Came here for the wine tasting and was not disappointed! The lady helping us inside was very informative and personable. She was giving me recommendations drink after drink based on my experiences with them. The white muscadine is amazing! We ended up taking home a bottle of it. The red muscadine is great as well, but not as great as the white. I'm usually a big blackberry sweet wine drinker, but the blackberry here wasn't too great. The view from the hill is beautiful. We sat down after and relaxed in the sun. They have tons of tables in the shade as well as under an awning. They don't do wine tastings on Saturdays, just a heads up. They also have a gift shop inside. read more

We enjoyed the view of this winery. As far as the setup for getting wine or other beverages: it was a bit chaotic and a little disorganized. Food was outside with just a couple of options. We had the pizza, which was good. We did a wine tasting and did get a bottle to share while we were there overlooking part of Hermann, but their wine didn't impress me much. We may go back for the atmosphere when we're in town. read more

This place has the kind of driveway that makes you question what you're going to find at the end, but actually it's picture-perfect! It's got great views of the river, ample seating, and the staff are super friendly! I went on a slower Sunday with a group of lady friends, and we had a blast. We all did the sample flight first, which was awesome, because otherwise I would've made a poor choice in what I thought I wanted. They've got a great selection of wines, and we brought our lunch from the deli in town. I will absolutely be coming back! read more

I would recommend coming here on a Sunday for a wine tasting and to catch some views! The wine here is different but I guarantee you will find something you like. I recommend the Muscadine. The woman working the wine bar was awesome! She was funny, friendly and all around a great time! It gets crazy on Saturdays so this might be a good place to end your trip with. This was our last stop of the day and definitely the way to finish out a fun day of touring wineries. The wines are just okay. Not the greatest but at least drinkable. The nice thing is that they offer mixed drinks and beer so you can enjoy something other than their wines. The view and the Saturday night live music is what you come here for. Saturday nights are a hoot! Bring a few snacks, buy a pizza and a tub of beer and enjoy the festivities. You'll make new friends here for sure. The setting and scenery is breathtaking. If you like LARGE crowds, be sure to go on a Saturday when there is live music, you pay a hefty cover charge to go in even before the band shows up and then you can't purchase cases. We have always gone there on our annual wine trip but after last year and when we arrived at opening, long before the live entertainment and were charged the band cover charge and then were allowed to purchase only bottles for drinking there--no cases or half cases to take home, we decided to avoid it and find a new spot. Not for me. The grounds here are huge with plenty of space for large parties. It looks out over the river. There was a guy setting up to play music which would be nice on a cool evening. There's a full bar which makes it a great spot for bachelorette parties. Personally I prefer wineries that have wine only and less "stuff" around. I was a bit visually overwhelmed in the tasting room with the decor and items for sale. Tastings are served in small cups and I wasn't a fan of that either. I prefer proper tasting glasses. I've spent years wine tasting and a lot of money on good wines. I dumped all of my wines. Again this is ideal for large parties or a party vibe. read more

We've been coming to Hermann for 15 years and typically love the friendly, small town vibe. We have never been treated as rudely as we were treated today, specifically by an employee with long dark hair. If you don't like interacting with the public, I'd suggest a different profession. There's no excuse for treating your paying customers that way. read more

Honestly, this place is only worth the view. It has a expansive deck with the most gorgeous view of the river. But the positives end there. The wine tastings were 6 for $6 and were less than impressive. Everything we tried tasted like a 2 buck chuck from Trader Joe's. Nothing special. What I thought was also weird was that they serve the samples in little medicine cups. I don't know if it's a way to save money but it looks cheap. The ladys behind the bar were nice but had no knowledge of wine. My husband asked one of them which wine tastes most like a Chianti and they both said "I've never heard of that before". Really? Okay. As Jean P mentioned, the deck has an amazing view. We went last summer on a Saturday night. We got some wine, grabbed a spot at a table, and enjoyed an amazing show. More on that in a second... This place is hidden away pretty well. Luckily, we had some locals with us to guide the way. It is up a narrow gravel road that feels like it is carved into the side of a mountain. And of course, this is perfect after a long visit and multiple bottles of wine. As we approached the top of the hill, there was a guy there collecting a cover charge for the entire car. I have to admit that this is ingenius. At a bar, you can peek your head in and see how hopping the place is before paying, but there was absolutely no way to do this on the mountain road. We arrived and it was a little early. We went inside to taste some wine. For all of you wine snobs out there, stay as far away as possible. The wine reminds me of grape juice that sat out on the counter for too long and started developing some crud at the bottom. I couldn't really find any that I liked, but I settled for one that was bearable. We had paid our cover and I wasn't going to leave without seeing the band. And I wasn't going to sit there drinking Sprite. At this point, you might be asking yourself why I gave it a 3 star review. And i have to admit that I am asking myself this same question, but I definitely think it deserves 3 stars and for one reason only.... The people watching. This is the best people watching in all of Missouri. I have visited the entire state and never had so much fun watching people as I did that night. Be sure to visit in the summer at the height of wedding season. On the night we went, there must have been 10 bachelorette parties there. Ok, I feel like I am about to go too far and am being too mean so I am going to stop there before I describe some of the scenes I saw that night. The band did a good job and the crowd obviously enjoyed their performance and the time they were having on the deck. I wouldn't mind going back to see the sights. read more

Please don't skip this winery because it's off the beaten path... The view alone is worth the drive. We came in February and though the hillside covered in vines and the valley below would be absolutely beautiful in Spring/Summer/Fall. Even with everything still brown from winter the sight was pretty. Pack a picnic! Of all the wineries we toured, this would be our go-to place to come and sit for a few hours and knock back a bottle among friends. They have LOTS of outdoor seating. 9Some covered, some open air). One big section enclosed section looks like it would easily be a great place for a wedding reception. read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. The good solely relates to the atmosphere. I really love the view. The view is probably the best out of all the wineries in Hermann. The view is so beautiful and showcases the Missouri River quite nicely. This place also has a great outdoor patio space. So many tables (both in the shade and out in the sun). I'd say another positive is they are open later than other wineries. Finally, they frequently have live bands. Even with the great space and awesome view, I just can't give it higher than 3 stars given the presentation of the wine. While their prices are reasonable (6 tastes for $3 and every taste after that is only 50 cents), they serve the wine in what can only be described as the plastic cup that comes with your Pepto-Bismol. It really detracts from the wine. It also just doesn't make sense given the price of their wines (most are above $17 for a bottle). If I was trying to be objective, I would say their wines are OK and they have a great variety. I really liked their sparkling wines (such as Temptation), but I just can't get over the wine tasting experience. In sum, awesome view, OK wines, and terrible wine tasting presentation. read more

Oak Glenn has the most beautiful view of any of the wineries on the Hermann wine trail. It's not very near the other wineries. It's larger than most of them, with the exceptions of Stone Hill and Hermannhof. I don't think I tried any wines when I stopped in last summer; I just got the passport stamp. I wasn't pressured to taste, which was nice. We did take a nice walk around the grounds. I hope to come back to taste some wine in 2014. read more

Don't feel any need to come back to this winery, other than the great view! To start with, the view was amazing and there was plenty of outdoor seating, which would be great if it wasn't a super hot day in the summer. The inside of this winery is run down and not an ideal place to enjoy a glass of wine. I didn't love how they did wine tastings in plastic shot/medicine glasses and didn't give you real wine glasses if you ordered a bottle to enjoy here. The wine was overpriced and not even from Hermann, MO. Food selection was also incredibly subpar. Try out one of the many different wineries this town has to offer and maybe just come here for a quick picture! read more

Five star views, one star wine. I have visited a couple times and knew I didn't like the wine so I decided to try a seasonal speciality and I was absolutely disappointed in that as well. I would stick to beers on the patio, especially in the summer when they have live music. Adorable scenery! The wines doesn't match up to Stone Hill or Adam Puchta but we did order a few bottles for our collection. Staff are friendly and it's a beautiful place to end the night as you can watch the river flow by (it's actually flooded right now) and watch the beautiful hunter green trees. The view itself is the reason to visit. It overlooks the Missouri river and I imagine is even prettier during the fall. They have a big concrete patch and a bunch of picnic tables that overlook the Missouri River. The clientele is pretty young, loud and drunk, from what I experienced. It kind of ruined the ambiance. But onto the wine tasting. You get 6 tastings for $3. They serve the tastings in plastic shot-glass style cups, which was a negative in my mind -- not that $3 is expensive, but if you charge for a tasting, I expect to at least taste it out of a wine glass. The woman who did our tasting was nice, but didn't seem like she knew a ton about the wines. On to the wine -- I usually like Norton, but their Norton was not nearly as good as other wineries' Nortons (Stone Hill, Montelle). The Chambourcin was almost undrinkable -- might have been a bad bottle, but it was bad. The Chardonnel and Vidal Blanc were both alright, but nothing I'd want to buy a bottle of. Pros: great view! OakGlenn was our 3rd (and 8th) stop on the wine trail and the winery with the most beautiful view. Its located on the outskirts of Hermann so one you'll want to hit up as you make your way into the city. Be sure to take a few pictures of the area, you'll have plenty of opportunities. The staff is friendly and they pointed us in the direction of where our wine trail items were located. The food they gave us (bbq brisket) was to die for but I wasn't a huge fan of the wine. The rest of their tastings will cost if you're interested. OakGlenn was the only winery on a Sunday that was having live music and open late so once we were done with the entire trail, we headed back and grabbed some sodas and settled in to hear the music the rest of the afternoon. read more

This is the best view in the Hermann area. The view is stunning, just lovely. By this metric alone, I would say that no matter what else you think of OakGlenn, you should go and see the view. The tasting room and deck itself is quite new and modern. The deck is really large, with a stage on one end and a bar on the other. The tasting room is full of gimmicky things like "woozies," which are wine class koozies. The atmosphere at OakGlenn is less refined and more party central. It didn't appeal to me, but there were plenty of people there using it as a place to get pretty drunk. I was not a fan of the wines. I generally like dry reds (not really compatible with Missouri grapes, so that's not OakGlenn's fault) and crisp, slightly sweet whites (which Missouri grapes do very well). OakGlenn's wines were along the level of White Zinfandel. I prefer a nicer tasting experience and a throatier wine, and OakGlenn was my least favorite of the four vineyards we visited in the Hermann area. read more

It's all about the view. And merchandising. We've been here twice and it's a MUST SEE for the view. You definitely don't want to go to Hermann without stopping by here, especially if the weather is nice for sitting outside. As for the winery, well Oakglenn is a bit different than other wineries. When you walk in the front door, it's vaguely reminiscent of walking into a convenience store, with candies, snack bags and various items for sale all around. Nothing charming about it. The lady pouring (we found out she's the owner) was very nice and helpful with questions. We had been here a few years back and she was not nice at all. I wouldn't mention this, except later that day we mentioned Oakglenn to a local and they asked if the lady was nice to us, because she is often not too pleasant. For us, I guess the results were 50/50. The wines? Can't remember. I think I'm in good company here. Go for the view. They also have live music until 10 PM on weekends. read more

As a local, it has been sad to see a decline in this fun and beautiful winery over the last few years. We came to see some friends at 5pm (when the property closes at 6pm) and were given no break on the $10 cover charge, even for our DD dropping us off. The band was terrible!! Nothing beats this view! Dana is super nice and very helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and approachable. She makes the best sangria and the other wine is great too. There is a lot of variety for affordable snacks (crackers, cheese, hummus, etc). Plus this winery stays open a little later than the rest due to being out of city limits. We went there twice, the view was really nice. We did a tasting the first time, and enjoyed several of the wines. The second time we got a bottle of Trolley White, to go with the delicious pizza we got from 4th Street Pizza. My wife and I on our 5th anniversary came to Hermann for a BnB and of. Purse the wine tour. This place receives a 3/10 review. We love our dry/semi-sweet wines and this was barley drinkable. Meh. The view is GORGEOUS, and they have a great patio, but I could do without the wine. We bought a bottle of their white port on a previous trip years back, and it's pretty good. I do enjoy a good white port, because of their comparable rarity. We didn't buy a bottle of anything this time though. The wine just isn't all that great. Supposedly the gorgeous view and live music do attract quite a crowd, and we almost joined had it not been for a late dinner. They do have beer for the music festivities, and the wine isn't undrinkable. I'd have some while enjoying the bands, but if a had another choice (I don't like beer), OakGlenn's wines wouldn't be my first pick. read more

Spent a Saturday out here for a friend's birthday - great location, amazing view. Wine is average with a variety of sweet table wines. The wine tasting/purchasing area is a bit cheesy with a convenience store vibe. Although, the staff is more than friendly and helpful! This place was PACKED but fortunately, we were able to snag a few tables. Be prepared to sit in the grass if you don't make it there early! The best part here is the view. The wine isn't bad to me, but I know a lot of others who aren't big fans. I just like the view and the setting so much that I don't really care what I'm drinking. They have a nice outdoor area where they can have music etc. There's also an indoor area to sit and drink if it's raining or excessively hot. The tastings are $3 for 6 tastings. I've seen a few people walk out upon learning that, but if $3 is going to break you then you shouldn't be out drinking...you should be looking for a job. The staff has always been very friendly when I've been there as well. read more

The wines are not the best I've ever had, but still pretty good if you like semi-sweet to sweet wines.
