Had my first treatment yesterday at 12. I got there early & the parking lot has tight parking spaces. There were only a few available spaces, even before 12. I went in and was greeted. I actually forgot my paperwork but the receptions just had me fill out one paper. Also offered me some hot tea in the waiting room. When it was time to go inside we walked along a long hallway to get to the room. I suppose that's good if you have any questions to ask her on the way there. Sat down and chatted with her about the process & what is done. I've had acupuncture before for stress. So I wasn't scared and already knew what to expect. She placed a few of the needles in various parts of my body. I knew it had pain my hands, from all writing I do. I felt a little pressure from that but none of the others. It was relaxing and neaely slept but wish she had put some relaxing music on while I laid there. Since my mind tends to wander. When a woman does IVF (Invitro Fertilization) good acupuncture can actually raise the probability of a successful outcome during an embryo transfer by about 50%. That is amazingly significant. My fertility specialist works in tandem with two wonderful acupuncturists from this office, Jeneanne Paden, L.Ac and Renee Walker, L.Ac. Both are Licensed Acupuncturists, Masters of Traditional Oriental Medicine and Diplomats in Acupuncture. These woman are highly respected within the San Diego medical community. I first went to see Jeneanne about 5 years ago...when we were preparing for the embryo transfer that resulted in the birth of my daughter. Paden not only is amazing as an acupuncturist but she's extremely familiar with all of the stages of the complicated protocol for IVF. She explains it all much more clearly than any nurse was able to at my doctor's office. Her treatments are warming and entirely relaxing. I had kicked my addiction to caffeine just prior to one visit..and she helped me greatly with the resultant caffeine withdrawal headache. I had also recently managed to addict myself to nasal decongestants (following a bad head cold)...she helped me (once again as a side product of an IVF session) to actually clear out my breathing. I struggled with fertility for 6 years and I seen many different accupuncturist over the years. After relocating to San Diego, Jeneanne came recommended to me from the nutritionist of Randine Lewis's The Fertile Soul. I was at ease once I met Jeneanne as she provided me with a healing and nurturing process that I needed to move forward. I can't say enough about Jeneanne, she has helped me so much on my journey to conceive my daughter . I started with Jeneanne about 3 years ago when my husband and I were struggling to conceive. We tried for about a year when I was 37 and nothing... went to UCSD for every fertilty test under the sun and every test came back normal., we didn't get a lot of answers from our Dr. accept maybe we could try IVF. Didn't get very far with any Fertilty Drs. Performing IVF either.. the treatments were so expensive, very invasive and there was no guarantee. A friend of mine told me I should try Acupunture and she referred me to Jeneanne. About 3 mo. Into my acupuncture treatments/ supplements, we were thrilled to learn we were finally pregnant! Unfortunately we lost that pregnancy @ 8 weeks. I got right back into Acupunture and about 3-4 cycles, bam!! another positive, once again we lost. We went on to have another loss after this one. When I was having trouble getting pregnant my doctor at Scripps suggesting doing acupuncture and told me about Jeneanne Payden with Galena Acuspa. During my first visit she really took the time to get to know me and my body and lifestyle and not only did we have an excellent session she sent me away with lots of suggestions about helping with fertility in general. I ended-up doing IVF but I continued to see Jeneanne which was a huge help. Physically, she helped prepare me for and endure the treatments and medications. Plus she has the best bedside manner which is such a comfort during something as emotionally difficult as IVF. She was the opposite! Genuinely cares for her patients, provides a spa-like experience, works harder than anyone else I know and has the most personable, friendly, loving demeanor. I am so sad I moved out of state and couldn't bring her with (believe me, I tried!). I cannot even begin to describe how amazing this place is! After trying dozens of other acupuncture facilities, I realized there is no one better than Jenneane!! My first cycle I was not able to do acupuncture due to travel, and only got 12 eggs... And none of them were good! On my second cycle Jeneanne saw me once a week and I got 26 eggs!!! This is my first YELP review and I only created this account to make the strongest recommendation for anyone seeking acupuncture treatment to go see Jeneanne! I am struggling with infertility and after 2 egg retrievals resulting with only 1 embryo on ice, I decided I needed help to deal with the stress and disappointment before my one and only embryo transfer. Thank goodness my nurse referred me to Jeneanne. From the outset, Pam was kind and personable with my questions and my scheduling needs (I was traveling back and forth from the Bay Area for my appointments in La Jolla). The quality of this place does not stop with Pam. The rooms and tables are clean, quiet and with a comforting atmosphere. Jeneanne is in a league of her own! She is knowledgeable, competent, confident and reassuring. I've had 4 sessions and without exception, all the acupuncture sessions were wonderful. During every session, she has helped me to quiet my mind and drift off in a state of relaxation. (This is a feat that no other acupuncturist, and there have been 2, nor yoga instructor, of which there have been many, has ever helped me to achieve). To top it all off, at the end of each session, Jeneaane gives me a little massage which is amazing! My transfer was yesterday which I followed with my session with Jeneanne. While I know this is just the beginning of a long 2 week wait which may or may not have a successful outcome, I know that the acupuncture helped me to be in the best and most relaxed state of mind. My little girl is now almost five months old. I started seeing Jeneanne before my IUI and then visited her immediately after my IUI, a couple times that week and then during the first trimester. I am 100% convinced that fertility acupuncture helped me get and stay pregnant. Then I saw her again beginning around week 36 and was able to stay preggers full term til week 40.
