A Berkeley staple! Raleigh's is definitely a go-to spot in Berkeley both during the day and night. It's a nice spot to grab a tasty and affordable bite to eat. The portions are large! The nachos are an all-time tasty fav. The drink prices are a bit high but are definitely tasty and strong! There is both indoor and outdoor seating. The inside area can get busy to the point where it's difficult to move so I recommend eating outside. One of the outdoor patios is shared with the neighboring business, Mezzo's and is not 21+. The second patio is 21+ and features another bar, tables, TVs, bocce ball, and corn hole. The vibes are very reminiscent of a beer garden. The service is pretty good too! The bartenders are very nice and quick. If you order food, they'll give you a number and bring it out whenever it's ready. Even when it's busy, the servers don't seem to have trouble finding you. Raleigh's is the place to be on Taco Tuesdays. It's the first stop in the Berkeley area bar rotation. You'll find cheap tacos and margaritas (don't expect taco truck quality food though). I decided to try out Raleigh's for lunch after seeing a video online raving about their spicy chicken Caesar wrap. The setting is very casual--you order at the bar, and they bring the food to your table. Overall, the food was just okay. We got the fries, which were pretty standard, but the chipotle sauce helped elevate them. My mom and sister ordered the Brussels sprouts and chicken wings; they really enjoyed the wings but weren't fans of the sprouts, which were undercooked. The chicken Caesar wrap was definitely the highlight--it had good flavor and lived up to the hype. Mid food and mid vibes. Probably won't be returning. read more

If you're a fan of Mezzo in Berkeley, you may know about this spot already since their backyard space is right next door..but if you're still reading this and looking for an outdoor spot to meet friends and enjoy the weather, a brew, and some yummy pub grub, this is for sure a fun one. Our group ordered a burger and fries, nachos, and brews..all incredibly solid. Juicy meat, crunchy fries, all the dipping sauces, and honestly..I'm always a fan of pub nachos and these were nicely executed. The interior is perfect to get cozy for a game or two, and there's also an even more cozy interior fire pit/spot to get warm. Lotsa foot traffic for CAL events and holidays, we somehow have been here the last few Paddy days (I think they still do green beer?). After this night, I felt truly old seeing all the college students... Awesome hangout spot for all the CAL bears especially for game nights and those staying in the city that needs a drink and some grub. Not sure if it is because it is a college town but the food and drinks were all reasonably priced. Nachos / ceviche / 3 drinks came out to 50 bucks which is basically 2 drinks in a regular bar now-a-days Nachos can feed about 4-6 people which we learned as we had 4 different nachos hit our table, plenty of protein and good stuff. Everything here is amazing. The service, ambiance and food. It was my first time here this past weekend and I'm so happy I came in! The lavender hard kombucha is really good. For apps we got nachos with chicken (also ask for the spicy aioli that they give for the fries), buffalo cauliflower wings, and birria tacos. The nachos were AMAZING. The buffalo wings were also reallyyyy good, and the birria tacos are extremely flavorful. If you had to chose one thing to get I would 100% recommend the nachos. Cute place in Oakland!! When you enter, you scan a QR code to see the menu and order at the bar. Both bartenders were busy but nice, and took our orders relatively quickly. I ordered the Raleigh's house burger (add avocado) with a side of onion rings. I was surprised that it wasn't too expensive- $16ish for the whole shabang (including the add avo). The burger came out on a brioche bun and was pretty large. My party needed a knife to cut in half! The burger was tasty, but nothing super noteworthy. They did not skimp on the avocado addition either; definitely a full half avocado was on there. The sides were also decently sized! As I get older, I'm starting to realize that being around large groups of people just isn't my cup of tea. I love people and I'm very social, but being in places with too many people is like sensory overload for me. BUT... college bars are where I bend the rules sometimes. Of course, it's dependent on the bar and my mood. Raleigh's Pub is one of those college bars that doesn't feel like a hipster joint. It's filled with hipsters, but what I adore about this bar is that they have patrons from all walks of life. It's diverse and low key. A great spot to chill at with friends, for casual dates, or even on a solo tip. Since it's a college bar, you'll get to reap the benefits of college prices. Very affordable but not at the expense of quality (at least where the drinks are concerned). They've got a huge open back patio space which is the main attraction, especially when the weather is warm. But inside has its' cozy charm too. They have a ton of beers to choose from and options for the non-brew lovers as well. Lots of TV's for your sports viewing pleasure. The food isn't anything special but it's good. Expect your typical American bar food. I had a blue cheeseburger during my last visit, and it was overcooked but the flavor was still good. Don't come here thinking you're gonna get some gourmet cuisine. Although, you could definitely get a bomb ass salad from right next door (Raleigh's Pub is combined with Mezzo). They will card you after a certain hour when the pub becomes 21+ for the evening. Don't forgot those ID's, folks! They play a stellar mix of music here too. The restrooms are communal abs unisex (everyone shares one sink and mirror). It's very hip and modern here and I like it. Can't forget to mention that the beers are pretty tasty here too. Turns out Raleigh's is the best spot to hang out at for Taco Tuesday?! With $2.50 street tacos & $6 margs AND the great ambiance, it's pretty hard to beat. They even have flavored margs like lime, mango, and strawberry. I've always loved Raleigh's because they have an extensive beer collection, games outside, and amazing onion rings. I recently discovered Taco Tuesdays and have become even more of a fan. I will say that the service is pretty slow on Tuesday since they're so busy -- some people were waiting for food for 20+ minutes and they even messed up my order a couple times. Whenever I'm in Berkeley, it's like I have to stop here lol. I love the ambiance. It does have a young, hip crowd. I love the insider firepit and the bleacher-style seating. Great college beer bar with a gorgeous back area. There's usually plenty of space for larger groups, and they have a very expansive beer menu. The "share" foods are really good -- my friends and I have tried the fries, onion rings, buffalo cauliflower, loaded nachos, and chips and guac; all of those were tasty with large portions. The burger was decent but forgettable, which is alright--I don't think I would go to Raleigh's for the food, but I would definitely go for a drink. It's the perfect spot for a happy hour, and the staff is very friendly (I once accidentally left my bag there, and they had tucked it away with a note for me when I came back to get it the next day). My favorite go-to for nachos, and they're quite generous with the jalapenos. The place next door (Mezzo) always has a line, for those with healthier inclinations. Not me. Beer me. They have Allegash on tap, lots of other choices, and quick served bar food. I've never ventured out back before, but what a fabulous space for groups! I watched an Eagles-Niners playoff game here a couple years ago, and the atmosphere was fun, not nasty (I was wearing Eagles gear). Most restaurants around this pub are closed on Mondays, so we came here for a post-grad luncheon. This spot has lots of open indoor and outdoor seating. The seating area ranges from booths for more privacy to long tables with benches for larger team/family gatherings. We sat for a few minutes until we realized the QR code on the tables was for the menu only. We had to order drinks and food at the bar. The bar area was filled with people, and we were passed up twice prior to getting help. This young lady saw what happened and immediately came over with a smile and apologized while asking what we wanted to order. After that she made sure to prioritize our order, so we made sure to thank her by handing her an additional cash tip for looking out for us. I had the Raleigh's House Burger with blue cheese. Raleigh's is a local pub most of the college students and young adults (including myself) flock to in the area for taco Tuesday. While it's crowded, they usually have decent deals and the food is pretty good. However, my friend and I decided to stop by on a Sunday evening just for some casual food. We're both huge fans of the nachos ($12) enough to share between us and added carnitas for $3 more. Our main issue was waiting 30 minutes for our food and having to check-in twice. On a Taco Tuesday it would've been expected to have a long wait, we were just off guard since business seemed slow and most people had already gotten their order. This was my favorite unplanned stop in our recent trip to Berkeley. We were walking through an amazing holiday street market and needed a break.
