Jinxed in the Fishtown section of Philly carries an eclectic assortment of items. There were all kinds of unique knick knacks, furniture items, art, and oddly enough a cannon. For a relatively small space, the shop was certainly packed with things. If you are not really looking for anything specific, you never know what you may find wandering around. The prices on some items seemed high, but on others a bit more reasonable. It all depends on what you are looking for. Personally, I don't see myself actually purchasing anything here. I'm not really into antique/vintage furnishings for my home. But, it was a fun browse while visiting Fishtown.

Suck it up and pay the $$. PS its a donation - so if you are REALLY that cheap, you can just go in. I always wish I had $1000 or more to spend everytime I come - but alas, I usually don't have more than $30. Oh punk rock flea market, I wish you were monthly.

Having grown up poor and being forced to wear way too big, tooth achingly ugly winter coats from Goodwill that I'd 'grow into,' hideous polyester button down shirts that a pimp wouldn't touch, scratchy, pill-y wool sweaters reeking of camphor, high water generic blue jeans and summer shorts I would not put on a dog in a clown show, I assiduously avoid things like this. V. was insistent that I would 'go wild' over this flea market because 'it won't be like anything else you've ever been to!!!' I had my doubts about that but you make concessions for friends. We paid our $3 entrance fee and strolled around. Most of the vendor tables had things that were of no interest to me; old playing cards, glassware that was (presumably) collectible, vintage tattoo flash, old silver plate and older, tarnished sterling silver tableware, racks of *shudder* vintage clothing and shoes, most of which had seen better days. There were some well curated tables of antique jewelry and antique beaded bags at very non-bargain prices and a few tables of what I can only call culled pieces from cabinets of curiosities-moth eaten taxidermied items and non-p.c. tourist trash. For the most part, the vendors we encountered were bored seeming or down right rude. The people watching was far better than anything for sale. After 2 hours here, V. bought a very large, ornate dusty rose colored tassel. I asked what she planned to do with it. Her response? 'Do you want it, Warren?' Uhh-that would be NO. I bought nothing. V. wanted to take another spin around the place so I opted to go out to her car to sit and read, telling her to take her time. Another 2 hours passed. She returned empty handed, other than the tassel, to the car. Would I go back? Nope. Should you go if the flea market opens again? It's $3 and maybe an hour or 2 out of your life. You could spend that time and money in worse ways.

HIGH volume of interesting pieces, all artfully arranged. It feels like you've walked into the closet of the coolest chick you know (or dude-- they've got men's clothing to and a limited selection of kids stuff). Owner has an amazing eye for the special and unusual. She is supa sharp, friendly and FLY, toting both a cool life story & of how the store came to be. Chatting with her and her staff through my visit made for a fun shopping experience. Aw they got some sweet lil' puppies in dere too. Lovin' that. All the clothing I inspected- I am a shopper who dallies- was in impeccably good condition. I am not normally the type to blow a lot of dough in one place but I developed romantic relationships with several items and, even after strategically leaving the store to spend the afternoon thinking over whether or not I REALLY wanted them, I returned because turns out I REALLY REALLY DID. At this vintage boutique, the quality and one-of-a-kind nature of the piece comprises the price, which, though not cheap, is worth it if you are the type that cares for your clothes properly. You know what? I am not even one of those people- I'd call my style that of the "funky-slob"- but 2% to glory makes me want to start handwashing and putting in the effort. They've got the goods, now I just need to instill the care habits. I also proposed consignment to the owner, who said "Why not?" though I have yet to drop things off. I'm just happy she's even into the idea, because I see no other way to continue shopping there 'til I have secured a big girl jerb. Though soon as I do, I'll be prowling this joint on the reg. I almost hesitate to publish this review...I picture duking it out with some faceless lady customer for ownership of the woolen rust-colored bathing suit that I hypothetically decide I must have. I'm looking forward to it :).

I just wanted to jump in headfirst and buy everything even though i didn't have a single dime on me. They definitely don't sell filler stuff here! everything is quality awesome stuff. Yes, it's pricey for what it is. usually i'd say "hell naw" and the odds are pretty good that i won't be able to shop here as much as i want, but like i said, there is good stuff here. a lot of the clothes are set up in sections in the shelves to go together. everything about the store is very appealing. as soon as i walked in i exclaimed "i didn't know this place was here!" and one of the girls who worked there looked up from what she was doing and smiled and chatted with me about their hours, etc. very nice, well dressed people here that aren't pretentious or rude! everything else about it is pretty straight forward. i'm just excited to find a nice place close to home that i don't have to dig for hours to emerge with only one good thing!
