After checking in our luggage at the SouthWest Counter, this bright & colorful shop caught my eyes, located near the bathrooms and next to TSA. I loved looking at all the products and what they have to offer. I also had to rush as my other half mentioned that the lines are getting long at TSA, Note to self, allow more time for browsing and shopping when at PDX airport. What I loved about PiPH, - everything! Really fun spot even to look around, it really put a smile on my face, seeing some of the items made me want to be a kid again, esp. the pens and stickers ( Care Bears & Strawberry Shortcake theme) I love the inspirational books and the card sections, some of the cards are funny and true. The items are kind of on the pricey side but think of it this way, will you find the product your are looking for elsewhere, Only at PDX. hehe. The first guy to make a hook for me was an old German fellow who shared an accent with Hermann Goering, and who's small workshop was full of plaster molds of shattered limbs, and their recreations, in various stages of completeness. Over the years, as with everything else, corporate holding companies have been quietly buying up the little independent prosthetics shops, and changing them to look and feel like a doctors office. You make an appointment, check in at the glass partitioned front counter, sit in a badly decorated waiting room until someone calls your name and takes you back to another room where you wait some more. Oregon Artificial Limb Company feels friendly when you walk in the door. There is no glass partitioned counter to report to; you don't need to take a number. The office door is open, and you just walk in. The office staff are very nice and helpful. My prosthetist of twenty-five years comes to the front and greets me by name. We chat a bit and catch up before getting down to business. My first time there, I was given a tour of the shop, introduced to all of the craftspersons, and shown all the ways they will customize my hook. I really like this place. I like the guys in the shop. Building a prosthetic is a craft. Each one is custom built to not only the needs but the lifestyle of each person, and the faceless corporate conglomerate does not lend itself to the inter-personal nature of the craft. Oregon Artificial Limb Company never turns anyone away because they can't pay. I like that too.

The store was also running promo of $10 discount on trial and purchase of some items. They were also giving a nice VS tote bag for purchase over $100. The staff members were very friendly at the store. They assisted my wife with finding sizes and with fitting room. At the register, the checkout was conveniently quick. I finally found Portland Merchant Services a few years ago and will never use anyone else. The deposits go into my account the very next day and other than the normal technology issues that go along with accepting credit cards at my businesses I have never had a problem. Ed answers the phone when I call, and is at my locations within an hour on the rare occasion that something does go wrong. He provides excellent service and even supplies the paper for the machine. When I switched over my processing bill was half what I was paying before and I only wish I had found Portland Merchant Services earlier. I can't recommend them enough.

I went in to buy a bass and a practice amp. I got talked into buying this little…read morerecording/headphone device for the same price I wanted the amp ($160). I was told I had 30 days to return it. I didn't like it and tried to return it a few weeks later. What I wasn't told was that I'd only get $50 as in store credit if the box was damaged (just the box, not the actual product itself). The worst part was the guy looked up the resell price on a used version and it came to about $80, but he then took 35% off even though it's a return. I then wanted to buy an amp (What I originally wanted before I was talked into something else) and asked for something around the $150 mark. He then tried to talk me into an amp without telling me the price. I had to firmly ask what the price was twice before he told me it's $300. Even though I was visibly upset from losing $100 from a product I bought from them because the box was damaged. I finally got him to show me exactly what I wanted. If you go here, know exactly what you want and be firm about it so you're not talked into getting something you don't want that costs more money. Also know that the boxes their products are in are worth $100 so you can't return a perfect condition product, within their return window, if the box is damaged.

I highly recommend being very careful if you must bring your amplfiers there. It's for a repair work finished for my Mesa Boogie Mark III on 3/6/2022. I brought it for a crackling noise and it was just due to a bad 12AX7 tube (V1) due to bad contact on pins. They knew it but they additionally replaced a healthy volume pot, 2 healthy 30uF filter capacitors, while leaving one that was actually bad and underspec (20uF) which was worsening 60hz hum (which is the design weakness with this amp even with DC heater supply for V1). Total cost I paid was $100 + $15 + $16 + $10 + $125 = $266!! In addition, they didn't tighten up the top suspension screws which caused one 12AX7 tube to break during transport. It was not my first time taking the amp there because they are supposedly the only Mesa Boogie service center here. In 2018-2019, it was also them who installed the very JJ 20uF 500V filter capacitor that is underspec! I am engineer myself with a master degree in electrical engineering and I have been learning about repairing and building vintage tube amplifiers in past few years and now I know well enough. I still have all the receipts and documentation and the healthy parts that have been wrongfully replaced.
