Oscar came out with the rest of the team and brought them up to speed with what needed to be done and Jonathan the foreman took over after that. As they had to come in and out of my house several times to access the roof they were always very courteous. And they invited me up on to the roof a couple of times during their work to make sure that I understood exactly what was happening and encouraged me to ask questions so that I could feel comfortable that everything was being done to my satisfaction. Additionally the owner Arturo came by and also made sure that everything was going well. What great care and service. From our initial meeting, to obtaining the permit, delivery of supplies and replacing the roof itself, absolutely everything went smoothly. The entire job was masterly facilitated by Larry Russell, an experienced roofer who is now the project manager. The roofing team consisted of 6 to 7 experienced roofers who have developed a steady rhythm after working together for years. Amazingly, the work was done on our large roof, back porch and the garage over a three day period! This included removal of the old shingles, installation of 6 feet of ice and water shield on the roof edges and valleys and installation of the new shingles. Working more neatly than any other roofing company I have seen, the roofers bag the old shingles on the roof, then carry the bags to their truck, hauling away the garbage at the end of the day. Workers regularly walked around the house to pick up loose roofing materials. At the end of the workday, a large magnet was used to scan for and remove errant nails. They kept a regular schedule, arriving and leaving at prearranged times. Everyone was polite and respectful. I called up Andy's, who did our last cleaning and put gutters on our garage, but they never got back to me after a call, email, and website submission. I got a few quotes, none of them from Turro, when a co-worker randomly mentioned a recent gutter cleaning done by Turro. I will never grow accustomed to the awkwardness that ensues when trying to schedule home repairs. It seems the rule, not the exception, that you're the one pushing for updates and begging for info. But I digress. After a few texts, I got my quote and was told they could come out the next day. The only real upside of a pandemic is that we're always home, so scheduling is easy. My only frustration was that we needed to run an errand and I couldn't pin down a window of time when they'd be out. I started to assume they weren't coming when it was almost 4 on a Friday, but they assured me they would be there and they were. Hot damn our gutters were filthy! Seeing all of the water run out when they unclogged them was pleasing. The also fixed one spot on our gutter where the downspout had been attached shoddily too. They did try and upsell us on gutter covers, which we opted not to do until we've had a chance to do a little research. On the one hand, I didn't love that most of the gunk from the gutters ended up in our grass, but on the other hand, it was evident that they did a thorough job. Overall, we'd hire them again. They beat all of the other quotes we got, were friendly,quick, and we didn't have to wait weeks for an appointment.

We started…read moregetting leaks in the ceiling in two places in our kitchen, and called about a half a dozen places in and around the city to come out and assess. The proposals were all over the place. Some companies said it couldn't be done without ripping off the rooftop deck and repairing everything. Some companies said it wasn't the roof at all, it was condensation inside the house? Jeff at Rollin Contracting was way more honest and practical in his assessment. He pointed out where he suspected the two leaks were coming from, but said that you never really know until you rip up the roof and move the air conditioner and take a look. He told us that roof repair was tricky, that the guys who said we might have to replace the whole roof could be right. But he wouldn't start with that, he would start with the less expensive approach. Granted, there was the risk that if it didn't work, we would have wasted that money when they re-did the whole roof, but we decided to gamble on a $2000 repair rather than jump into the $12,000 repair of the whole roof. Rollin Contracting was the only one who was honest and open and gave us options. He was also the one who was most confident in where he thought the leaks were coming from. It has now been one month since they repaired both potential sources of the leak, and neither of the leaks have come back. And in case you haven't been paying attention, we've gotten absolutely drenched this May. Meaning there is no doubt in my mind that they successfully fixed the leaks. The contractors that came to do the work were great, they didn't even enter the house. I offered to let them come inside to get to the rooftop, and they said they preferred to just go up and over to keep our house clean. While taking up the wooden boards on the rooftop deck to do the roof repair, they accidentally broke one of the boards. They went to Home Depot and replaced the board that day. Not a big deal, and super quick to fix it. Also, at the last minute (after we had signed the contract), I realized that I had forgotten to ask them about the fireplace, which also occasionally drips water during bad storms. I asked Jeff if he would have his guys look at the chimney to see if they could identify the source of the potential leak and to let me know what his recommendations were to have that fixed as well. He went ahead and had his guys caulk it while they were up there without even charging us. I know that's probably not a huge expense, but it was still a nice gesture to just throw that in. So across the board it was a great experience. Would definitely work with these guys again and recommend them with confidence.

Please think twice before hiring this contractor - it will not be worth it if there are any uncertainties re: your project and they will say anything to get your job. We hired Jeff to perform some deck work for our three flat. Jeff quoted us $6K to replace certain posts and railings. One year later, additional work was clearly required because railings were loose and Jeff performed an additional $3K worth of work. At no time to Jeff represent himself as anything other than qualified to perform the work. Turns out he never even got a permit for the work. We were cited by the city for non-compliance shortly after his second round of work. He complied with fixing some of the issues identified. When he met with the inspector to review the work and confirm compliance, he essentially yelled, screamed, stormed off and refused to fix any of the additional work. We are now left with a deck that still needs work, $12K later. Jeff continues not to respond to emails/requests for him to finish his work. Jeff misrepresented his ability to do deck work according to city law and code. His unprofessionalism in resolving the issue that he created (he should have just said his people didnt do deck work maybe instead of doing a poor job and then getting upset when someone challenged him to do the work properly) was so disappointing. Do not work with this contractor.
