The woman at the counter suggested we go left on the trail, that way we enjoy the tunnel plus the coast downhill on the return trip. It was a great tip, and I believe I rode an entire mile coming back without using the pedals. There's a repair shop there, as well as a wonderful place to buy ice cream and BBQ. The trail itself is quite scenic, and there's a mix of runners, bikers and walkers. It's an enjoyable outing. If you are tall like me, they may not have a good fit for your rental. The attitude is "one size fits all, we can adjust the seat.". That works to an extent, but I would have enjoyed a larger frame.

Long story short they went over my bike with a fine tooth comb fm top to bottom to make sure everything was in working order. After that I talked to the store manager because I have never done this before & what he would recommend for a trip like this? He recommended what I would need for a trip like this for 6 days & five nights. Needless to say had no problem with bike and thank God I took the store manager advice because everything he recommended sure came in handy. Fast forward to this spring I had not ridden my bike since I came back fm my trip to DC it was plain dirty. I took it over to Pro Bike - South Hills for them to get it ready for this bike season. When I got back it looked like a brandy new bike which looked like it came off the assembly line that how clean & nice they made it. After picking up the bike and testing it out in the neighborhood, I found the shifting was very difficult and appeared to need further adjustment. Took the bike back and felt like I was being scolded for questioning their work. Rode the bike sparingly last winter due to the mild conditions. Had it out on MLK day 2024 and shifting was still poor. Took it to a reputable shop and they removed the back wheel only to find a washer was used as "spacer" on the rear axle to "align" it properly. They had never seen such a thing. Bottom line, I now need to spend about $400 for a new back wheel. "Not Good" rating is to high for this shop. See photo.

I had called earlier in the day to inquire about cycling helmets. They told me the brand they carried which I initially wasn't interested in but decided to make the 1.5 hour trip to check them out. Upon arrival we were impressed with the selection of bikes but the helmet selection was limited to one brand and sizes were limited as well. As I was looking for a helmet my wife was looking at bikes. A sales person who was initially working with a customer had that customer walk away. At this point my wife said hello and the sales person halfway aknowleged her and walked away ignoring the fact that she may have a question. We decided to shrug this off and continue to look around. We took a stroll to their basement where they have more bikes and did some preliminary sizing for my wife as we are in the market to purchase a new one for her. Then wee made our way back upstairs and back to the helmets. I had decided that I liked one of the helmets but wanted to compare with others they had on display but couldn't find the color or size I needed. After having other employees ignored us I decided it was time to go and internet shop for a helmet. As we were leaving the employee that blew my wife off earlier finally took some interest in us. At this point we had been in the store for at least a half hour. I told him I was looking at their helmets and interested in the Specialized Search helmet they had on display but wanted to compare with other helmets they had. He proceeded to take us to the helmets to show us comparable models one of which was the LOMA. He then walked back to the counter to look and see if they had my size and color I wanted in stock. He then announced that they only had black. Then as I was asking him about the Propero helmet they had on display he turned to help another costomer that had walked in and never acknowledged my question. It's unfortunate that a shop that was recommended to me by a friend fell so short of how highly he and his wife spoke of them.

I shop here mostly to browse the women's workout clothes. The store is a large size across multiple floors with escalators and is packed full with merchandise. I am not interested in purchasing certain brands such as Calia and Abercrombie and Fitch, so I would prefer that other brands be offered. I do like the t-shirts for Penn State and the Pittsburgh Penguins. I thought that the quality was high but that the prices were also high.

I had to bring my bike in for some maintenance in April 2020 during the coronavirus/covid shutdown. Biketek still offered fast and reliable service, setting me up with a new bottom bracket in just a couple days, despite being short-staffed due to the pandemic. I really appreciate how accommodating they have continued to be during this time. Outdoor activities are one of the only fun things we can do right now, so I'm very glad to have a working bike! Their prices for parts and maintenance seem in line with what I would expect.

When I pointed out it out I got, 'you're in the safest neighborhood in Pittsburgh... and my wife was home." Maybe so, but she didn't answer and wasn't close if someone decided to snag my bike. I even opened the unlocked basement door and yelled. So I guess no bikes ever get stolen in Forest Hills, but I can tell you where to find one. Didn't appreciate the lackadaisical attitude. Got our bikes back to the tune of $500, BFs rear hub was loose, my gears skipped after new drivetrain installed, had to abort first ride after picking it up. Bf ended up tweaking everything rather than taking them back. He didn't bother to call him about the rear hub. BF wanted to try out local bike shop bc they're 5 minutes from my house, but this guy didn't impress me. I'll go back to Kindred.
