Cute mom and pop spot, you can tell it's family owned & operated. Breakfast comes out fast and HOT. Which i appreciate, i hate when food is lukewarm. Coffee is good as well. The decorative style speaks to the family importance and it's also simplistic, no frills and nothing fancy. Price point is excellent compared to surrounding spots. Now, this place is your standard mom and pop restaurant. As far as food goes, you have your everyday breakfast, things like meatloaf, and other home cooking. But it is the service and hospitality that would make me visit over and over again. You are greeted as soon as you walk in, by who I believe are the owners. Not much decoration inside, but the owners are very friendly. We found this place for breakfast after the planned restaurant was closed on a Tuesday. We were welcomed and served immediately. I got chocolate chip pancakes, which were very delicious! My friend got a veggie omlette,which she loved. The potatoes were crispy. We sat and talked a while, with no pressure to leave. The only reason we found Poppy's was that the place we originally wanted to go to was closed for Labor Day. This is small, "old time" neighborhood type of breakfast place. We were greeted very warmly by who I would guess are the owners, an elderly couple who are obviously enjoying themselves. There's a small counter with a tv on behind it and about 8 tables. The menu is basic, eggs, omelettes, French toast, pancakes, 2 hashes, a couple of Benedict's, breakfast sandwiches. There are some lunch items too but I did t look at them. We both got the corned beef hash with 2 eggs over easy and whole wheat toast. Everything was prepared properly and tasted very good. Disgusting. This (the meat is supposed to be steak) and coffee cost $11. They don't accept cards and I could hear the staff making sexual innuendos about masks. The eggs were fine. This has become our new Sunday breakfast spot. I was hesitant to write this for fear that people would flock to this hole-in-the-wall eatery. My wife and I fell in love with our first visit. It's a tiny cozy place to get home grown delicious breakfast for a decent price. We love going out for breakfast and trying everyone Eggs Benedict. Poppys benedict didnt disappoint. I also like sweet with savory at every meal so I opt for the specials which usually include eggs, pancakes and breakfast meat. This place is by far my favorite breakfast for fact that we can both get the most expensive item and be less than $20 total I including coffee! read more

Can't believe we just found this place after living on the Shoreline for 4 years! Very friendly family that greets you as soon as you walk through the door, making you feel very welcome. Prices are excellent - cash only but there is an ATM right inside. Excellent food and portion sizes that aren't exorbitant, I was actually able to finish my entire meal. This place should be closed for sat at dirty table I asked for it to be washed and she said I did with coffee stain and ketchup and egg on table you are a blind waitress. I then used to have several elderly friend who used to get charged more then the menu and the owner said we changed our prices to them but me at about 60 years old get charged what the menu says and I am not the first review about this. I then heard the cooks talking really dirty and sexual. Stay far very far away from this place and go to the much better Hidden Kitchen right up the road two minutes and that chef is CIA trained there and not rude when I asked about charging elderly people more and said I heard your dirty conversations with your employees thanks my business is going to other local breakfast spots and I'll spread the word everywhere about this crooked thing read more

While in Connecticut for a softball tournament at a nearby complex my boyfriend and I stumbled upon Poppy's. We pleasantly surprised to find out there wasn't a crazy wait to get a table. The second we walked in and we were greeted by Poppy himself and the kind waitresses. Our drink orders were taken immediately and our food shortly after that. Within 5 minutes our food, (eggs Benedict and two eggs over easy with bacon, hash browns and toast) was on the table and still burning hot! Everything was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was so friendly and made us feel so comfortable. Poppy seemed like someone I would want to be best friends with. Stopped here for breakfast. Wasn't greeted. That's ok. Sat ourselves at a dirty table. Still ok. A woman cleaned off the table and brought us coffees. Waited for menus. Finally ordered breakfast. Asparagus omelet and a Western omelet. Both with bacon on the side. Waitress lost our order. Not ok. So a rush was put on to get our food out. I guess that's why my egg wasn't cooked. Sooo not ok. Not sure but quite possibly the worst breakfast I've ever had. Had to get up and ask for forks. (Asked once already) Forgot our bacon, so we got it deep fried. The owners are wonderful people who really are serious about giving you a great dining experience in a totally relaxed environment. Everything is cooked to order. If you need a place for a fast, modestly priced, home style breakfast in NoBra, Poppy's hits the bid. Decor and vibe is circa Aunt Bea's back in 1956. If you ever ate at a Woolworth's lunch counter, you'll feel a little nostalgic. Service could not be nicer. You actually feel like you know the people and they are super accommodating of kids. There really is a Poppy and he makes a mean chocolate milk. Menu is standard breakfast fare: bacon and eggs, pancakes, French toast, coffee. Poached eggs over cb hash was good, as were M&M pancakes. Bacon, egg and cheese on a hard roll is solid. There is a lunch menu but haven't tried it. Would give 3.5 *'s if possible. read more

I *love* Poppy's Restaurant. I've only been several times, but each time has been an absolute delight. The employees are so warm and welcoming, and the food always hits the spot. It's also hard to go wrong with bottomless coffee - which is a great deal in and of itself - but combined with the great breakfast options it's hard to imagine why anyone would go elsewhere for a great breakfast. They have something to satisfy any craving you may have in the morning - from pancakes to omelets, with lots of variety in between.
