain that radiates from the neck to the scalp. I was bed ridden for weeks. The medications that the doctors prescribed were making me feel worse until my doctor recommended that I try acupuncture. I must admit, at first I was very skeptical. Long story short....after seeing Melissa twice a week, the pain subsided by 50% and now I'm about 90% better. I have continued treatments with her on a monthly basis. I have never had experience with the other services offered at the Balance Center so this review is only for acupuncture. I love Dr. Melissa Block! She is professional, educated, and very caring. The facilities are clean and relaxing, yet casual. Scheduling and payment are easy with text reminders and receipts. I have a couple experiences so share: 1) I had never been to acupuncture before and I originally started going because of some post-natal issues. I got an epidural with my first child and the spot where it was inserted was still sore after a year of trying exercising and stretching to feel better. After the first visit, it was 90% gone. The next visit a couple weeks later made it go away completely. 2) I was overdue with my second child and tried kick starting labor by walking, eating spicy foods, etc. I went in for acupuncture, walked around for 20 minutes directly after that and 25 hours later, I had my baby! My husband and I have also used acupuncture to help with allergies, depression, stress (this is more relaxing than a massage to me!), tendonitis, trying to get pregnant, pre-natal, post-natal, weight loss, and much more. I always feel very safe and comfortable with my care which has been especially important when pregnant. I refer friends to her constantly and would tell anyone on yelp to visit! read more

I have been seeing Dr. Block for about a month for a variety of ailments. The first thing I noticed when I arrived for my first session is how neat the waiting area is. I was greeted by both Dr. Block and an office staff person (forgot his name) who were both warm and friendly. For my intake, Dr. Block took a lot of time getting the necessary information for treatments. She always asks how I am feeling at the beginning and end of treatments. My back was killing me and after two doctors giving two very different opinions I called Dr. Snyder up. Three days later the only pain I had left was a slight sting. Nothing I couldn't handle but knew another round of acupuncture couldn't hurt. A needle was placed in my hand. I explained that the needle hurt just a little and so Dr. Snyder ever so slightly moved the needle. All of a sudden the slight sting I had felt moments before were gone.
