I had an appointment for an annual eye exam, but was also recovering from a stye. I told the person on the phone this. When I saw the doctor he actually YELLED at me because I didn't know whether I was there for an annual checkup or a medical exam. He left the room, went and checked with his staff who apparently told him that they had told me to come in and they would figure out what type of visit it would be when I got there. He came back in and apologized but I could tell he was still angry. Totally inappropriate reaction! The office staff was absolutely wonderful, but I will never go there again. read more

I really liked this place when the patriarch of the family was the eye doctor. However I think in the past five years it's gotten really sloppy. I don't have a lot of confidence in these guys anymore Totally random business hours. It took me three trips to actually find them open so I can pick up a pair of glasses. I understand that sometimes medical offices have sort of random hours but they are also operating a retail establishment and for it to be closed on for example, the third Thursday of the month, is just ridiculous. read more

Staff are friendly, professional, and absolutely wonderful. Great help, and it is a pleasure to be here and get glasses and contacts. The doctors to the assistants to the frame technicians are amazing. HOWEVER, the front receptionist is rude, condescending, and always seems frustrated when she has to explain anything. She may know her stuff, but please at least try to understand that some of us don't know everything about your industry. And it's not just me-she had the came condescension during her phone call the 3rd time I came in. 5 star quality service, 1 star off for having to fight your way through to get there. read more

I've been to the giant eye doctor offices before. The places where you are treated more as a number and another bit of money through the door instead of a person in need of treatment. Not so here! I'm beyond happy that I made the move to Idaho Eyecare Center! From the very start of the visit, the building and vibe is welcoming and comfortable. The folks at reception are happy and willing to answer any questions you might have. And they do it with easy smiles. Once you're back in the testing room or the exam rooms, the doctors are prompt, friendly and thorough. My first ever visit with Dr. Muto shocked me because he was more attentive, professional and friendly than any other optometrist I've ever seen. This one encounter earn them my business for as long as I live in Boise! Recently, I've had a problem with dry eyes. Dr. Matthew Muto has seen me on several occasions to work through the issue. His compassion and competency helped me see clearly and comfortably. And he never rushed me out the door to get someone else in the chair. That's a rare experience in modern healthcare. If you're looking for a new optometrist, I couldn't recommend this fantastic operation more! Five big stars! read more

Unfortunately I am taking my business elsewhere, and I suggest you consider it as well. Have heard great things about the Drs., but the staff and office policies definitely speak to the fact that they have enough clients and are not interested in adding any others. I called to make a new client apt today and they scheduled me 3 mos out, not happy, but can deal with that; asked to be on a cancelation call list because I need to get my eyes checked sooner rather than later, response was "we don't do that-we don't fill cancelations"; and third, even though I have VSP vision insurance they would NOT schedule an apt for me without my providing them with my Medical Ins! I have never had to have medical ins for an eye exam visit. A routine eye exam is covered by my Vision Ins. and not dependent upon or even claimable against medical insurance (which of course I mentioned and was told I couldn't make an apt.) Far too many hoops to jump through and no customer service-they have enough clients to not need new ones and their attitude clearly communicates that. I prefer to take my business to companies who actually wants it vs. a company whose attitude right from the beginning is that I am LUCKY to get an appointment. I really wonder if the policies were put in place by the Drs? read more

Very friendly and inviting staff with a well organized and clean center. They had a small waiting area with some toys for the children. Also they have a wonderful selection of glasses. I didn't feel they were pushy about "add-on" sales - glasses or retina photo. Overall, my experience was a great one, I plan to take my little kids there. So, they have made it easy to contact them through their website as well as by phone or in person. I appreciate their text/email reminders for my appointment. Dr. Lauren Huber is great. She was friendly and professional, and did a great job with my 5 year old son, including making his eye drops as easy as they could be despite the pain. No easy task! The staff is friendly and professional, the office is nice and clean. The only reason I am giving them 3 stars instead of 4 is because their frame selection is expensive and they charge $20 to readjust frames that haven't been purchased there. To me that is something which should be included free as a client who regularly goes to this eye doctor. I have never heard of a place not taking 30 seconds to tighten frames for a client. That makes me less likely to be a regular at this location. read more

Wonderful experience! This was my first time going here for a checkup, and the reception staff was friendly and welcoming. The tech (?) who did all the initial eye tests was so nice and he explained what each test was for and what to expect with each one. I saw Dr. Davis for my checkup and he was great, as well--it didn't feel like he was rushing through my run-of-the mill appointment and he really seemed to be interested in welcoming me as a patient and making sure I got everything I needed. The woman who checked me out at the end of the appointment helped me order new contacts, got me a copy of my prescription, and was super nice, to boot. It was a really efficient appointment, but I still felt well looked after. I will definitely be back! read more

I was originally scheduled to see Dr. Huber, but unfortunately she was sick that day, so Dr. Muto had come in to cover her patients. That told me that this office operates as a team and keeps its commitments. My experience with all of the folks in the office was excellent, from the front desk all the way through the appointment, the eyeglass selection, and the checkout. First of all, what a great experience. I am so glad I choose Idaho Eyecare Center. I have never had to "choose" a new doctor, as I am new to the area, and have had the same doctor from my very first optometric visit. (25+ years). I was very nervous, in having to find a new provider. I found all aspects of my visit and interaction with each staff member, from receptionist all the way through to billing were top notch. Every eye appointment I have had here, the optometrist I see has asked me investment advice knowing that I work in that field. During my last appointment I tried to make it very obvious that I was not there to provide free advice and that I was at an eye appointment - not work. I wear contacts and have a pair of glasses that I purchased before becoming a patient at Idaho Eye Care that I wear typically from the bathroom at night to the walk to my bed and vice versa so there is no need for me to buy a pair from them when I don't wear them. I went in and simply asked someone to look at the adjustment on them and I was told I would be charged for that service. I was appalled that I pay as a customer there AND I am irritated during every visit I make there to give free investment advice and they were unwilling to do that for me unless I bought glasses from them. read more

I wasted thousands of dollars on glasses that I couldn't see right out of before I went to Dr Muto and found out I needed prisms, now I have perfect vision near, midrange, and far and for the computer. I couldn't be happier with him or the nicest ladies in the office that help beyond the call of duty in frame selection. The front desk people are also wonderful and we are so pleased with all of the staff. It is an exciting adventure to go to the eye doctor now. My husband was fitted also and is extremely happy with the results and with my correction. We appreciate how courteous and patient they all are and Dr Muto is so very well educated and experienced and has the latest equipment to be sure he is getting it right.
