Hmmmm. Special on board outside listed fish tacos. Came in and was told they were out of fish. Ok. The bean dip came with the free chips but the dip tasted burned. The chips had some crunch but were soft and stale. Not a good start. I ordered a lemonade and got a lime soda, lol. My beef taco was steak and I thought it was going to hamburger, but that's okay. It was dry with no sauce but I added some sour cream. The taco tasted alright other than the dryness. Probably won't come back. On another note, my mom likes her shrimp taco. She added tomato and thousands island dressing. The process were a little high. Average was $15-$20 with sides extra

Small burrito for 9.00 plus change salsa cup half size of burrito

I always want to give a place a week or two after opening work out the Kinks, even stopped in 2 times for drinks but for what they're charging for a burrito $9 for a tiny burrito, I figured a carnitas burrito has to be a good start. The salsa cup as pic shows was about 1/2 the size of the burrito. I was looking at all of the fours and fives and I thought wow I'm missing something here well I guess they're all skinny people that eat here. The staff is very pleasant the place is clean the food was flavorful but when I have to go to the sandwich place after I paid $9 for a burrito and pick up a sandwich next door to take with me that is highly unacceptable so if you're a light eater enjoy, if you are a big eater eat before you get here. Walking out I did see plates that looked good but not 13 and 15.00 dollars good. Recommendations make the portions to match what you charge. To satisfy my curiosity I took my own black salsa cup from the Restaurant supply, just like yours, took 2 El Monterrey bag burritos at 3.99 put them end to end and same size, when you taste more beans and rice and the flavor is washed out on the Carnitas that's sad. I grew in Mexican restaurants mom own 2 one in Tucson for 28 years the other in Fresno Calif for 12 years, my own for 15 years, trust me you dont last that long if your not doing something right. read the kind reviews were the reviews stating excellent food or good? its ok to have a limited menu, KFC built a large company doing one thing right. What's your claim? Ours was Value, flavor, and larger portions........not here to bash the owners, just let them know your competition isnt that hard to beat here, but your biggest competition is next door at olivers , big sandwiches for 7-8 dollars, sad, lunch with you, and going next door totaled 17.00 tax and tips not included

    Carne asada tacos!

I came in last week for a quick afternoon snack. I opted for 3 tacos, all carne asada, but cant wait to try other meats. The service was quick and the food was even better. They has a salsa bar set up with chips and different toppings which was great. The homemade green salsa was fantastic!! They said really hot, I said perfect. I found myself picking up the the meat droppings off my plate it was so good.

We are so, so happy we found El Bucana's! We moved last year from So Cal and were a little disappointed that Mexican food "with soul" was so difficult to find in Washington. Then we found El Bucana's. Our meals were cheap (around $24 out the door for two full entrees, a soda, and homemade flan) and flavorful without piling on cheese and sour cream. I got the carne asada tacos (again, actually authentic, corn tortillas and no pile of cheese) and my husband got chicken taquitos. Both came with guac, homemade rice, and perfectly seasoned beans. We both took leftovers home. The place was clean and service was awesome. This is definitely our go to Mexican place!

We came in for dinner on Cinco de Mayo and ended up paying $83 for two people, each with one entrée and two drinks. I get that it was a busy night, but the value just wasn't there. Prices have gone up quite a bit, and unfortunately the quality doesn't feel like it's kept up. The quesabirria tacos were $24.99 for three, and they came with two very small salsa bowls (both beans) and a small scoop of rice. For that price, it just didn't feel reasonable. On top of that, the tostada I ordered had a soggy shell, which made it hard to even enjoy. I've always liked PV, which is why this was disappointing to experience. It feels like PV has gotten significantly more expensive while the food quality has taken a step back.

Our server was not interested in us after realizing we were not going to order alcohol. The chips were fresh and warm and the salsa was mediocre. They added dried pepper flakes to make it spicier instead of using real fresh chiles. The portions were huge. I did love their refried bean. I ordered the Los Tres Amigos. I was a bit sad that the chile rellenos was omelette wrapped instead of egg batter. It was still tasty. I had asked for corn tortillas and got flour. My mom's steak fajitas were decent. Was a little worried about the cleanliness, we were seated at a table that still had the receipt and the change/tip left on it and not wiped down. Will I go back?? Probably not. So many other places to try.

I ordered the $21 meat lovers omelette, and I was honestly surprised by what was served. For that price point, I expected a substantial, well executed dish. Instead, the omelette was relatively small, the sausage and ham inside were cold, and the eggs were cooked to the point that they resembled an overdone scramble more than a folded omelette. At that price, that felt difficult to justify. Additionally, there was no pricing listed on the menu for a side of bacon. Being charged $7 for 4 pieces of thin bacon without any prior indication of cost felt uncomfortable and unexpected. Transparency in pricing matters, especially at those rates. My wife ordered a scramble, and unfortunately, it was presented as an open faced mound of eggs placed on top of meat, cheese, and what were labeled as home fries. The potatoes were deep fried and did not resemble home fries in texture or preparation. Presentation aside, the overall execution did not reflect the quality we anticipated. I say all of this respectfully, but firmly: based on this experience, there is not a realistic possibility that we would return. When a restaurant displays a food rating publicly, customers naturally assume a certain standard. After our breakfast this morning, I can understand how that rating may have been earned. I hope this feedback is received in the constructive spirit it's intended. We believe restaurants deserve the opportunity to hear honest experiences directly. Wishing you the best moving forward.

Brunch, Special menus for holidays, dinner, cocktails, dessert-it has all been top notch. This is a gem. Menu changes regularly so there is always something fresh and new. Prices may seem a little high for the area but the food and drink justify it. On my most recent visit we got 2 appetizers, two entrees (one was steak with shrimp add on), 3 desserts, and 5 cocktails for $250 which was not outrageous. Portion sizes are great. Food is full of flavor and cooked perfectly. We have sat on the restaurant side a few times but normally sit in a booth on the bar side. There is also a small patio off the bar in good weather. Bartenders are friendly and engaging. Plenty of parking and easy to get to. Only reason I knocked it a half star is the service on the bar side can be slow or feel forgotten about sometimes but it just depends on the time of day and if the bartender is having to do double duty or if they have dedicated wait staff in that area.

When we walked in, we had the option of going to the bar area or restaurant. We chose the bar. The place was spacious and had ample seating. We sat down and a gal came to our table to ask for our order. She immediately came off as very standoffish, but, all good, we were there to relax and enjoy. We ordered wings to start off with. Mind you, it was happy hour which she mentioned herself. Cool, thank you. The wings were decent but some were soggy. But it's all good. We then ordered an entree and more wings because we were hungry. Did another dozen wings in the buffalo sauce. Our waitress, Kalidawn, reiterating the wings were 2 orders. Didn't make sense but it did in the end as she was trying to separate the orders as "half orders" to charge more? When in reality, it was the same buffalo flavor for the dozen wings so it wasn't a "half order". Really? You're going to do all of that to get you an extra few dollars? She was already rude, dismissive, and bothered from the beginning. We try to look past these things but she was truly excessive. It's like she wanted to make a statement and hated that we weren't regulars. We ended up getting sick after eating here. The service was beyond disappointing and the food sucked, but we also got sick which was the cherry on the cake. We will never be back and hope others think twice. And to find out, Kalidawn is the manager at the restaurant. So don't even bother trying to complain about her horrible HORRIBLE service and attitude. She runs the place which makes sense as to why I'm sure they're struggling. Do better.

Not Your Typical Mexican Restaurant…read more I've eaten my share of Mexican food, and frankly, I'm bored with it. So when my wife suggested Vecindad in Tacoma, I bit my tongue and went along with it just to appease her. Glad I did. This place was excellent, and had some interesting choices. First up, we ordered guacamole as a starter. So what, you say? Every Mexican restaurant offers that. Yeah but have you ever had the guac served in the shape of a round cake ring, accompanied by whole tortilla chips? The presentation felt upscale, even though the price was reasonable. And the guac was very good. My wife then ordered their famous Tacos Don Ramón, made from ribeye steak and melted asadero cheese. These used to be prepared and served tableside, until some local government agency ordered them to stop making it that way. The waitress told us they're modeled after the Michelin-star rated tacos from a well-known Mexico City taquería called El Califa de León. These were delicious, and unlike any tacos I've ever had. I ordered their short ribs entrée, an item I've never seen on the menu of any Mexican restaurant. The ribs had a fantastic char, with a tasty slightly fatty flavor, and a portion size that felt like a very good value. Also, the beans/frijoles accompanying the short ribs were puréed, making them another item I've never seen served in that fashion at a Mexican place. They were also flavorful and perfectly complemented the short ribs. Even though we live about 30 minutes away, we're definitely planning on going back to Vecindad. Great food, great service, reasonable price.
