This is a well-run shooting club in Santa Clarita. If you're coming from LA, it's actually just before you get into Santa Clarita. There are multiple ranges, depending on what you want to shoot, a restaurant with quality food, a small bar (they do not allow you to shoot after drinking, but the reverse is fine), a gun shop with a very good selection and knowledgeable staff, and several events throughout the year. What really makes this place great is the staff at the ranges. If they see someone doing something unsafe, they call it out and put a stop to it immediately, which is what you want at a gun range. But more than that, they're friendly and more than willing to help you with tips on shooting or with any weapon malfunction--very important for new shooters. Guys like Savage and Jimmy really help make the rifle range an enjoyable experience. As far as the different ranges, there is a long row of shotgun clay/skeet shooting at the front when you pull in. That's also where you find the restaurant and some clean bathrooms. There is also a small shop with clothing, accessories, and some very high-end shotguns. This is where you check in for the shotgun range. To head to the archery range, park there and make a left past the main building and up a hill. I haven't been to the archery range yet, so I can't comment on it. For the rifle range, continue to the left past the ramp for the archery range. It's a bit of a walk, especially if you're carrying a bunch of weapons and ammo. It's paved, and I believe they have golf carts available to help transport you if you're disabled or just need the help. There is a small shop where you check in, with accessories, ammo, and targets available for purchase, as well as various rifles available for rent. At the rifle range, you can shoot most calibers of rifle, shotgun, or handgun (but no hollow points), so it's fun for all. You can set up cardboard target stands or use the steel targets spread throughout the range. I'm not sure how far back it goes--probably about 75-100 yards. I've heard a rumor that if you bring in a watermelon or pumpkin, you can shoot it, but I haven't checked the validity of that yet. The only negative about the rifle range is that the only bathrooms there are porta potty's. For the pistol range and gun shop, when you pull into the parking lot, instead head to the right, where there is an additional smaller parking lot. There are some nicer bathrooms out front. Inside is the pro shop/gun shop, where the guys (I think their names are Frankie and Rick) are very helpful. If you want to try any of the handguns before purchasing, they have them for rent as well. There is a paper range and a steel range. I believe that, aside from handguns, you can also shoot small handgun-caliber rifles there. At the paper range you can shoot hollow points (at least that was allowed last time I was there), but not at the steel range. There are about 10-12 stalls on each range. I don't think either range extends past 75 yards. For the paper range, you can purchase targets at the shop or bring your own to put on cardboard stands. One of the guys there is extremely helpful if you need tips or have any questions. I believe his name is Page-hope I got that right. On the steel side, they have a plethora of steel targets set at different distances. The nice thing about the steel range is that you never have to stop and wait while people change out their targets. There are also an additional two speed plate lanes at the end that are first come, first served. Again, the employees do a good job of keeping an eye on everyone and maintaining a safe environment. Don't forget to bring ear and eye protection. But if you need it, they have both available. I don't think they currently charge you to borrow either. They also have memberships available, with massive discounts on the membership a couple of times a year during events. One tip - if it's your first time, make sure you fill out the waivers online before you go. It will save you time when you get there. There is a main waiver everyone signs, plus additional waivers for each range you plan on using (ie shotgun, rifle, archery, pistol, etc.). I highly recommend Oak Tree to anyone looking to try shooting for the first time, anyone looking to purchase a firearm and try it out first, and experienced shooters looking for a good, safe, convenient place to shoot. read more

Very pleasant range tucked away in the hills by Valencia/Santa Clarita. Good service at the desk, you can and should sign waivers in advance via their website for smooth processing. They have a great selection of rentals if you so happen to need it or want to try stuff out, pricing is available on their website. This visit I enjoyed their steel pistol range, they have an option to shoot paper as well on a separate part of the pistol range. The bays are nice and wide, lots of space to comfortably shoot on the steel range. Reasonable pricing and the location is a nice and quiet woodsy forest vibe. There is parking in front of the club/restaurant/shotgun range (Rifle is to the left), as well as if you hit a right, there was a bit of parking in front of the pistol ranges and gun store. It was my first time at Oak Tree Gun Club today and I have nothing but positive things to report. The staff is incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. They were very kind to me (I was a little nervous since it's been so long since I went to a range) and made me feel safe and assured. I went as a solo female, and would recommend other women to go "give it a shot" as well. The pros will help you from start to finish, and even the guys just there on the range who didn't work there were nice, too. I made new friends! Great selections at the shop, easy parking, straightforward no-fuss place. Great value for time and money on the ammo, rental & lane. If you also need gear and gadgets, backpacks, apparel, cleaning tools...they have it. Also- I did not try it but the bbq food truck smelled amazing and I will definitely be doing that next time. First timer. Shotgun sport clay shooting. Went with a group. It was very beautiful. Went on a Friday morning from open to close and no one was there but us, which was nice. The scenery is amazing. It was fun overall but unfortunately some of the stations were not working or it had broken clays. It's also like a mile walk to cross over all stations. Make sure to bring yourself plenty of water to stay hydrated and wear appropriate clothing and shoes for it. read more

I'm not a big fan of leaving bad reviews but I gave this place a second try and I don't think it's for me. At the pistol range, the whole staff seems very rude and not helpful. Maybe it's not their intention but I don't know it feels kind of uncomfortable, overly tense, and kind of passive aggressive. I'm only giving it two stars because a couple of range masters were pretty cool. I'd probably go the a place to shoot going forward. Brought my 10 y/o for the 1st Shots class. She absolutely loved it. I accompanied her for the day. First 1/2 is training, lunch break, then second 1/2 is hands on training/shooting. Our instructor was named Vince and he was such a gem to learn from. Highly recommend as an instructor! Our group of 8 was mixed in terms of experience with firearms, from *zero experience* to "I've shot a gun a few times". My daughter wasn't the only one brand spanking new to the scene. This is important to note, because our instructor never lost anyone's attention. He was able to teach the folks who were new in a way that didn't have the more advanced students lost or twiddling their thumbs. Partially, he's pretty entertaining/funny, but mainly, you can see Vince's love for the sport and can tell he's a wealth of knowledge. By the end of this training, my daughter felt so confident, and actually did pretty well for her first time! Grateful for Vince's knowledge, patience and expertise. Just finished the "First Shots" with Chief Ranger Safety Office and Firearms Instructor Vince, and it was a fantastic experience.As a 51-year old woman w/zero prior pistol experience, I feel incredibly fortunate to have Vince as my instructor. The class was a great mix or ages and genders, and Vince's teaching style was both informative & easy to follow. We were able to handle about 6 different pistols in the classroom, which was incredibly helpful. My friends and I came here this morning to shoot some shotgun. One of my friend own it and brought his own ammo so we didn't have to rent or buy ammo. The only thing we had to pay for was the clay targets which wasn't too much. The biggest delay here is when you're paying to go shoot because there only 1 person working and for some reason they just take a while. Once you pay, then you'll get your card to put in the machine to deploy the clay target. A truck will take your party up to the shooting range up in the mountains and it's a pretty bumpy ride with no seatbelt so hold on. We had a great time at station 1, 4, 6 and then went to station 7 where it's like shooting at a moving object. Remember if you have any remaining balance on your card to take a picture because we had an issue where the person working the counter said we used up all our balance but we didn't. read more

I want to start by saying this place has the potential to be a hidden gem, but it doesn't seem to be very well known, at least from the riverside area. I discovered this location through a Reddit recommendation and ended up having a good time. As someone who travels often for work, I try to bring my bow along to find interesting places to shoot. This visit was to my 233rd 3D course or range. While it wasn't the worst experience, there were definitely areas for improvement. Many of the signs for the targets were either on the ground, missing, or mislabeled. Right off the bat, my first target experienced a complete pass-through, which set a concerning tone for the rest of the afternoon. Fortunately, I didn't lose any arrows, but keeping score quickly became impossible due to the unreadable targets. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, but unfortunately, that was not the case with Alex. Her rudeness and unprofessional attitude were shocking, especially for someone who should embody the standards of a pro shop employee and Level 2 instructor. She had an argument with me over the pricing listed on their website, and her arrogance escalated quickly. The tension in the room was palpable, and the other employees appeared flustered but seemingly accustomed to her behavior. Incredibly, she misrepresented the rates, claiming they would be cheaper than the children's price, which was simply incorrect according to their website. When I inquired about the future shots, Tyler, a younger and genuinely nice employee, answered my questions. However, Alex jumped in, listing all the targets in a rather aggressive manner. When I asked how many there were, I received conflicting answers about the number available, which left me feeling frustrated. I was just trying to maintain a cool demeanor and exit her presence as quickly as possible. When I signed out, I noticed the last person to do so had been over two weeks prior, which gave me a sinking feeling about the state of the course. Tyler explained that there was a mandatory $25 archery safety training course I needed to complete to access the range. This included reviewing rules and assessing my shooting skills. While I understand the necessity for policies, I was caught off guard since this wasn't mentioned on their website. After paying almost $40, Tyler walked me through the range rules, but I didn't actually shoot a single arrow--he only walked me up to the start of the 3D course while we chatted about hunting. I could tell he visibly relaxed when we stepped away from Alex's presence. After wrapping up the course, I spoke with Tyler and another employee, who seemed to be the bow tech. I noticed Alex packing up to leave, and she made sure to say goodbye to the other employees while giving me a pointed glare as she exited. (Good riddance!) Without her around, I ended up talking shop with the other guys for nearly an hour. They were genuinely passionate about the sport and seemed like great people! On a positive note, even though I lost an insert on the last target, they kindly hooked me up with a replacement. Overall, while I enjoyed my experience, it was overshadowed by the unprofessional behavior of one staff member. If they can address this issue, they could truly elevate the experience for all their visitors! read more

I remember the first time I was here about eight years ago and shot some machine guns. I'm a lot more tame now so didn't go there. It's a beautiful gun range with a very nice restaurant with excellent chicken tenders. Beautiful views and beautiful stations for your shooting pleasure. She responded promptly and offered me a store credit to account for the sale pricing I had just missed. I appreciated the gesture and her willingness to make things right. My original frustration came from how inflexible the in-store staff was about applying the discount, despite the fact that my DROS hadn't started and I had paid in full just days before the sale. As a longtime member and loyal customer, I expected at least a conversation or some effort to find a middle ground. That didn't happen at the time, which is what led me to post the review. That said, Betsy's follow-up showed a level of care that I wish had been present in the store. Got the opportunity to visit Oak Tree Gun Club last week. I appreciated that unlike Firing Line in Burbank a person can rent a firearm without having a second party with them. The guys at the desk were very knowledgeable and courteous, the range master was excellent offering tips and techniques to practice. Do yourself a favor and skip the overpriced Oak Tree Gun Club with their arrogant employees and bad management and go to A Place to Shoot instead. We took out-of-town friends to shoot pistols and rifles and were incorrectly told by an EMPLOYEE that pistols and rifles had to be shot at separate ranges. This is not true! The guy checking us in could have told us we could shoot both at the same range too. Their confusing signage didn't help much either. Had we been given correct information by the employee at the entrance and at registration, we would have saved time, effort, and money. Instead, we wasted time lugging equipment around to either end of the property and paid nearly $450. (including ammo) at the end of the day. Management apologized for the rudeness and blamed the rain (it wasn't raining) for the miscommunication and offered free passes instead of a refund for the second $25. fees we had to pay. Awesome place. The membership is well worth it in my opinion. They let you bring your own targets and let you rapid fire as long as you show gun control. I like the fact they are about safety first so I feel comfortable and don'thave to worry about someone else breaking the safety rules, I respect that. I come here to learn self defense. The people are nice, helpful. Page is an awesome guy, very outgoing, very helpful and has good training tips for someone whos learning to shoot. Had fun wasting money on bullets, lol. This is a great place to do some target shooting and get acquainted with your gun. They have separate areas depending on what type of piece you're shooting. They also have a huge area specifically for trap&skeet shooting and an area for archery as well. They have rentals too. They sell guns, targets, and ammo as well. I like that they have dedicated staff for each section that watch everyone to make sure that safety precautions are always followed. Fresh air, wildlife, and a friendly group. My daughter and I recently joined and are loving Oak Tree. We were introduced to this range by our instructor, Peggy, from Dual Defense Safety Training. We took the beginning NRA course, then had two sessions becoming familiar with the 9mm. We are looking forward to more days at the range trying the various guns they have for rent so we can decide on a purchase. My husband started coming here last year to start practicing shooting clay. There was a big clay shooting convention of some sort in the Carolinas for business. Apparently it was going to be either golfing or clay shooting and he chose the shooting. I came here with him to see him practice (he's pretty good, I must say). He had mentioned that he likes that they have green clay here. The audio sensors for the clay shooting machine is very sensitive to the point that when he started talking to me the machine shot a few into the air. The staff does warn you about it, and I also recommend just turning off the voice command and using the button to release the clay. Shotguns can be rented. Although he has had some good ones and bad ones here, it's good to have that option until he decides to splurge to purchase his own. There are several ranges to shoot and practice. The rifle canyon is very loud. It's always nice to practice shooting handguns outdoors as well. I've only tried shooting at indoor ranges in the past but I'd like to try it here when I get a chance. read more

Let me be clear, I think that guns should be banned outright in public life. At a controlled gun range with range safety officers and protective measures however, it's an absolute blast. My second time shooting was just as exhilarating as the first. I refined my shot until I was able to hit targets 60 yards away, neat! The feedback on the steel targets is good, I'm not sure why people prefer paper targets over them. Once you've signed the contracts and read through the agreements, you just pick a gun, some ammo, and you're good to go. I recommend magnums with 22 mm bullets to save some money while keeping it fun. The range safety officers were helpful and informative. Don't hesitate to ask them any questions you might have. Even if you abhor guns in public, I truly believe everyone can enjoy shooting in a remote and safe environment. Will be returning in the future! read more

Thursday nights they close at 9pm so I love to shoot at night, but lately ebery time I go its closed off for an event "fun shoot" that isn't on the calendar on the site, or on the site at as of this review. There is no alternative offered you basically have to go to the pistol range and they wont let you shoot a 22 rifle there. So the whole drive is a waste. The range fee used to be for the whole day, now it's charged by the hour and prices have gone up to 25$ This used to be one of my favorite places to shoot, and now it's becoming a source of frustration and no longer my go to.
