The first time finally was showing signs of calcium and the return line cracked during an earthquake requiring the drains and return line to be replaced. I did have some challenges with Adams, but they responded following owner, Tony Adams, policy, to make sure that the customer is satisfied and happy with the work. We used Adams a number of years ago for a pool remodel and were very happy, so we contacted them, to add a water feature and for system automation. Chris came out promptly seven weeks ago and said he'd get back to us shortly. Since then, nothing. We contacted the store twice and they said we would here from him the next day. Nothing. I had honestly thought it was deleted as the company reached out and let me know they would install and cover the price of the pump they had never mentioned at proposal and contract signing. Doesn't appear I can delete so have to update. They did come out and install but u have yet to clean the lumuneers and test them since adding the filter and will consider upgrading review to 4 star upon seeing they work properly. What a waste of time. I contacted Adams/Royal Pools for a new pool build and they quickly scheduled time for one of their sales reps to come out and give us a quote and look at the project. Their rep came out at 7am in the morning as that was the only time he had and spend an hour telling me about all of the projects he has built and that he is the owners best sales person. He said he would put together a 3D rendering of our pool and call me the following week to go over everything. Never heard back from him. I texted him and never got a reply. What a waste of time. Project took almost 6 months to complete when we were told it would take 2. COVID is responsible for approx. 1 month of that. Think twice before committing to use this company! read more

We are in the process of getting a new constructed pool. Most of the fun in the beginning will be picking the look of your pool. It's the most important part as well. We used Adam's to resurface our pool with pebble tech, new tile and new coping. All pool companies have been slammed over the past two years and we had heard horror stories about the entire process from neighbors, so we were nervous about all of it. Adam's exceeded our expectations - the finished work looks and works great, the customer service was phenomenal. They did a great job of keeping us notified of stages of work and when they would begin. The best part was our amazing project manager, Arturo. With over 100 pools he manages, he always picked up his phone, made site visits, and was 10/10 on friendliness and professionalism. We would highly recommend Adam's. Adams remodeled our pool about 3 years ago. The service was very professional, and the initial results were excellent. However, after a few years we noticed a subtle graying of our pool surface in certain parts of the pool. We called in Adams to get their opinion. Adams told us that the issue stemmed from a problem with the gunite layer below the Pebble Tec surface. Without hesitation they resurfaced our pool and gave us a new warranty at no charge! We know nothing about pool surfaces. Adams could have easily dodged this issue by telling us the discoloration was normal, it would improve as time passed, there was nothing they could do, etc. Instead they told us they stand behind their work and would make it right. You can be very secure in knowing that Adams will do a great job and ensure that you are a satisfied customer. read more

Pretty poor planning and customer service. Got called in the evening and was told, not asked, that work will be starting the next morning and that they needed payment. I got a bit heated, due to the short notice and I cant just take off work at the drop of a hat. They hung up on me! The actual workers are awesome. No mess. Careful. I have so far paid over 1/2 and pool is still concrete. Waiting for someone to return my call to schedule inspection and finishing work. They need to do better. If they cant handle the volume then maybe don't bite more than you can chew? read more

We are 3/4 of the way through a pool build with Adams Pools. We chose them out of five other companies because they were extremely professional and timely with their bids and presentation. John Rafalski is our sales rep and has held our hand through the entire process. Even answering our call when he was on vacation! We had Adams pool redo our small pool and hot tub about four years ago. The also put a travertine tile around the pool with a total cost of approximately 60K. The did a pretty good Job as long as they were getting paid but now that we need some help fixing a couple items they are less than useless. First they won't return your call, when I finally did reach someone his only response was, we don't do that type of work anymore. When I asked to speak to the manager or owner I was told that they won't give out those numbers. I'm sorry but that is absolutely horrible customer service. Had I known that they wouldn't help after the project was completed I never would have used them. I caution anyone who is looking to have pool work done not to use this company. I wasn't asking them to fix anything for free, I would have gladly paid them for their help but they refuse to do anything. Good luck running a company like that! We live in Novato and Adams Pool Solutions was recommended by a friend who used them a few years ago. We were impressed with their salesperson and what he said they could do for our pool and spa resurfacing. This was in October (months into COVID times). We signed a contract for their services and were told that they they could likely start in mid-December. By the time we got to December, we were told they could start the work by mid February. As mid February approached, we contacted them to ensure they were starting as planned. We were told that there was an issue with the permit being lost by the County of Marin - they said they submitted November 17 and we were told by the county they received a permit request on February 11 (3 days before they were supposed to start). They then told us because of the permit, they couldn't start as planned and they would start in a few weeks. As mid-March arrived, they came and drained our pool, completely blasted all of the plaster and cane that same week to connect two lights with wires but the lights are still in boxes covered with plastic. That was the last we saw of them until today, April 19. When they didn't show up as planned the week after demolition in March, we contacted them repeatedly and we were told that the reason for the delay was the tile we selected (that when we selected we were told it was a good tile that was pretty popular). One would think if there was a backorder delay they would initiate contacting us to let us know and to suggest alternatives they also threw in that the coping was also delayed. We demanded a timeline that they provided. They were supposed to return to work on the resurfacing of the pool starting 4/14 with and end date of 4/27. That was last week. When they were contacted on Tuesday before they were supposed to return to complete the job on Wednesday, we were told the tile was still delayed so they would begin on Monday, April 19 and would complete the job this week. Today,, when the crew showed up, we got a call saying that the tiles were still on backorder (they did not mention that last week) and that now the rest of the job would need to wait until next week - the week of April 26 and completing it "soon" after that. We have owned multiple homes and have worked with multiple contractors and NONE have been either as incompetent or dishonest as Adams Pool Solutions and their crew from top to bottom. The lack of communication unless we contacted them has been incredibly unprofessional. We will NEVER EVER recommend this company for any reason. They have not been honest, they have not followed their promise that when the work began it would be completed in three weeks. Of course they never mentioned that they would not begin the project for about 5 months or we would never have signed on with them in the first place. We are now talking to an attorney to help us bring this disaster to an end. read more

After emailing for an appointment for a quote in March and calling I was able to get a quote in April. I was told that day only new construction was being scheduled. Remodels would be scheduled in late September and October. I was given a proposal and told to expect a call in September to schedule. I received no call and made several attempts to contact someone. Finally, Kim, who handles the tile, plaster, pebbles selections returned my call. I asked for a specific pebble product. The proposal had a pebble chosen by their estimator. I was told I could change it at anytime before they start, as I hadn't visited their design center to choose. She said the guy who gave me the proposal retired and they had no copy. I sent my proposal and was told Kris, manager would contact me. A week past and I contacted Kim again, she said her manager was on vacation for a week and she didn't know. Kris, the manager finally contacted me via email 2 weeks later, after I contacted Kim again to notify her I hadn't heard from her manager. The response from Kris was as follows; We will honor the proposal Schedule for May When I asked for the specific pebble my quote went from $15,914.80 to...$19,176.40. I asked Kris if the pebble in the original quote was backed out and I was told " yes". It appears, their luminosity pebble must have real gold speckles in it if it increased over $8,000.00. Mind you, I got a much less quote for Jewelscape pebble, top pebble manufacturer than Adams Pools brand of luminosity pebble. RIDICULOUS! Horrible customer service. I cannot imagine the run around I'd have trying to address any issues that might arise. read more

Well, Adam's pulled through in the niche of time. They stayed tight on our job through the final phases, working well with the Concrete outfit (100% Concrete, who was excellent), to get it done JUST in time for my drop-dead date for my twin girl's birthday party. The problem really seems to have been scheduling.. and we did call and talk to management-- the 'long pole' item was a delay from the coping manufacturer that really lost us FOUR WEEKS. I think we were lucky we were local to the Pleasanton office or we would have blown away our dates. Due to this not going as smooth as I'd have liked -- I considered 3 stars.. but the quality of the work is excellent. The pool looks fantastic, the equipment and plumbing seems top-notch, and the craftsmanship of the work crews seemed excellent as well. I'd been looking all over for someone to purchase and install pool railings. We're in our 79s and it difficult for us to get in and out of our pool and spa. After calling many places I found Adams Pool Solutions and spoke with Neomi and she was wonderful. I had already found the railings we wanted and I sent her the photos. Neomi ordered them, sent out two people to give us a quote, and set up an installation date. The railings came yesterday and they look great. I would do business with them again for my pool needs. Absolutely horrible experience. We signed our contract early last year with an estimated start date of July 2020. Here it is March 2021 and still no pool. Communication has been non-existent and the excuse we were given is that the company is overwhelmed with the amount of projects they've taken on. When we escalated our complaint to the manager and let them know we had no trust to move forward, his response was he was that is was sad we were canceling. No apology, no explanation, no attempt to make it right, nothing. I don't know how a business like this continues to operate. read more

Several years ago we moved into a home located on the side of a hill which unfortunately did not have a pre-existing pool. We met with several pool contractors and decided to go with Royal Pools (aka Adams Pool Solutions) despite the fact they were more expensive. We selected Royal Pools because of their experience building many pools including in more challenging locations including hillsides. Also based on what we had heard from others we felt if there ever was a problem, they would stand behind their product. The other very appealing aspect of working with Royal Pools was that their sales/design person (Mike Blackburn) came up with a beautiful design that really fits well into our landscaping. Fast forward to now, we had an issue with the pool tile. Royal Pools Warranty Dept came out, approved and just completed replacing the tile. read more

We are a large apartment complex in Petaluma and hired Adams Pool Solutions to resurface our small pool. The job started in January and was not finished until July (they knew our tenants would expect it to be done in May which is when both our pools open each year!). The whole process was like pulling teeth; it was hard to get someone to return phone calls and when I did talk to someone, they weren't very professional and always wanted another payment! The person I talked with at their office always had to be reminded of what I had previously called her about, obviously she never took notes or followed up. The really sad part of the process was when Adams Pool Solutions was responsible for cutting into a pipe causing a skimmer to leak and then trying to charge us for the repair job! Needless to say, when we have work done on our large pool, we will not be using Adams Pool Solutions, they were not pleasant to deal with. read more

When my wife and I finally decided to have a in ground swimming pool installed I went to work! I'm the kind of person that over researches projects at my home, especially BIG ones like a Swimming Pool! I met with 7 yes! SEVEN pool contractors (6 too many) 99% of these so called pool builders are nothing more than "front men" with NO employees, NO equipment, all they are someone trying to make 20% more than you need to spend! They Sub Contract out EVERY PHASE OF THE JOB! And 99% of their licenses had issues when I checked "on line" with the California State contractors license board, no insurance, violations etc.. Adams on the other hand was/is squeaky clean and they hold many licenses, not just the pool contractors license! I had previously known that Adams Pool Solutions did pool resurfacing and I decided to call them and ask for a recommendation for a pool contractor! To my surprise they told me they are now and have been for many years building NEW pools...TG I made that phone call. I first met with their lead sales person Mike Hopkins and he's a true professional, NO BS! and we immediately became friends and more importantly my wife and I decided to go with Adams Pool Solutions. Mike did many "3-D" renderings of my yard and we could visually see what the pool would look like...Wow this was really cool as we made changes to the design even before the 1st shovel full of dirt was removed. REALLY HELPFUL!! Adams on the other hand employees nearly 90% of the entire job. They have all their OWN equipment and licensed employees. TRUST ME THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT ! Adams did everything except the finish deck material around the pool and the excavation. Even though they Sub this work out you would think IT'S "their guys" as Mike is "on them" the entire way! Like every Big project there are always hiccups along the way....Mike was always there to hand me a glass of water :-) Now a little INFO regarding their company. Any schedule issues were handled by their office manager Rosi who took care of everything Fast and Professionally. If I ever had an issue with something I called Tony Adams directly on his cell phone, this is truly refreshing that an owner of a big company is available on his private cell phone and actually answers his own calls and handles issues himself! THIS BLEW ME AWAY....TONY IS AWESOME! I truly didn't know how much work was involved installing a new pool...WOW...A LOT! After the DIG....I looked at my back and side yard which by the way....get ready...it's a war zone! When I asked Mike....how much longer will this take? He looked at me and said..."we are really good at making a mess and even better at putting it back together....WOW was he RIGHT ABOUT THIS! When they started the job Mike gave me a completion date and they came in a WEEK EARLY! By this review you might think I work for Adams but I Don't !! If your thinking about a New Pool I would recommend you call Adams and have them put you in contact with Carl in Novato Ca. Pool completed the very end of 2012 and they will give you my telephone number and your invited to come see our New Oasis. In closing its very important to me that when I had questions/problems....which trust me you will no matter who you decide to have build your Pool....Adams answered ALL my questions and ALL issues were resolved/fixed within 1-2 days...YES....1 or 2 Days Max! Their "in the field" person assigned to my job after completion was/is Mark M. and he's GREAT! Mark explained to me how the equipment works, how to adjust the equipment if necessary (which everything works perfectly) and is always available for questions or concerns. We recently had our pool resurfaced by Adams pool. Jose was our main contact. He did a great job keeping us in the loop. He answered the phone nearly every time we called him or he got back to us right away. They did an excellent job! They were quick, careful, knowledgeable, and did a terrific job cleaning up. They used a hydro blasting technique to remove our old plaster. When they reapplied the plaster, we asked them for a dark plaster that creates a "Tahoe Blue" color effect. We signed our contract for a new pool right before covid hit and businesses had to close. Our designer/salesperson kept in touch with us the best he could even though we knew there were delays happening. Once construction reopened, they were very quick to get things going and to catch up since our project was already behind. The project ended close to the estimated time of pre-covid so we're were happy to be enjoying our new pool for a portion of the summer. The work was excellent, the communication was good, could have been better at times, but the scheduling always tended to work in our favor. It is construction so we understand delays, permits, inspections,etc. If we ever had to put in a new pool, I would recommend Adams, they came right out of the closure and gave us a great pool in a very reasonable amount of time. read more

Adams Pool just completed the remodeling of my pool, it made our dream come true! Our pool was at least 30 years old, it had lots of problems. Finally we decided to remodel it. I contacted Todd, the sales manager of Adams Pool. He was very nice and provided us several solutions and explained us the details. We met many times, in his office and my house. The price was very reasonable compared to quotes from other company. The project started in late may, I worked with Chris, the superintendent of the project and his crews closely. Chris is a real professional, very knowledgeable, and very easy to work with. He is creative, and gave us a lot of good ideas and suggestion to make the pool looks better. He spent times to check the details, and tried to find any potential issues and fix them. He mentioned to me, "this is not only your pool, it is mine, too". His crew shares the same attitude, they were well orgnized, talented, hardworking and never cut the corner! It was fun to watch them working, believe me, likes a magic! It was joyful working with Chris and his crew, I have learned a lot from him. I am more than happy for the job Adams Pool completed, my pool looks like charm now! POOR customer service model! Adam's resurfaced our pool in March of 2019 and inadvertently threw out our pool light, which we wanted to reuse. They gave us an "old" one they had in their warehouse, which was fine with us. When the job was done, we noticed that the light kept flipping the breaker. It was difficult to get someone to come out an look at the issue, it took a couple of months. When someone did finally come out they said that it was a warranty issue and Naomi would follow up with us...no one ever called. I have since followed up a crazy amount of times, and been bounced between Nancy, Martha, and Kim. I have to explain the situation all over again to everyone I talk to. They are all very nice on the phone and seem empathetic, but there is ZERO follow-up. Here we are more than a year later and there has been no resolution. I guess since they have all of our money, they feel very little responsibility for ensuring that we are satisfied customers. read more

Adams did a quality job on the pool hardscape remodel. They were at times a bit disorganized/out of synch between their different contact points, but did an overall quality core job. However, they apparently made a mistake quoting the related electrical work. Instead of resolving they did a very subpar job on the electrical work and tried to sweep it under the rug. They did not stand behind their quote or make sure the problem was resolved. I will hire someone else to complete the work. Very unprofessional and disappointing for what could have been a 4-5 star experience. read more

These guys came highly recommended from a friend who had used them on his pool, but I wasn't impressed. They were great in the quotation process and gave off a very professional air, but once I signed on the dotted line, their backlog of work suddenly multiplied so that it took months to even get the work started. They weren't clear about what needed to be done before accepting the proposal (I could have gotten in the queue for work before selecting tile and coping), and it was just headache after headache. Then, the work teams do not have their shit together. It took almost a month for a two week job and they wouldn't always let you know if they weren't going to show up (or if they were). I came back home the night they finished and if I hadn't heard the water running out back, I never would have known they started filling the pool. What a nightmare! I would definitely consider going with another company, especially if you are in a time crunch. read more

It's a shame that what I am about to write has already been written by so many others. It's almost shocking that so many people have had the same experience in the last 4 months. I wish all those reviews had been up when I signed my quote in the spring. Adams has failed me at almost every level and in almost every phase of this job. Their quote timing was 100% wrong. They put the wrong stone in place on my retaining walls. They tried to bill me before phases were even started. They left the safety fencing around the pool/yard down when the left for the night. Their job site (my yard) was left looking like a trash heap for 1.5 months. And almost worst of all, their communication about what was being done and when it was being done was horrible. When I first planned on writing this review I was going to give them 2 stars because after all the hassle of the last three months, the pool and retaining wall look good, but then I found that part of the plumbing was done wrong and was leaking under my new concrete into a flower bed. So, down to one. On top of that, now that I have actually gotten in the pool, the new surface is not plum (uniform and smooth/level). Instead of it undulates on the walls and floor. I have written their GM and he seems to be looking into the issue which I appreciate. read more

We are very happy with Adams Pool. Their beautiful showroom in Pleasanton gave us ideas for what our finished pool would look like. Their sales rep Michael was great. He didn't try to over sell anything we didn't need. Very knowledgeable about pool remodeling and always answers his phone even while on vacation. We updated our pool to Pebble Plus and added new tile and accent pieces to our steps and jacuzzi. Sergio was excellent on adding a new stone spillway from jacuzzi to the pool. He was an artist in matching the color to our existing stone. Jeromy, who was the field supervisor, always kept me informed of day to day scheduling and returned my calls ASAP. The demo crew was great an never left a mess. Adams was also done ahead of schedule. My wife an I couldn't be happier. read more

The first time, Kim answered the phone, was very hospitable, and told me a salesperson would call me back. I have not heard from them since. I just looked at this company's Yelp reviews. This is an excellent company. Adams resurfaced my pool when I chose the cheaper surface. This surface failed, as I learned was not unusal. This was on edge of the warranty, so I was concerned. They resurfaced my pool & this time put in the pebble tech for a small increase. This is warranted for 10 years. read more

Adams is a total service pool contractor. In 2012 they did a complete remake of my existing pool. The areas that they excelled were: 1) Pool deck travertine work 2) Demo of existing pool deck 3) Basic plumbing (everything existing was removed Not so good: 1) Installation of ozone device (did not follow installation instructions to install 2 feet above plumbing to prevent water backing into device.) Installed level with plumbing which finally caused me to have the device removed and a re-plumb was needed (all at my cost). 2) Electrical: Took several weeks weeks to figure out why the GFI switch kept turning the pool motor off. They finally had to move the GFI switch to the panel box. They would not explain this to me. 3) We had plumbing put in for pool fountains and they did not cover-up the PVC openings for the fountain plumbing, so it took several weeks to flush out cement and demo debris from the pipes. CAVEAT & Lesson Learned Whatever you want they will do. I had both UV and ozone devices installed. This was my lack of understanding that they did the same thing. No real advice 'from the experts' to inform me this was not necessary. Also, I do not speak fluent Spanish. If I did communication would have been much, much better. This is not a complaint, we live in a multi-cultural society. It is just what it is. read more
