I agree with what has been said here that Dr. Naim is thorough, knowledgeable and kind. But there…read moreis a lot more to him than just that. I met him in Northridge hospital ER exactly a year ago when he took care of my elderly mother, admitted with a recurrent upper GI hemorrhage. She had been scoped before, and no source of bleeding had been identified. We had almost lost hope in obtaining a valid diagnosis let alone stopping the bleeding. Providers had given up on my suffering mother and were treating her like a hypochondriac... Then came that young yet fearless Dr. Naim. He acted like the person in charge. He is not someone who will accept missing a diagnosis, and this is a trait so rare nowadays. He studied my mother's extensive imaging history. He also called me and explained elaborately his assessment and plan to me. He is a natural teacher. He scoped my mother and found a 3-mm gastric ulcer that he clipped, and we never saw a trace of that again. So thankful for Dr. Naim's care of my mother who soon later passed away for an unrelated reason. Physicians need to remember that how they treat a patient may be the last act of mercy or battery in the patient's life, and one of the last memories the patient's survivors are left with. God bless your hands Dr. Naim.

He recently did my colonoscopy, which was my third. By far the easiest process to date, save one issue I describe below. The prep was so easy this time; Dr. Eshaghian gave me the option to do a pill based cleanse 12 hours before my procedure, and it was a game changer. And according to the doctor, the results were perfect, which was not always the case with the old "drink three gallons of this horrible tasting stuff and spend the next 36 hours on the toilet" approach. The procedure only took 20 minutes and he was bedside to give me his impressions the moment I woke up. The anesthesiologist he works with is terrific, as well. All in all, a great experience save the issue below. So I highly recommend him. There is one thing to note, however. He has contracted with Valley Endoscopy Center as the place where he does his procedures. They are quite awful. Scheduling was a cluster of confusion between the Center and the doctor's office; I got different messages each time I spoke to each and it created a bit of an issue with arranging for the timing of my before- and after-care. Plus, when I arrived for the procedure (once the time was finally solidified), there were a bunch of people sitting on the floor in the hallway because the waiting room did not have enough chairs for the number of people having procedures done. And then I went in an hour behind schedule because the Center was short-staffed with nurses (which I understand is a universal problem, so I can give a pass on this one). But the doctor is a win as mentioned above, so I was willing to put up with these issues. I do hope he upgrades the Center he uses, though.

I rarely write reviews, but this experience deserves attention. I had a colonoscopy at this…read moresurgical center and, although the procedure itself went smoothly and the anesthesiologist was attentive, nearly everything else about the facility and staff was disorganized, inattentive, and at times downright unprofessional. To begin, my appointment was scheduled for 12:30 PM, yet I wasn't called in until 1:30 PM. The nurse casually explained that "the doctor's paperwork states patients may have to wait longer because he's always very busy." That's an unacceptable attitude toward patients who are fasting, dehydrated, and exhausted after an all-night prep. The front desk staff were equally dismissive, giving short, condescending responses when multiple patients asked about the delay. No one offered an apology or update. Once I was finally called in, I was told to place my belongings in a locker--but there were no keys, so all lockers were wide open. I was advised to take my purse with me and put it under my bed. The gowns were of the cheapest, scratchy material, and no slippers or socks were provided. What felt especially ironic was that, while I was explaining to the anesthesiologist that I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (a connective tissue disorder requiring, among other things, extreme care with IV placement), the nurse attempting to insert my IV seemed completely unaware of how to handle this properly. She repeatedly smacked the back of my hand to "bring up the vein," which was extremely painful and contraindicated for someone with fragile veins. Despite my saying "ouch" multiple times, she did not stop or reposition the IV. The lack of professionalism continued after the procedure. No one offered water, or provided a call button for assistance. I lay in my recovery bed for about 20 minutes before the doctor appeared briefly to summarize results that were already written on my discharge paper. Finally, though the center required an emergency contact and driver for pickup, no one called my contact to let him know I was done. He only found out because I texted him myself while getting dressed. When he arrived, there was not a single staff member around to check me out or acknowledge my departure. To make matters worse, several hours after the procedure, my hand is still swollen, red, and painful from the IV site--clear evidence of how poorly it was handled. The only positive aspect of the entire experience was the anesthesiologist, who took my EDS seriously and provided good care during the procedure itself. Otherwise, this center demonstrated poor patient communication, lack of basic amenities, and an alarming disregard for safety and respect. I strongly recommend that others consider alternative facilities where patient well-being and professionalism are treated as priorities.

Let me assure you from step A-Z this duo (Mrs. Ying and Dr Tsai) are terrific, no-nonsense, punctual, efficient, and very well detailed and prepped me with every detail, from the tangled web of insurance/claims etc. to the procedure day. Mrs Ying answered any questions right away via text, she is so nice. The whole team at the surgical center in Encino also did a fantastic job. It was as painless and smooth as this procedure could be. Highly recommend, and all my family members will have their guts checked out here from this point on. Thank you guys and God Bless. Hi Yelpers!! I was…read morereferred to Dr.Tsai by a friend of mine who has been a patient of his for over 10 years. I needed a colonoscopy and endoscopy procedures done as I have a strong paternal family history of stomach and colon cancer and I am a 2x breast cancer survivor and there is a link between breast and colon cancer. I was able to get an Consultation appointment just very quickly with Dr Tsai. He went over my complete medical history and suggested I add another acid medication to help control my reflux. I then scheduled my procedures with his wife Ying who runs the day to day. Let me tell you that Dr Tsai and Ying run the MOST efficient office and medical practice of any doctor I have ever been too. This includes my Father's who was a doctor here in the San Fernando Valley for 57 years. I received detailed, clear, and concise instructions on how to prep for both procedures and their follow up is incredible. Both Dr Tsai and Ying make these tests easy and without any issues. Dr Tsai performs the procedures at the Encino location of Specialty Surgical Center and I have been to their facility many times. My procedures started on time and I was on my way home in a little over 2 hours which is exactly the amount of time that Ying said it would take. Coming from a background in medicine having had a father who was a doctor, I can't recommend Dr Tsai and his medical practice high enough. If I could give him 100 stars I would. Yelpers, you are in excellent hands with Dr. Tsai and Ying!! They both truly care about the health and welfare of their patients and from the minute I met them I felt that my care was the utmost priority for them. Ying answered every question and concern immediately, which is unheard of nowadays.
