I felt like I was cheated of the service fee of $110 at Adams Electronics store in Huntington Beach. On Thursday January 20, 2022, I brought my Brother L5900DW for service because after I had changed the toner the machine kept saying no toner detected. I believe it was because of the toner drive got broken when I tried to replace the toner because I found a broken plastic piece inside the machine when I tried to replace with another genuine toner from Brother. And I did hand the receptionist the plastic piece and told him about the incident. On Tuesday January 25, a technician called and said that it was the defective toner because she used an old toner from another Brother printer and it worked fine, so we just needed to buy another toner. I went to the store an hour later and asked her to show me the machine working with the toner from the other machine because we had tried with two new genuine toners from Brother so it was definitely not the toner. And I reminded her about the broken plastic piece found inside the machine, but she said no such thing was submitted with the machine. I asked her to look more closely at the machine. She looked angry and left me with another receptionist. I told the receptionist I would bring in another brand new toner and replace it in front of them to show them that toner is not the issue. The next day, the technician called me and said that it was not the toner, but it was the board and part and labor would cost $370. And again, refused to look at the toner drive. I took my printer to another Brother authorized repair shop in Santa Ana, and sure enough, it was the toner drive and the labor cost to fix it was $70, and part cost was $18. read more

I had an Onkyo receiver I had purchased in 2008 stop all output through the HDMI ports. I called Onkyo and they directed me to Adam's Electronics as their "Regional Service Center." Adam's was a 2-hour drive from me but I happened to be going their way for another reason and so took the Onkyo by for them to look at. I made it clear to them that I was 2 hours away but would be back again in exactly one week and begged them to try and get it repaired so that I could come by when I was going to be back in their area. They said they would try but no guarantees, especially if they had to order parts ... fair enough. I got a call the next day that they had identified my problem as the main circuit board and needed my approval to order the replacement and make the repair since more money was involved. I gave them the ok to go ahead. The NEXT DAY they had already gotten in the part, installed it, and tested the receiver to now be ok!! This was Wednesday, only two days after I dropped it off!! I was ecstatic! I still wasn't going to be in their area until the following Monday but was tickled that I would be able to pick up the Onkyo at that time. I brought the Onkyo home and everything worked perfectly. Tammi was the technician that took care of my receiver and how can I say anything but that she and Adam's was awesome! Outstanding service and correctly done repairs. When my nearly new Onkyo receiver started failing I was annoyed that Onkyo's warranty required me to either physically take it to one of their service locations or ship it to one at my cost. Nearly $50 to ship to this place that I'd never heard of. Adam's Electronics? It's a modestly sized store with a small-town family-business name so I wasn't entirely confident. But that was the only place in California authorized for Onkyo warranty work so what choice did I have? Fortunately, I was really surprised at how quickly they fixed it and their amazing service. Meghan H. at Adam's was on top of things from the moment my broken receiver arrived. Firstly, I'd failed to include a note saying what the problem was. Realized it after mailing and was meaning to call to let them know but Meghan called me before I could get to it. She also told me that UPS had damaged my receiver in transit, emailed me pictures right away and advised me that it was cosmetic and wouldnt affect the receiver's functions. She got me a quick estimate for the damage and submitted a claim with UPS which was approved within 4 days. I opted to skip the damage repair and pocket the claim since it would have taken extra time to get the parts. I received regular email updates and the work was completed in about a week. It arrived 3 days after the shipping date, wrapped in a UPS-proof box and lots of bubble wrap. Nice to have my receiver working and am really pleased with how well Adam's did things. From what I've read they do warranty repairs for a number of manufacturers, not just Onkyo. So am amazed that they can do that quality of work with such a broad product scope. Nice job Adam. Everything went right for me and the repair of my Denon receiver (warranty). Steve called me when he diagnosed the problem, described the solution, and got it turned around within one day as soon as the part from Denon was in. I would recommend this place. I sent a message asking if a circuit board is repairable and I asked if I can also send a photo. Scott was friendly and took the time to reply and also looked at the photo. Instead of saying come bring it in or start talking about prices, Scott offered his honest opinion in regards of the circuit board being unable to be repaired. Some places would say yes then they'll charge you right away for the hours. You definitely want a place that is transparent with you even them knowing that they won't make money from you. read more

Went to Adam's Electronic to get a micro usb fixed on a expensive piece of gear that broke. They weren't able to fix it but we're super helpful and explained all the reasons why it wasn't worth fixing. Multiple employees at Adam's looked at my unit and gave me reason why it wasn't worth the fix. They gave me recommendations on other ways to make it work along with telling me that my rechargeable battery was starting to go bad. I would definitely go there again! 5 STARS!!! read more

Was referred here by JBL to fix a soundbar, they charge an initial fee just to look at it, whatever but was told on the phone $60 and when I went to the store it turned out to be $80. About 5 days after dropping it off, got a call that it would be $324 to fix. No thanks, will buy a new one. They offerred to 'recycle' it, but choose to go pick it out up so they didnt go and repair and resell it. Out $80, they dont seem terribly helpful here, and based on the prices they had listed for the junk in the store(not all but most of the stuff made in the 90s), not a great sign. Although there surprisingly is not many great repair options in the area for audio gear, save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else or just bite the bullet and buy a replacement. read more

I was given this company by the Panasonic support person. I called once immediately after talking to Panasonic and the person told me that they hadn't received the necessary order number. I called later, and they still insisted that they needed an order number from the company before they could proceed but that it would probably take 24 hours. 24 hours later, my husband called and they still didn't have a number, saying that it would take two days. Finally, the company gave us an appointment for service the following week--8 days away! We resolved ourselves to the fact that these things took time, but I was really annoyed to think I had to wait over a week to even have the TV looked at by a technician! The next day we got a call from another local place that was authorized to do Panasonic repairs, and they were able to come immediately! The service person came out a couple hours after the call. He inspected our TV, called in an order for the part that it needed, and put the cabinet and TV back where it was. He explained that the part would take a few days to arrive, which would still be sooner than our scheduled appointment with this place! If you want to wait for repair, use this place! If not, please find another! There is simply no reason to leave customers hanging when other places are quicker, and more efficient. If a company isn't willing to fill the customers needs, then I don't see any reason to give them business! read more

If I could rate this bait-and-switch place a -5 stars, I absolutely would. Here's what my horrible experience with these crooks was like: My Onkyo receiver ended up burning out after only three years of use. Something burned out that was electrical. Since I was out of my warranty, I called Adams Electronics to determine the maximum amount for costs to repair my broken receiver and spoke with Alexis. She told me that the minimum costs would be $60 and the maximum costs would be $140 for a very high end receiver. My receiver is not the very high end receiver so I was confident that I would pay less than $140. She also told me that the $60 would be nonrefundable and at first, I hesitated, but since she did inform me that the maximum amount it would cost to repair my receiver would be $140, I was fine with having to pay $140, if need be, even though I knew it would be less than $140. I dropped off my receiver to them on March 1, 2014, paid the $60 (nonrefundable) deposit, and they told me that they would call me to let me know when my receiver is ready to pick up. I asked how long it would take to repair my receiver and she told me 2-3 weeks. On March 3, 2014, I received a voice mail message from a technician at Adams Electronics indicating that my repair costs would be $380! I was in no way prepared for that. First, Alexis told me that the maximum amount it would cost to repair my receiver was $140. With that in mind, I had no problem of providing them with my nonrefundable deposit of $60, since I knew it was going to applied towards the cost of repairing my receiver. Had I known it was going to cost more than $140, and especially at the ridiculous amount of $380, I would NOT have done business with Adams Electronics, and essentially pay them $60 for nothing. I would have taken it elsewhere, but since Adams Electronics is an authorized Onkyo service center, I thought I would be treated like a valued customer, which I was definitely not at Adams Electronics. This service center is a shady business that essentially runs a bait-and-switch business. They should not be in business. read more

Another "I can't believe that no one has reviewed this place" Last year I needed to reinstall my Windows OS (Operating System) onto a new hard drive. The young lady who worked there advised me to contact HP direct. Sure enough I purchased a complete version of Windows designed for my model laptop. HP charged me about $16 plus shipping. I returned this year for a battery for my old desktop and again got great service - had the exact battery in stock and it was very inexpensive - about $3. They fix things as well. Like decades ago, when electronics stores were truly electronics stores, except this one is clean, tidy and big. Oh and plenty of parking. read more

Great customer service, extremely hassle free and professional. I live in San Diego and shipped my Denon receiver to Adam's for warranty repair, which was the closest Denon approved warranty repair shop. The technician (Steve) called me the day after it arrived at the shop to get additional details on the problems I was seeing with the unit. He called me back the next day after testing the unit and confirmed that he saw exactly what I was seeing and that he would order the necessary components. He called me back again the next day to confirm the components were on their way and that he should have it fixed by the end of the week. At the end of the week, Steve called again to say the unit has been repaired and will be shipped immediately. I just received the unit via fed-ex. Doesn't get any more hassle free than this! Talk about outdated and expensive! This place reeks with the smell of a 1980's company. Cables, equipments, and other relate electronic needs are marked up to the extreme. I wanted one thing done. I paid 40 dollars just to get my turntable's speed adjusted, nothing else. After FOUR days they call me and I can go pick it up. Long story short, they did not use professional tools to calibrate the turntable so the 33rpm was way too fast and the 45 rpm speed was way too slow. For 40 dollars, I expected precision but all I got when I told them it was off was they made a half-hearted attempt to adjust one of the settings and then showed me where the adjustment screws were. It was time to replace the bulb in my Sony KDS-60A2000, so I purchased a new one and went to replace it, but got the three flashing lights which means that the sensors weren't registering the protecting door as being closed. Well I tried everything, and spent an hour on the phone with Sony support, and no luck. Called Adam's, made appt. They were nice and helpful on the phone. They arrived right on time and even called me 20 minutes before to give me a heads up. The rep was very nice and professional, and even took off his shoes before entering my home. He was done in less than 30 minutes. Total damage was $150, which is a fair price. Kudos to Adam's, but as for Sony, I'm going to consider other brands for my next TV purchase. read more

I will never again take any of my electronics to this place. We not only had terrible service, but after the first time we took our printer in, it came back with more issues and the LCD screen was not working due to damage done by their technician replacing the printer head. And when we got it back with the broken LCD screen, the printer head was still not working and what we were still having the same printing problems that we took it in for. I asked for a new printer head instead of a used one and the person on the phone got snippy with me and told me it was just as good. It should not matter to him what I choose, it is my money and if I want a new part, I should not have to argue with them on the phone to get one. The technician told us that the part was on back order and had to be shipped from Japan. I called Canon and spoke to someone there and was told that getting the LCD screen for my printer should not have been a problem and it could have been ordered elsewhere. I was also told by Canon that they were very sorry for the problems I was having and that they would talk to someone in upper management about this place that they recommended for fixing our printer to begin with. I urge anyone interested in using this place to steer away and find another dealer or take it to another shop that fixes electronics. There customer service is awful and there technicians are rude and argumentative. I didn't even want to give this place a star at all and will remove it if I can. They are worthless and they stink at customer service. I have had better service at McDonald's. read more

I drove 25 miles to get my receiver repaired at Adam's because they are the nearest authorized repair center. I was told by the maker that the repair would be covered for 2 years under warranty. When I got there, they questioned my receipt because it didn't show the model number, then they they said the warranty for remanufactured receivers is only 12 months so it would cost $225.00. I didn't expect Adam's to fix it free if it wasn't covered by warranty, but their attitude was that I was trying to get something for nothing. While I was waiting at the counter, they answered a call from another customer and the lady at the counter yells out, she dropped off her electronics this morning and she already wants to know how much. I had a bad Onkyo receiver and brought it down to Adams that was still under warranty. Building was hard to find as the parking lot was under construction. I walked in the showroom and they seem to have a lot of used electronics and some pretty sweet deals. Everyone seemed very young but extremely enthusiastic to help which made me feel really taken care of. Tommi was my service tech and she was able to identify my problem with ease and was extremely professional in all our interactions. Hi All, This review will be on Alex a wonderful ,trustworthy , older man that did not abuse my situation and fix my issue within less then 10 min of walking in. First my laptop was not recognizing my charger for the past 2 days. I always have it plugged in but for some weird reason it was not reading it...I toke it to best but they gave me an EST of 2-3 weeks return ! I need my laptop to be able to work! So I then decide to take it to a local places.. A co-worker mention Adams Electronic! I walked in the young gentle men in the front was nice but he told me the evaluation cost is 60 but it will be put towards your cost if need. Alex came out and asked me what was wrong I then explain to him my situation and he toke a quick look. He came back out in less then 3 min and said it's charging ! I was in shock because it was not working for me the pass 2 days.. All he did was take out the batter pack and put it back in and done my laptop recognized my charger ! That easy not even the Geek Squad geeks at Best Buy could figure the issue may I say I waited 40 min to get it evaluate at Best Buy on top of that! Alex could have easily lied to me and charged me a 60 evaluation fee plus easily made up a lie but this man was honest and did not take advantage of me and that people you really don't see that any more ! I needed my Denon receiver looked at, brought it in to Adam's. I got called in a few days with a diagnosis from the tech who'd checked it out, decided to have it repaired (was out of warranty). They called me again a little over a week later, unit was ready to go. The company I work for also sends warranty repairs to Adam's, and we have always had good communication with them (something that's sorely lacking at too many other repair centers), and quick turnarounds. Update: I've dealt with several different repair companies in handling our client's devices, and Adam's reigns supreme. I get information, costs, call backs, and best of all quick service. I have a large home theater and have a Denon AVRX6500W high end receiver that I bought 5 years ago. Although it was 5 years old and out of warranty it only got used a couple times a month because it wasn't our main tv/receiver. Went to watch a movie one day and it wouldn't power up. Debated on attempting to get it fixed because I didn't want to pay $100 in shipping and a diagnostic charge only to be told it's unrepairable, or have to wait weeks to get it back. When I first called to ask about my receiver that was under Onkyo warranty I was helped but a young girl named Jenny. She was very sweet and helped me through the procedure of shipping in my receiver for repair. I'm not very good at using computers so I appreciated how patient and helpful she was. She also was the one shipping back my receiver once it was repaired. She called to confirm my address as well as answered all my questions i had about what was done to my unit. When I receive the unit back, it was surprisingly packaged better than how I originally packaged it! I can tell that she was careful and made sure my receiver would arrive with no marks or dents! I brought in 3 stereo components that close to 40 yrs old, but of sentimental value to me. They replaced the needle/stylus for the technics turntable. The fixed the onkyo dual cassette motor and cleaned heads, etc. But to my disappointment, they could not find the laser reader for my 6 cd onkyo player. However, the sales guy reminded me that i could use my blue ray cd/dvd player to play my cds. I had forgotten that, since I've not used the device in ages due to streaming movies!
