Great hole in the wall country bar in Deep Ellum. They have great bands about every night. If you want to go two-steppin to a live band and don't want huge crowds, this might be the place. Plus, they have great craft beer. read more

Flew to Dallas for the cowboys game and stumbled upon this dive bar. Jordan the bartender is awesome, he can tell you everything about all the local bars and even the history of his own. The graffiti capital of Dallas - you can write on damn near anything in here and they provide the markers! This honky-tonk/burger joint has been a staple in Deep Elum ever since I was a child. When I worked for the Stroh's Brewery, back in the late '80s, "me an da guys" used to come here after work, for some cold suds and a big, greasy burger. There is a juke-box with a decidedly country flavor, and a pool table. They have a full bar and a usually friendly staff, with live bands and a blues/bluegrass jam on the weekends. It's authentic, laid-back, and broken in, and has developed a long-time, regular customer base. Shuffleboard and $1.50 draft beers only add to the charm of this dive. read more

Great spot for live music. No cover and drinks are surprisingly cheap but tasty. Laid back atmosphere with walls covered in writing and Knick knacks. Some people dancing. Some people just watching. Great bar for a fun night of people watching. Further enhanced by great bartenders and great bar food. BLT w/cheese is the best ever. Much of the menu is locally sourced: Bread and meats. Those tater tots? Pretty sure they are store bought and they fly out of the kitchen, so they must be good. There is always a live band - and on most nights there is a band with an early start of 730ish. Tonight's band was The Merles and they were great. Old C&W and originals. She's really rude, walks away when you're not even finished ordering and then is annoyed when she got the order wrong...as a bartender myself, I understand it can be annoying and exhausting dealing with people...but it's a dive bar. I've been here only once, and it was in the afternoon. Stopped in with a friend for some Golden Tee, and cheap drinks. We got the Golden Tee, but the drinks weren't all that cheap. We were really expecting some type of drink special at 2pm on a Wednesday. We planned on staying for a few rounds of golf, but left after only 1. A drink special probably would have kept us there longer. I skimmed over the jukebox, and quickly realized that I was in a Country Bar with Punk-Rock decor. The wait-staff was friendly, and fast. But we were the only 2 people in the joint, so that's no judging point. I may go back, as my experience wasn't horrible. But I'm not going to go out of my way. There's 30 Golden Tee machines within a 5 mile radius to my house, so I guess I've got 29 more bars to check out. read more

Adair's Rocks! It is a hole in the wall bar, different from anything I have ever visited. The hamburgers are the best - FANTASTIC! I have been away from Dallas for over 2 years and could not wait to get a burger from this place again! Their beer is ICE cold and cheap...in today's economy that is fabulous! Where else can you find country music lovers, beer drinkers, hippsters, rockers, bikers and tattoo'ed up chicks all under one roof?!!!! I have been going here a couple of Sundays a month to hear "J. Charles and the Trainrobbers", they start off Sunday Funday around 4:30pm. The band is rock/country fusion and the lead singer is a cross between Waylon and Ryan Bales. A mixed crowd for sure, but everyone is friendly, the bar-staff is friendly and always busy. The 5:00 crowd will die down around 7pm and then the 10pm crowd starts shuffling in for the next band. And to top it all off they have a shuffle board and the cook makes a GREAT old fashioned greasy hamburger that would make your mama proud!!! All walks of life are welcome and it is a truley unique place than everyone should try at least once. I love this little hidden treasure in the heart of deep Ellum. My fiancé and I frequent this small bar with great burgers! Some of the best in Dallas. Very reasonably priced with nice serving size. The staff is always nice and genuine. The meat is always fresh. You can frequently catch live music in this place as well, different bands. read more

Definitely a mixed bag. Convenient location for a meeting with friends with free parking behind the building. There is a decent amount of seating, but the musician was a little bit too loud making conversation difficult. I had no real problem getting a drink or a food order placed, but one of my friends had a hard time getting the attention of the bartender. I had a well bourbon (happy hour) that was possibly the shortest pour I have ever received. To make matters worse, it was served to me in a medicine cup. Seriously? there is a difference between dive bar cool and flat out tacky. The food was also a mixed reception. The fries tasted like a frozen Arby's curly fry knock off minus the curly. They were soggy and very under cooked plus had a little bit of an off flavor. I'm guessing the oil was both old and cold. The burger however was excellent. It was thick, juicy and cooked perfectly. I asked for medium pink and actually got it with a good amount of pink. I might go here again for the burger if I plan to eat. I would probably skip it for the bar experience alone though. read more

Umm, Adairs is not for everyone...It's a really cool place to kick back and slam down a few ice cold Lonestar, or maybe a Pearl Beer. The first time I went was during the week. Speed Trucker was playing and the Bar keep tossed an Ice Cold can of beer my way when I asked for one. I quickly flicked the top, popped it open, then slammed a quarter of it down. The beer was so cold it was slushy and frigging fantastic. The band was loud and rockin, the place was nice and cool inside...the seats were comfy, and the peeps were friendly...All in all I had a great experience.. The second time was a different story. Different Bartend, different crowd, different scene...I was a little down about it, but the pretentious dallas folk (not saying all are) have caught on to the scene and I wasn't gonna let it ruin my night. So this guy sits in my seat and I am like excuse me but that's my seat dude..He looks at me standing there in his RL cardigan sweataaah and hush puppies and says too bad... I say NO too bad for YOU.. then Pulled the chair away from him and sat down... he left. Good. No Big deal but hey if someone says excuse me that's my seat, I believe thats the proper etiquette to relieve a seat. Besides, I woulda bought the guy a beer. read more

Of my two go-to friends for burger recommendations, each had a different recommendation for me in Dallas. One told me Twisted Root which I loved, and one told me Adair's which I also loved, but for different reasons. Adaiar's feels like home to me....a dirty, writing on the walls, no door to the bathroom kind of bar with limited delicious choices. Watched football here in peace because it's not a sports bar despite having the game on all 5 screens (including a 70 inch or so projector). The burgers come with their level of well doneness already decided, pickels, mustard, onions, lettuce and tomato. Cheeseburgers have cheese. They're each about $6 and fries are $250 making this a great deal. The burger was delicious--albeit hard to eat because it was fucking TALL. Great juiciness, seasoned well, veggies made for good compliments to the meat. And the fries are awesome too! With a few pitchers and a lot of shots, it made for a great and not too expensive night. If they had a better beer selection I would have just decided to live there. read more
