Great finds, great prices and the owner is honest and friendly. She also has a great eye to bring in the best fashion. Addiction is a cute little consignment boutique located in the heart of Antique Row. I am a true lover of consignment, especially designer consignment. I actually found it through Yelp and wanted to take a look for myself. I visited the store a few times before I made purchase. After visiting a few times, I finally found more than a few pieces that stole my heart and my money. ;) I came across a beautiful St. John fitted black dress and a DVF wrap dress and a pair of Nanette Lepore gray slacks. All three for under $200! You can't beat that. LOVE! I highly recommend taking a peek for yourself. You will not be disappointed. I have stopped in this boutique 3 separate times as I live in the neighborhood. Each time I had hoped it would be better than the last experience as I think their items are cute, however the woman working the store has made each visit worst than the last. She is unwelcoming, cold, and makes you feel very uncomfortable. I picked out a skirt to try on during my last visit and she did not offer to set it aside in the dressing room. I went ahead and put the item in the dressing room myself, and she proceeded to remove it from the dressing room. Overall, the sales woman makes me never want to buy anything from this boutique despite their nice selection. I would recommend the owner look to higher someone more suitable for a customer facing position. I will not be returning for a fourth visit. read more

I love when my expectations are met. When I pay for certain services at spas or salons, especially for the first time, I am always incredibly apprehensive as to whether these services will deliver what's promised and be worth the money spent. I can say without hesitation that the makeup services at Addiction met and exceeded my expectations. I went into this appointment blind (I had not received recommendations or read reviews regarding their makeup services) and I came out so pleased, and feeling so great - Joelle definitely worked her magic and for $55 and about a little less than half an hour later, I came out with an amazing makeup job with lashes (strips, not individual lashes, which I was hesitant about but they were perfectly applied!) that had lasting power. After consulting with Joelle regarding the kind of makeup I was looking for and the color of the dress that I would be wearing (for the wedding I was attending that evening), Joelle suggested and executed the most lovely navy smoky eye with a perfect layer of foundation finished with a beautiful muted lip with shine. Joelle was friendly, down-to-earth and talented. I would go back to her for special event makeup application in a heartbeat. The makeup studio is in the open, located on a small raised section to the left of their boutique. I did not get a chance to look at all the products that Joelle used, but it seemed to be mostly a mix of MAC products. They offer makeup for all different types of special events, including makeup lessons and private group events. Such a find! I've been shopping here for over a year now. I stop into Addiction when I have some time to kill or when I'm just wandering around the area. Joelle has always greeted me and been very helpful. I almost try not to come in, because I always end up buying something! I've purchased everything from Helmut Lang to 3.1 Phillip Lim here for really good prices. The store always looks clean and well organized. And like I said, it's really hard to leave without buying anything. I can see why Addiction was featured in Best of Philly - definitely well-deserved! With all the rave reviews about this place, I was really excited to find a decent dress for my anniversary dinner. I was so disappointed when I got there. I guess what the owner means by vintage is early-to-mid 2000's junk that nobody wants in their closets. All of this being insanely overpriced, even for a higher-end consignment shop, which this didn't really feel like to me. With such a poor selection I left empty-handed, unfortunately. Plus, the owner/employee was openly watching Netflix while I was there, which I didn't appreciate. Save your time and money. You'd have better luck at Buffalo Exchange. read more

I don't live in the area, so it's always a special treat to go consignment shopping when I visit Philly. This store has clothes, shoes, and bags in amazing condition. Most of it looks like it's only been worn once. The prices are a bit high for Philly. More like the pricing in San Francisco for designer consignment. That said, I am still dreaming about a beautiful, black Prada dress I tried on. Exactly my size, and so well made-ah, that's why the premium designers command the big dollars. As I had no need for yet another sleeveless, black dress, I let it go, especially because of the $250 price tag. However, next time I'm back in town, this will be one of my required stops. read more

My 4 girlfriends and I stopped in here this Saturday after making candles at the nearby Wax and Wine. The moment we walked in the sales woman looked each of us up and down. She didn't bother to ask if we needed help and each time someone would ask a question it seemed like a chore for her to answer. After about 10 minutes I stopped looking and sat down on a ledge near the door waiting for my friends to finish looking around. The lady looks at me and says "Can you scoot over? You are too close to the door." As I began to move over, a nail (!!) that was sticking up from the bench caught my jeans and ripped them - creating a 3 inch hole. The sales lady looks at me and didn't even say a word. A simple "Sorry" would have given this place a 2 star rather than a 1. Luckily I had my Tetnus shot earlier this year...Take your business some place else. read more

Hands down the BEST designer consignment store I have ever been to. My daughter and I do a lot of shopping through consignment stores and websites. Addiction is the one place we go to always find current and AUTHENTIC designer finds. Joelle knows her stuff! She would never sell anything that isn't authentic. I have been to others in Philadelphia that sell knock off brands as authentic. When I see something at Addiction, I know it's 'real' and always a 'deal' Addiction is truly an addiction. It's always fun to see what new stuff they get in. They are always posting their new items on social media which is great since my daughter lives in NY. I used addiction studios make-up services for my August 2014 wedding. Joelle did an AMAZING job. I am not very savvy when it comes to make-up and Joelle was extremely patient and receptive during my trials. The day of the wedding she did my make-up so perfectly -- and also proved to be an extremely calming presence in an otherwise chaotic time. She came to our venue and did four other people's make-up that day. Everyone looked amazing! They all remarked on how much they loved their make-up. She even did one extra person (b/c they saw how good everyone else looked and changed their mind) without batting an eyelash even though it wasn't in the contract. Joelle is an extremely talented make-up artist and I'm so glad I stumbled upon her services when planning the wedding. Top notch customer service and Joelle is awesome- she's always at the boutique( at least every time I've been there), greets me pleasantly and always ready to answer questions. She even settled a (big)issue that I had with one of my purchase- with utmost grace and no hard feelings! I've consigned here and also bought stuff- both experiences were great- she prices the item according to the current market value AND your satisfaction- does not discount the items without talking to you ( unlike some chain consignment stores). She carries mostly high end brands- Prada, Gucci, LV, Chanel etc and has some really cute stuff in the store. I have recommended this store to all my friends and now to all you Yelpers! This is a great store with a wonderful mix of both vintage and newer items that, I agree with the first reviewer, are selected based upon style and not label. Both my girlfriend and I picked up some staple classic pieces without breaking the bank. I love this place!!! What cute stuff. I went to Addiction for the first time on Monday to get my makeup done for an event. Joelle did an amazing job I looked so pretty!!! Everyone commented about my makeup. So not only did I get my makeup done but I left with a pair of Chanel glasses a great bracelet to go with my evening look.. The owners are warm, friendly, helpful women. You can see how they carefully pick for you so you just have to find the right fit. I'm so glad I found addiction studio!!!!...I love the fact that it is an intimate and laid back space with owners that are sweet and relatable. When one enters the studio you are greeted with smiles and a warm welcome. Every time that I have visit addiction studio I never felt the pressure to buy, which is VERY important to me...one can come in and take their time to check out the merchandise without that "used car salesman" approach. Also the owners are very approachable and friendly. Not only do they have fabulous goodies...the makeup expertise is great...I had one of the co-owners (Candice) give me a makeup consultation and I loved the fact that I still look like me just a little jazzed up (smile). She also gave a lot of helpful tips on makeup applications that were easy to replicate. I absolutely LOVEEE the interior in the store from the mirrored tables to the brocade curtains in the fitting room; It makes a gal feel so glamorous (smile). I am so happy with the items that I purchase and will be back for more.
