We began the planning process a year in advance of our ride and Dana led us through every step of the way. Everything went without a hitch: shuttling us from Cumberland to Pittsburgh, securing great accommodations for our large group, and transporting our luggage from point to point. Dana even arranged perfect autumn weather for us; the only rain we experienced was during our tour of Fallingwater. The service provided by Dana, the rest of the GTB team and their partner businesses along the GAP was well worth every penny we spent. Highly recommended!

Wow! Great little tourist spot that doesn't feel like a tourist spot. I had never been to the…read moreincline on my Pittsburgh visits. Further, the incline wasn't even in the plans this time. Somehow or another I didn't realize you could walk across all to most of the bridges in Pittsburgh. As soon as I found that out, it changed the game. We walked from our downtown hotel, across a bridge to the incline, up the incline, more walking/eating up top, back across to Point State Park before heading back to the hotel. We did this on the day of the concert so it was the perfect way to fill the daytime. Overall, the incline is fun. It's a relic of the past and I think a great asset to the city. At the bottom, there's next to nothing(missed opportunity I think). At the top, you have views, various restaurants, and historical markers. There was a trail of some kind we were on. It had a few historical markers on it and appeared to go on forever. We didn't have time that day to explore a ton but we did check out a portion. I didn't realize the French claimed Pittsburgh for years at one point. They fought off the British, Native Americans and anyone that came along for 5-6 years. The worst thing about it is needing cash to travel but it is a cheap trip. 2.50 each way. That's a steal compared to making it up that hill some other way. If you're in Pittsburgh, I think this goes on the must-list. You should at least check it out once.

Total distance is about a mile, but you do have to go up some stairs and of course across two bridges. The views the entire time are breath taking. The actual incline looks like it hasn't been touched much since it opened in 1877. I love that about it. I had a great time taking a video from the bottom to the top and taking photos along the way. The price is $2.50 one way for adults, and $1.25 one way for kids over 6 years old. The last tram trip is at 12:30am.

Sara's follow-up is remarkable. Everything went as planned without a single hiccup! Kurt and I are in our mid-60's, and are pretty big fellas. We had high expectations, and with Sara's help they were exceeded. Sara made sure we had 2 beds at each hotel and B&B. The accommodations were excellent. The proprietors were very friendly. The meals ranged from good to outstanding. The directions were superb. And the collateral material that she provides is indispensable to having a great ride. Along the way we found ourselves to be source of information for others along the trail, who hadn't booked with Bike the GAP, and were looking for lodging, restaurants, etc. And, might I add, the scenery is marvelous, and the people are really friendly!

It holds up to 16 people & 12 people actually do the pedaling! There is one person in the middle as the bartender and pours everyone's drink! Ride lasts about 2 hours and you can. The communication was great throughout. Our guide was awesome. He was very knowledgeable and on top of the responsibilities of the tour. This is a great activity to push yourself, but not in a way that you will regret it the next day. A great time had by all! The views are spectacular, rolling hills and so many colors of green and blue were breathtaking. Mile 9 was NOT our favorite mile. There is trail maintenance happening and that's a GOOD thing, but...the gravel is thick in many areas so riding the bike was sketchy at best. Thankfully it wasn't much more than that mile. I loved the train track right next to the trail and my prayers were answered when, lo and behold, a train appeared! It was stopped so as to clear a fallen tree but once removed (minutes) they were on their way. The train was filled with people who were happy to see bikers on the trail as we were happy to see, and wave at them. Great trail.

He said come on over, stayed open past time on Thursday 2 SEP to help two random out of town bicyclists. He not only helped but let me in the sacred space in the shop and showed me how to deal with the wheel on my Cannondale Topstone...I was afraid of the disc brakes [had tube, levers and pump], but had not practised removing a wheel or bothered to watch a YouTube video. I had spent 32 glorious miles on the GAP with my wonderful spouse...last 2 walked in cleats! Painful lesson on preparing ahead of time...so embarressed and me a boy scout and Army Vet. Thank you Hutch for your service in our brother USAF! Blessings always. I am sure this would be our go-to place if we lived anywhere within an hour...would be totally worth the drive.

They've got so much stuff packed in making so much for the eye to see. Many, many treasures. This is the oldest bicycle shop/museum in the world!! All sorts of fun displays, over 3,500 bikes. Themed bikes, vintage, and hard-to-find bicycles. They've got movie props and so much more too. If you're visiting Pittsburgh, add this place to your stop. It's worth the time!

There's nothing boring "museum" about Bicycle Heaven, it will entertain all ages, even if you've never ridden a bike in your life!
