Prices don't seem to have gone up at all, $2 for the seeded Italian loaf and $2.50 for a nice ciabatta. No complaints here, bread was crusty and chewy, just how I like it. It was just jammed into the box unbeknownst to me. I don't have these problems in Brooklyn, uncool. There was a cute nonna in front of me ordering Italian pastries. Went to pickup a Cheesecake late in the afternoon in August 2026, after S&S was closed, after seeing the closed sign at S&S proceeded to the Bodega, I politely asked the employee, where I could find the S&S Cheesecakes that they sell, a very rude employee barked at me with a response that I did not understand, after that uncomfortable response, I looked behind me and noticed an unmarked freezer in the middle of the store, I went over and opened it up, and amongst a bunch of random unrelated items I noticed what appeared to be a few Cheesecakes. I pulled one out and asked another employee if this was a plain cheesecake and did they have any with toppings or fruit, once again I was responded to, with a very angry and rude tone of voice that I could not understand. No Cheesecake is worth the trip to the Bronx to deal with very rude employees, that made the purchase transaction awkward and for a small 7" plain frozen Cheesecake at $30 a very poor experience, also no options as far as toppings or bigger sizes available. If you can make it to the actual S&S Cheesecake when they are open during their limited hours then it is totally worth it. However, as a long time lover of S&S Cheesecake who used to live blocks away as a kid in the 70's, and now I live in CA and have visited S&S many times over the years while visiting family in Manhattan and Long Island, the past few times I have been unable to squeeze in the time to make it to the Bronx during their business hours and started going to the Bodega during and the subsequent years after COVID-19, and have been highly disappointed in the rude and overly nasty employees as well as the lack of quality in the frozen Cheesecakes, each of the times, dealing with the Bodega. Their American offerings shouldn't be overlooked - they have a lot of mini pastries, sweet breads, rolls, and traditional cakes as well. I love their sheet cakes - the sponge is so airy, and you can choose from a large variety of creams, custards, and fruit as filling. Usually I'll opt for whipped cream frosting because it makes the cake super light. Besides the cakes, you really can't go wrong with anything Sal & Dom's offers; they have some of the best cannoli and rainbow cookies I've ever had, and during the holidays they serve up a mean cuccidati.
