    Overpriced receipt

Way way way way overpriced. Takes full advantage of customers. The total parts price was $58 but labor cost $600!? Even if they're charging $100/hr there is no way it took 6hrs to put 2 new wires in. This place is a scam!!!

This was my 2nd visit to Adam's Electronics. The first time was for a printer and this time was for a camera. I was a bit skeptical bringing my camera in. I needed a memory card door replaced, which needed some electrical wires to be removed in the process. It is an expensive Sony camera so my concern was valid. They replaced the camera part and the camera is working. Their knowledge working on electronics is vast and their work is precise. The repair was done quickly, faster than they said it would be. the customer service there is also great. Everyone is nice and accommodating. Thank you!

    The sub in question.
    Geoff G.

I have an HK Elements E110AS subwoofer that had low volume on both the sub and the line array column (when attached), and HK America recommended a list of local shops, the closest of which was Adam's Electronics in Huntington Beach. I brought in the sub, and described the problem to them: ie, it worked, but the volume was low compared to a properly functioning E100AS sub. I offered to leave behind a line array column and/or my other, properly functioning, E110AS, so they could compare it to a working system, verify the problem, and the fix. They declined this offer, saying their technicians would be able to handle it, and they didn't need the additional equipment to verify the problem. I foolishly believed them, and plopped down my $190 repair fee, with authorization to spend up to $300-something if they needed more time/parts. I waited about two weeks for a call, and then the blessed day arrived: they told me my sub was ready, and I could come pick it up! Lo and behold, when I arrived, I discovered that they had not been able to duplicate the problem, nor had they attempted any repairs. They apparently did inspect the various amplifier PCBs, and, I assume, at least disassembled and reassembled them. They indicated that the sub was functioning normally and never had a problem. I was skeptical, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt, and was hopeful that, perhaps, there was a loose connector or some other component that had wiggled itself back into place, and I now had a properly functioning E110AS. Unfortunately, that hope was ill-founded. The sub, as of this writing, the day I retrieved it from the shop, still has the low-volume issue. They did not fix it, and I believe they did not even understand that they were hearing a malfunctioning sub. If they'd listened to me in the beginning, and bothered to compare to the unit I offered to leave behind with them, the malfunction would have been obvious. They could easily have compared it to its mate, and heard how different the volume was. The fact that they still had the gall to keep my $190 payment after not following my advice, and making me wait two weeks only to find out they had not fixed my sub, nor even demonstrated the problem, as they said they could, is the icing on the cake. What a waste of my time and money. Zero stars, if that were an option. How this place became an authorized repair shop for HK audio (a high-quality pro audio speaker manufacturer) is beyond me. Adam's is not a pro audio repair shop. They might do ok with consumer electronics, but I'm extremely disappointed in both their lack of expertise in relation to HK Audio products, as well as their overplaced pride in their own troubleshooting ability. It's a fair point that HK Audio is not a common manufacturer, but if they are an authorized repair shop, you'd expect that they have the requisite knowledge about HK the products they are authorized to repair. Or if not, at least the humility to admit that the customer might actually know something about what's wrong with their own gear.

The first message i get is how i can pay him with pay pal don't use this guy.

Terrible customer service, poor communication, and a complete waste of my time…read more I dropped off my Lenovo laptop on August 19, 2026 to have the hinge repaired. My receipt says "Tomorrow" for pickup, meaning I was told it would be ready on August 20. I couldn't make it on the 20th, so I came on August 21, giving him an extra day. When I handed Nick my receipt, he started scrambling around looking for my laptop and then asked me to give him another 10-15 minutes to fix it. Clearly, the laptop was not ready as promised. He also could not find my charging cord at first and had to look around multiple times before locating it. When he put the laptop back together, it was poorly assembled with visible gaps and open spaces. Nick told me it still needed to be glued and asked me to come back AGAIN later that day. I told him I live far away and could not keep making trips back and forth. Nick then gave me another option: he said he would finish the laptop and personally leave it with the tailor lady in the store so I could pick it up from her. He was very specific about this arrangement and even clearly told me that the tailor lady only accepts cash or Zelle and does not accept cards. Based on how detailed his instructions were, I had every reason to believe my laptop would actually be left with her as promised. I came back on August 22 specifically to pick up my laptop from the tailor lady. She told me Nick never gave her my laptop. So now I have made multiple unnecessary trips, spent time and gas driving back and forth, followed Nick's exact pickup instructions, and I STILL do not have my laptop. I was told I now have to come back AGAIN on Monday when Nick returns. This entire experience has been extremely frustrating and unprofessional. Nick has repeatedly told me something would be done and then failed to follow through. What should have been a simple hinge repair has turned into a poorly assembled laptop, a temporarily misplaced charging cord, multiple wasted trips, and repeated promises that were not kept. I will update this review after Monday to document whether my laptop is finally repaired properly and returned to me. Update 8/25/26: I was finally able to pick up my laptop today. Nick called me Monday to let me know it was ready and apologized for everything that happened. When I picked it up, Nick also acknowledged that a piece near the hinge had been lost during the repair, so unfortunately my laptop was returned with that piece missing. He gave me a discount because of the missing piece and all of the miscommunication. I do appreciate that Nick took responsibility, apologized, and adjusted the price. However, I'm still disappointed that after everything I went through to get the hinge repaired, I received my laptop back with one of its original pieces missing. The discount was appreciated, but I would have preferred to have my laptop returned complete and not have gone through so many unnecessary trips and delays in the first place.

When it broke down, we hesitated over whether to buy a new one or have it repaired. After a quick search on Yelp, we found Mr. Gao's information. He replied immediately after we messaged him and came to our house the very same day to inspect it.His initial diagnosis was a faulty mainboard. To be completely sure, he took both the mainboard and the power board back with him for a more detailed diagnosis. To make a long story short, two weeks later, he returned with a newly purchased replacement board, installed it back into my TV, and successfully fixed it! Since the boards for the 850F model are discontinued and no longer available on the market, he had to buy an 850G board as a substitute and modify it slightly to make it compatible with my TV. I am not professional enough to understand the exact technical details, but I am certain it took considerable time and specialized knowledge to pull off! I found the repair cost to be very fair--around 40% of what I originally paid for the TV. Some people might not find it worth it, but I am so glad I can keep using this TV instead of scrapping a perfectly working LED screen and creating a massive piece of electronic waste.

You see the light streaks in the holiday lights. Then when recording video, as you zoom in, the picture goes totally out of focus in the mid distance then back into focus as you zoom in. Close-up macro photos are not crisp. The man wasn't the most friendly person but with the reviews here I thought that wasn't important and he'd get the job done well. He was on the phone when I walked in and after some back & forth he agreed to lower the price for a computer battery down to $240 but was not willing to negotiate at all with me for the camera lens. I relented since he had great reviews. He gave me a whole $5 discount on $80 if I paid in cash. Then tried to upsell me on screen protectors for front screen & cameras. Photos & video speaks for itself. I won't be back. I'm out $75 (plus whatever it will cost to get a decent lens in my phone. I have a long time left on my contract so no upgrades for me) and the quality of my photos is garbage. Take what you will from this review. I hope your experience is better.
