We originally enjoyed working with Marcin and gave him a high rating. He refreshed and repaired our cement stairs for one of my 3-flat buildings, and said the work should last for 3-5 years; however, after one season much of the cement peeled off. He came back gratis to repair the work, but then after another season it again began cracking and peeling. When he came a third time, the job was rushed and unsatisfactory: he didn't tell anyone he had come, didn't put up signage or a barrier, and we had tenants walking on wet steps. When we told him, he refused to come back to correct the work and made threats if we posted a negative review on yelp. Now we have to pay someone else to come and fix his oversight. He was previously a great pleasure to work with, very conscientious and accommodating, but something is going wrong with his work, and his ultimate response is unprofessional. read more

AB Masonry has helped us with several projects over the last year or so since we moved into our new home. Marcin's team has worked for us on a tuckpointing/sealing job, re-roofing our garage and rebuilding the deck, putting up an absolutely fantastic roofed pergola, replacing some glass block window vents, and (in a few months) putting much larger windows into a brick wall. The quotes consistently came in on the lower side, and the work has all been solid. They handle all the materials of course, though they've been very accommodating in working with materials that we provided on occasion. They can handle most types of work, and they've done both small and large jobs for us. We can only vouch for their work on exteriors, but they do interior work as well. One of the reasons we initially chose to work with them is that Marcin is really responsive if you contact him, which has been a huge problem for us in the past when dealing with repairs or renovation. A lot of companies, including some of the ones with 5 stars, either never responded to our initial requests or took ages to respond to our follow-up request. The crews have also been very polite and clean up after themselves. My wife is often the one who meets up with the workers when they arrive, and they've always been friendly and appropriate with her. The overall quality of the work has been excellent, and we've had very little to complain about. But even more importantly, the very few times we've noticed issues, they fixed them without any fuss or extra charge. Knowing that the job will get done right without having to fight over it has been one of the best things about working with them. He told me a time and day that he could come by, but asked me to text him that appointment time along with my address (I think because he was driving). I did that immediately.
