I would give 4 stars to this place. We had hot todis as the weather changed suddenly and they were good, cinnamon stick was missing . I don't know why this place isn't more highly rated on Yelp. My husband and I had a great meal there! We were here for a private party so they put our group in the back room. Every dish I had was delicious. Even the fresh bread was pretty impressive... super fluffy and soft and fresh. I really enjoyed the fried stuffed squash blossom, it looked visually appealing and tasted as good as it looked. I ordered the scallops and my husband had the salmon. Both entrees were cooked to perfection. The potatoes and mushrooms that came with my scallops were absolutely perfect: the potatoes were so crispy on the outside but still soft on the inside! I saw that they have a pretty popular happy hour. We got there at 6:30pm on a Tuesday and were surprised they were pretty much full! We missed the happy hour time but I would love to try their happy hour next time. Bathroom was very clean. Service was great. Revival was my girl's choice for Valentine's Day. The ambiance is whey and fun. It was busy because of Valentine's Day and service was good. They moved people in and out well. Because it's Berkeley, parking is always hit or miss. The food we had was pretty good. All dishes we had had a nod to Asia which was cool. I found out later the Chef owner spent some time in Asia for an extended time. Her choice of fruit and vegetables very fresh and elevated her dishes. I came here the other day with some coworkers, and I ordered the Patella. The Patella looked really good, but unfortunately, it was so oily that I did not find it edible. I feel like they had used a bowl of oil. The restaurant was no busy and the service was slow. My coworker's kale salad was soaked in the dressing. The staff explained the menu well and checked in at the right times. No issues there at all. But when it came to the food, things went sideways. The presentation was the first red flag. For a spot that leans on a seasonal, chef-driven identity, the plates came out looking surprisingly sloppy. Edges messy, portions uneven, and one of the boards looked like everything was just piled in a heap. It didn't look intentional; it looked rushed. And flavor-wise? Let's just say the food -- other than the pizza -- was not a winner. Nothing we tried was terrible, but nothing stood out either, and most dishes felt under-seasoned or unfocused. The pizza was the one bright spot: hot, flavorful, and clearly coming from the strongest section of their kitchen. If the rest of the menu had the same attention as the pizza oven, this would be a different review. The good news? The cocktails were impressive -- balanced, creative, and easily one of the highlights of the night. If you come for anything, come for the drinks. Overall, Revival has the atmosphere, the service, and the bar program going for it, but the food needs more consistency and way more attention to detail -- especially with presentation. Lovely spot with a very Berkeley feel. Went here with a group for a pre-show dinner, and were pleasantly surprised that our server asked if we had plans after dinner and at what time so she could ensure our food came out on time so we wouldn't be rushing to the playhouse. As for the food, everything was delicious! I myself shared a brussel sprout app with the beef bourguignon. Both were flavorful, fresh, and perfectly hit the spot -- plus they were the perfect amount to share between two (with a little more extra to spare). The beef was very tender; we were impressed. Revival is one of the best restaurants left at Berkeley after the Pandamic. The food is excellent with high quality of produce and organic. The service is one the best customer service with a lovely craft cocktail and full bar as well. The Ambiance is just fit your vibes as you want it. PARKING: I believe street metered parking is free after 6pm, so if you can snag one up, you're in luck! But please do not leave anything visible! One of us had her car broken into just down the street! I appreciate the extensive beverage menu which includes non-alcoholic cocktails, which I had! I chose: BLOOMS IN MORNING DEW - $12 Blueberry & Mint Tea, Pineapple, Lime, Rosemary, and Citrus Egg White Foam. Why am I always a sucker for drink with eggs in them? This drink was so good with the right amount of sweetness! I'm really glad I ordered it! It's also so pretty. HOUSE PICKLE PLATE - $12 Zucchini, carrot, cauliflower, bread and butter pickles. It's pickles, which of us decided on this? It's a waste in my opinion, I would have preferred actual bread and butter, haha. Didn't hit a spicy one though, thank goodness. CONFIT DUCK WINGS - $16 Black Pepper & Orange glaze, arugula and orange jus. Pretty impressed with this one! I thoroughly enjoyed it. I believe it came with 5 pieces. RBK HOUSE DUCK TWO WAYS - $36 Mary's organic smoked duck breast and confit leg, port jus, mashed potatoes, heirloom spinach, cherries. More duck! I hosted a graduation party for my daughter and several of her friends (total of 40 people) at Revival and it was really great! Their private room was already booked so they had us off on the side of the restaurant and it worked out just fine and felt like our own space. I worked with their manager named Lucy, and they were really accommodating with working with our budget and various dietary restrictions to create a menu that accommodated everyone. The food is seriously delicious, from the appetizers to the dessert. We were able to hang our own decorations and balloons which was nice, they had staff just for our party passing our appetizers and serving us all night long. Their house wine was totally delicious and affordable...I would def. recommend Revival for your next gathering! Also, it wasn't too loud which can always be a concern at restaurants. read more

I had won a gift card here and was notified in an email that we can only order online and can't dine in, which is a first in my opinion. Since I took note of this, I went ahead and order directly on their website: pepperoni pizza, stone fruit & burrata, and fries. After waiting for awhile, I called to see if our order is ready and came to find out they don't accept any orders on their website due to them operating on a third party site =/ They could've put an announcement on their website to notify their customers ahead of time. So... I had to replace the stone fruit burrata to a heirloom tomato burrata, that was unfortunate as my friend really wanted to try that. My friend & I drove there and they had everything ready to go. We wanted to dine in and we ask the staff if it's ok for us to sit & eat, and they're actually fine with it. It would've been perfect if they notify us that we can actually dine in and order instead of order online if their website can't take orders.. While sitting and eating our food, we order two non alcoholic drinks: pineapple silk daqurai & a blood orange shrub mocktail which was good. Besides the hierloom tomatos, the food was mid. Only good thing is that their service was very good. They were friendly & accommodating to our requests. It's one of the oldest Ace classic bar and restaurant in Berkeley. Location is great with accessible with central Berkeley and good for walking around before or after visiting this place. Therefore it's a resort for people waiting for a show or theater close by making Friday nights or weekend nights very busy and gets suddenly calm like after 7ish when shows starts! Food is delicious with good varieties. Service is relatively quick with responsive friendly waiters. There is full bar with good variety of cocktails. Good for gathering, groups, meetup and dates. Parking is a hassle in general in downtown Berkeley but doable. read more

Bar area seemed rather large, though I had made a reservation for the main dining room. As others had mentioned, service can be a bit slow, so don't expect a fast meal unless you say something ahead of time. I was fine with the pace and dessert was our only hiccup. Both time the service was impeccable, the drinks inventive and classic where appropriate. The cheese and charcuterie boards were good, last night had the pumpkin arancini...so good. At some point, I'll make it to Revival. I've passed by it on Shattuck, but my timing was off about dining in there. However, I've always been fast on the draw when it comes to delivery, and I saw a salad with my name on it. Literally because my name was on the takeout box from their delivery service aptly named King Kale. It was the $22 Kale Caesar Salad. With the extras I ordered, it jumped up to $34.77. That included $4 for the Grilled Shrimp. $1.50 for Avocado, and miscellaneous fees and sales tax. The effort was reasonable, even though it was rather overdressed (photo: https://bit.ly/3JhwR0E). I did like how they wrote a note to disclaim that they substituted cucumbers with snow peas and mini bells. It's the thought that counts. Wow, finally tried Revival and was very disappointed. The happy hour drink was laughably small, and the $17-18 salad was pathetic. Bartenders were friendly, but too busy to be attentive. Was hoping this could be a pre-theater spot, but will look elsewhere next time. read more

This place is okay for small plates and appetizers, however the service is very slow and the pizza is subpar. We ordered the Brussels Sprouts and the Pumpkin Arancini as appetizers. The sprouts were a bit limp and overcooked - we could've done without them, but the Arancini was tasty. The puttanesca pizza was just bad. How can you mess up pizza so badly? I am not sure, as it's pretty simple to make a delicious pizza. Nevertheless, I was surprised at how disappointing the pizza was. Slivr is ten times better than the pizza here. Way too salty, not enough cheese, not enough tomato sauce, or even toppings. Half of the slices were simply exposed dough with no cheese or toppings. It's been a while since I have been in a restaurant and this unsatisfied with the quality of a simple pizza. To top it off, (pun intended) the service was so slow that it took more than 20 minutes for this pizza to arrive. I would definitely explore other options for dinner in Berkeley, and don't plan on giving Revival a second visit. read more

Ambiance was traditional nice American, but the food isn't farm to table so it's just okay. Taste wise the chicken sandwich was lacking flavor and was a bit dry. We went to the Revival Bar & Kitchen for the first time this past Saturday. When we walked in, I was so impressed by the beautiful interior and everything was very clean. The food was amazing and I love how everything is locally sourced and organic. I had the steak and my husband had the duck. I'm picky about steak and the server assured me that it was a quality cut. She was right! We had drinks and they were amazing craft cocktails. I felt like the pricing was really fair for what you get and our server, Angie, was so informative and attentive. An early New Years Eve dinner with the family. Ok, I didn't like the recent price increases (foccaccia and optional accompaniments were up 10% and 17%, respectively, among other increases) or, their dropping the steak and burger from the menu (contrary to their response, they did not have either on Dec. 31 by dinnertime, which was confirmed by the server) or, their passing on a 3% credit card fee, but overall the portion size was good and the food better than average. We had the cabernet by the glass, oysters, foccaccia, fish stew, short ribs, risotto, sticky toffee pudding, chocolate torte, a Shirley Temple and expresso. The only other disappointments were having to ask for more water and the servers failure to put in our pizza order (though we were so full we asked her not to at the end of our meal). read more

I visited Revival Bar and Kitchen on a recent visit to Berkeley. It was early evening on a Sunday and we stopped in because it was right in front of us and there were some things on the menu that we thought sounded good. We walked in and sat at the bar. It's a pretty good sized restaurant but it wasn't busy at the hour that we visited. The bartenders were friendly and helpful in explaining our questions about the menu. I appreciated some of the unique-sounding cocktail options and had a hard time making a decision. I went with the rosemary smoked old fashioned. The drink was very strong, to that point that I couldn't really taste the rosemary shrub that was the most enticing ingredient for me. As this was the stand-out element making it different from a regular old fashioned, I would have preferred a little more of the rosemary flavor. For food, we went with 6 oysters and and the duck confit wings. The oysters were pretty good but needed to be loosened from the shells-- I always appreciate when they do that ahead of time. The duck confit wings just weren't great. They were tough and difficult to get off of the bone. When I hear confit, I think slow-cooked, greasy, and melt-in-your-mouth tasty and I didn't really get that from this dish. The friend I dined with wasn't a huge fan, either. The oysters were the best part but still not the best I've ever had. Not sure if I'd visit again. read more

Oddly, they presented us with dinner specials after we had already ordered, that caused my partner quickly change our selections. The anchovies on the Caesar salad were unpleasant, and the peach strawberry shortcake was disappointing--it came with a flat biscuit rather than actual cake. Unfortunately, the service significantly detracted from our experience. The wait staff appeared very unhappy, and our waitress was particularly rude, though we chose to ignore it. The less than desirable service was especially disappointing since I had been looking forward to a nice dinner date. Went here on a Saturday evening with my family. Chill ambience with a Goldilocks amount of patrons (not too many that it's unbearably loud, not too few that it's uncomfortable). I don't know why Revival only has 3.5 stars because all of the food was delicious!!! We ordered the arancini ($12), cioppino ($29), fried chicken ($26), and braised short ribs ($31). - arancini (4 risotto balls) . . . way exceeded my expectations! They come with a basil aioli and various herbs/vegetables that combine exquisitely. - cioppino . . . comes with mussels, clams, shrimp, lingcod, and calamari. All of them are so good!! - ribs . . . are tender and flavorful!!! - fried chicken . . . comes with allepo-honey glaze sauce, whipped yam, and rainbow chard, 2 thighs, 1 drumstick.The drumstick was kind of dry and sad, but they made up for it with the thighs, which were excellently sauced and had the perfect amount of crispiness. The whipped yams were also good. The rainbow chard was not a rainbow. I've seen the pictures on Google that are a colorful array. This was maybe 2 colors. Also did not like their taste. Overall though, still a great dish! By the way, Revival seems to change its menu FAST. Below, I posted a January 23, 2022 menu I found on their website and the menu from my visit on February 5, 2022. I've always loved the food and drinks here, so decided to host my 80th birthday party in their banquet room. We had 46 guests for drinks, dinner and dancing, and everyone was blown away by the delicious food, the superb service and the fun atmosphere. Revival is truly one of my favorite bar's to sit at in Berkeley. It is so homey and comfortable! Recently Isaac has been behind the bar for happy hour (which is back 4-6 weekdays- I could be wrong, it might be all week). He is an amazing mixologist and is always willing to craft you something to your flavor or alcohol preference. He has been creating really imaginative and exciting drinks for their cocktail menu lately. It helps that Revival has a great liquor selection. The happy hour menu is great, as is the dinner menu! This was not our first visit but certainly the most unpleasant. It's location is convenient to where we go to hear music. Tonight, the burgers were way overcooked and my friend's burger bun on the top was burned and my bottom bun was burned and I mean black as if fire had torched it. Maybe they mixed and matched. My fries were mostly little tiny pieces of potatoes. The basil aioli had a very weird taste. Timing was such that we could not return the food and have another wait for things to be recooked. When the waitress finally came to check on us and ask about the food, we were honest and she was going to have the manager stop by. They never showed up. I can't imagine going back after tonight. To keep customers happy they should have comped our drinks or maybe one of the burgers. read more
