Bread! There are TWO Addeo bakeries near each other. One does the primary baking and both sell the product. When walking down the street a few doors down saw a bigger brightly lit bakery with pale bread. Couldn't gel the image with the belief super Italian bread was near on this street. Then I saw Addeo's window. Farrrrr fewer yelp reviews. But one look and I knew Addeo was the place for bread. Large dark and seedy please. Three!! They wrapped them in white paper with string. One for my best friend in the car. One for my mother. Alas one for me. On a quiet day like this it almost feels like I should be driving there for bread. But it would be a long drive. Bookmark this place !! and get a few large seeded regular Italian to go.

Addeo's feels like you just stepped in a Lower East Side Bread Bakery circa 1946. We know of one other Bakery (I'm sure there are others), but when we come to Little Italy, Addeo's has always been it. Forget about their style- because there's really nothing fancy about it. But what speaks volumes- are their Breads. You got like the Rustic (Sourdough) type Breads and a whole bunch of Loaves, plus little Crostini types (think they're sold by the pound- ask anyway). Picked out 3 Italian Loaves- and one of those, with Sesame Seeds. Other things to remember: CA$H accepted only. Also important to note- Addeo's has a menu rundown of those Breads made with lard ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and if you're still dazed and confused- but also alert like I always am...ask which ones. We had a hoot though with one of the adorable ladies who helped us on a super early Saturday morning with reasonably priced, non-lard Italian loaves in hand.

As old school as you can get! This is one of those bakeries that do it right. They don't have much other than freshly baked bread and that is all they need. The bread with seeds on them is my favorite. They also have little loaves of olive bread which is a popular choice. This place looks like it has been there forever and I understand why. The bread is spot on and the smell coming out of this place is to die for. Buying bread from a chain supermarket is overrated... get it from here!!

The best italian bread soft and tasty and not too much seeds, perfect!. 3 or 4 times a month I drive out to little Italy just to get fresh bread at addeo, they have every kind of bread you need amazing selection. I love the smell soon as I walk in feel like I just want to buy everything.

This is the best place to go for real bread. Semolina, wheat, or prosciutto. Every style from small loaves to huge round loaves and baguette styles. The smell of fresh bread lures you in. It's then a choice what to pick out. There are anisette and biscotti as well. You won't find soft bread in plastic bags here.

It's a very nice bakery with a big selection of Italian pastries I already shopped there twice the chocolate cake that I bought is delicious! Right now the minimum is $15 on the cc, otherwise you have to pay cash.

THE BEST OF THE BEST. I bought half a ring of some sort of very delicious bread with bits of ham in it. I also bought one loaf of chocolate bread and half a loaf of whole wheat bread. 20hrs later, only half the loaf of chocolate bread remain. The bread is just amazing. Very soft on the inside and tasty. The owners are very passionate at what they do. Perhaps this panache is kneaded into the the exceptional quality and flavor of their products. If I didn't live in Manhattan, I would come here everyday. I wish there were some sort of big bakery store in Manhattan that brought together all the delicious bread and pastries from the borough - kind of like the farmer's market, a baker's market instead.

It became the centerpiece of the celebration, and everyone was impressed--including the staff at the venue. I proudly shared Conti's information with them because they kept asking where such an incredible cake came from. They even told me it was the first cake they had ever seen that left such an amazing impression. As beautiful as the cake looked, it tasted even better. It was incredibly delicious, moist, and perfectly balanced--not overly sweet like so many cakes can be. Every single guest raved about it. By the end of the evening, there wasn't a single slice left to take home! I also want to recognize the wonderful staff at Conti's. From the moment I placed my order, they were professional, patient, courteous, and genuinely interested in making sure every detail was exactly as I envisioned. Their customer service was exceptional. My future daughter-in-law recommended Conti's, and I am so grateful she did. I have absolutely no regrets. The customer service, the cake, & the taste was all the same as what it was before. AMAZING! I got the fresh strawberry shortcake with crackers all around for a friend's birthday. I was able to get the bakery to write on the cake and buy candles for the cake as well. They boxed it up for me nicely and safely so the cake wouldn't mess up. When I brought the cake to the party it was the main attraction at the end of the night. The cake was sliced and served. Once the guest had that first bite they were taken aback at how BOMB the cake was! They said it was the perfect kind of sweet. Not overly sweet like other cakes and how it tasted so fresh and delicious. Awww man I need you to experience it for yourself! This cake in particular has me in a chokehold! Their other pastries also look equally amazing on display. COME TO ARTUSO!

As soon as you step inside, you're taken by how large and how clean Artuso is. It is very well lit, and all of these things make it very easy for you to focus on those glass cases full of sweets. Their selection is extremely large and contains all that you would expect (biscotti, rainbow cookies, b&w's, pignolis, etc) as well as Italian ice and various other treats. The line moved fast, and the workers were extremely helpful as we ordered our rainbow cookies and pignoli cookies with cannoli cream. The pignoli were great...they had that signature almond taste, just right. Very enjoyable. And the cannoli cream center was a nice touch, and very good as well. The rainbow cookies were ok. Admittedly, I have a very high bar for rainbows, so I hold them to a high standard...and they were good, just not as flavorful/almondy as I particularly prefer. In all, Artuso is a great stop. A perfect post lunch/dinner spot to grab a quick snack to cap off a meal. Definitely check it out.
