During a routine annual eye exam, a technician took my husband glasses to inspect them while initial scans were being completed. The glasses were returned to us in the exam room with deep symmetrical scratches down the center of both lenses, damage that was not present when we arrived. We immediately pointed this out to both the technician and the doctor. At checkout, we asked a simple question: What is my husband supposed to do until we can come back to pick out and order news ones in the meantime? Initially, the office denied responsibility, but after the office manager spoke with the technician they did concede that the damage had occurred while the glasses were in their care. We were assured they wanted to make this right and the lenses would be replaced and that the process would take about a week. Which we appreciated.... However, that was almost a month ago now. Since then, we have followed every instruction given to us, shown up for each appointment they told us to, and waited, often more than an hour per visit, even with scheduled appointments! After the first delay, we were told the lenses had finally arrived but that we still needed to schedule an appointment to have them installed. When we came in for that appointment, we learned they had ordered the wrong lenses entirely, single-vision reading lenses instead of a direct replacement of his progressive lenses, making them unsafe and unusable for driving. They acknowledged their mistake and ordered another set. At yet another scheduled appointment, we were told that the lenses once again could not be installed because their "cutting machine made an error" and the lenses don't fit his frames. We were then told, yet again, to wait until next week. Currently my husband still does not have the glasses he needs and is left to use the ones this office damaged. This was not a cosmetic issue or a minor inconvenience, these are medically necessary glasses that affect his ability to function safely and work comfortably day to day. We don't want them to give us some new fancy frames or make improvements on the old lenses, we have just asked for the simplest and quickest way to repair the ones that were damaged. Had we known what we do now, we would have simply ordered new glasses originally or taken the more updated RX to another provider and ordered them then. At every step, their mistakes have resulted in our time, energy, and patience being drained. We have been understanding. We have been cooperative. We have jumped through every hoop asked of us. A almost a month later, we are no closer to a resolution, and being told to just wait again feels highly unacceptable. We are extremely disappointed and expected better from Dr. Bjorn and his staff.

We had already been to two other places in town to purchase eye glasses from and walked out. It felt like they were bothered that we showed up. We were told to look around at all of the frames and someone would be with us shortly. As we perused the displays, they really don't list the prices on their frames, just code numbers. We finally found a couple of frames and then we were greeted by their sales representative. Then here comes the craziness. To get all of the additional options for your eyeglasses, my cost was $990 for one single pair of glasses. Insurance did its job in getting me these glasses for free, but seriously folks, $990 for glasses? I bought a no nonsense pair of frames. They weren't even a famous brand name I recognized and they were $320. That just crazy, it's just plastic. Well, we were finally done. Now the bad news. It's going to take them 3 weeks to get my glasses made and sent to the store. That's way too long. Everywhere I've ever shopped in the past for eyewear has only taken them about 1 week to turnaround and get them back to me. 3 weeks is way too long to wait for eye glasses in my humble opinion. I'm on the fence here. This was our third stop for eye glasses. We almost walked here too, but we caved in and just wanted the madness to stop. We just wanted eyeglasses, nothing more, nothing less. I really can't recommend this facility. I wasn't really impressed at all with their service team or their selection of eyewear. They only seemed to carry overpriced name brand frames. And don't think you are going to find something really splashy or something trendy with a lot of color here. This was all middle of the road boring frames. Just because we get older doesn't mean we don't appreciate style and color. Parking was easy, this shop is in a medical building on the first floor. Get your wallet out, this place is very expensive if you don't have great insurance coverage!

After returning home to Tennessee, I took my prescription to Sam's Club in Bristol, Virginia, to have my glasses filled. I ordered a regular pair of glasses and a pair of sunglasses, totaling nearly $600, and let's not forget about the 1.5-hour drive each way from my home. When I picked up my glasses, I tried them on as usual. While I could see well for reading, my distance vision felt hazy, as if I were looking through a cloud. The staff suggested I wear my old glasses for the night and give my eyes a chance to adjust. I followed this advice, but the next morning, I still experienced cloudiness with the new glasses. After wearing them all day in an attempt to acclimate, I covered each lens to check for clarity. I found that my left eye was significantly blurry, indicating that the issue was with my new prescription glasses. Consequently, I scheduled another eye exam in my local area, which I also had to pay for out of pocket. The new doctor conducted a thorough examination and concluded that my prescription had not changed at all. This meant I would need to make another three-hour round trip back to Bristol, Virginia, to have a correct prescription filled. Additionally, I realized I would not have needed to order new sunglasses, as I already owned two pairs that were suitable based on my existing prescription. On the other hand, I do require new regular glasses, as my current pair is scratched and approximately five or six years old. After my recent eye exam, I contacted Kelly, the manager at Tree City Eyecare, to explain the situation regarding my prescription. She informed me that she couldn't assist me immediately but promised to consult with the owner, Dr. Jaimen Dixson, and get back to me the following day. When Kelly called the next day, she relayed that the owner would not take any action. I expressed that I was not seeking a full refund; I only requested reimbursement for my second eye exam. I explained that I had incurred over $800 in costs when it should have only been around $430, not to mention the inconvenience and travel expenses involved. Kelly suggested I return to Idaho for a re-examination, but I declined. I offered to show her my receipt and the new prescription as proof that I had been misdiagnosed and that it was unreasonable for them not to cover my new eye exam. I emphasized that this situation reflects poorly on their business practices, as I am a business owner myself.

But the icing on the cake has been Dr. McNeel's excellent care when I was in a bit of an emergent situation. I was able to leave a message for him on a Saturday and he texted me back within minutes. I got a prescription within hours. I've found him to be extremely communicative and caring; following up with me of his own accord just to see how I was doing. Pretty rare to find that level of service but I'm extremely grateful I did!
