It was a Sunday morning, so we grateful to be seated immediately! Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. I always try the eggs Benedict if the place offers it- they did! It was good, but did not have the proper sauce on top, as well as having shredded cheese on top. Wasn't bad by any means but was not hollandaise sauce on top. Plenty of options on their breakfast menu from pancakes to omelettes. I had the egg white omelette with spinach, tomatoes, onions, and mushrooms. My omelette came with a side of home fries and gluten-free toast with butter. The omelette was a bit bland tasting in my opinion and my home fries were dry with little flavor. The coffee was very mild tasting. Our waitress was super sweet and very attentive. She was pleasant, got our order correct, and brought our check in a timely manner. She's a keeper! I gave this place a try due to the fact a nearby restaurant was a bit too busy. I came in close to closing time (about an hour before closing). My waitress was very kind and welcoming. There were only two other groups in the restaurant when I came in. A small family and a couple who appeared to be regulars. The restaurant is decorated a bit old fashioned (lace table cloths) and a few modern elements mixed in. I was excited to see that they offered crepes on their menu. I had the smoked salmon crepe and the cappuccino. Both were okay, but the crepe was on the dry side and was falling apart. For the price I expected a little more. I ordered the Thick French toast.Both meals were delicious and my friends love the home fries. The restaurant was clean and we never had to ask for more coffee. Stopped for breakfast after a medical procedure on the way home. Very basic breakfast and at home feel inside. They give you so much food for your money. This meal is called The Heifer on the menu. These pictures are all the food for one person. You get eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, a pancake or french toast. The waitress Miriam was very nice and very helpful with picking menu items. BEWARE The prices on menu and online are 30% cheaper than what you will be charged. When asked the owner he told me that they cant reprint the menu everytime changes prices and referred me to a handwritten note in the dining room that you will not see. If you don't want to reprint the menu then put that sign in each menu. I am totally fine with people changing prices but customers should know how much things cost before they order. At least change the menu prices online. Came in around 815am food is average, same country song played entire time on repeat. I was so excited to come here for breakfast. Their menu online looked great. I ordered the homemade hash with 2 poached eggs. My husband ordered an omelette with bacon, tomatoes and american cheese. When the waitress gave us our food she also dropped the check that was odd. I cut into my egg and it was raw. Slimy and the whites were clear, def not cooked. I pushed that one to the side and atleast the other one was more done. Underneath was the hash which was like 2 fork fulls and was more like ground beef than hash. It had uncooked onions and was the strangest hash Ive ever had in my life. My husbands omelette had literally raw bacon. Who the heck would put that in an omelette and think thats ok? Not to mention the homefries that tasted like they were made last week. The food was horrible, the waitress was not friendly and was more worried about rolling silverware to get out of there instead of worrying about how our food was. I will NEVER go back to this place. Everything about this place is great! I come to Sam's once a week with my grandmother and could not ask for a better experience. The food is always great and comes out quickly. Their hash is the best I have ever tried. I've had almost everything on the menu and never had a bad meal or a complaint. Our waitress, Nancy, is always very friendly and great at her job! She always gets our order correct and is very knowledgeable about what they have on the menu. She is great and one of the many reasons we keep coming back! Sam's is always very clean and inviting! I thought that I already wrote a review so if this is a duplicate, please excuse the replication. Anyway, I had breakfast there a couple of weeks ago and it was undoubtedly the most perfect corned beef hash that I've ever had. Let's face it, most breakfast 'jernts' make good bacon (or ham) and egg and most sausage and eggs are OK as well, but corned beef hash is always a bit of a wild card. Fortunately, we don't find the 'Alpo-tasting' canned corned beef hash anymore (although I'd still be wary!). All but Fido and Queenie should be happy to hear that. However, all too often the 'fresh' corned beef hash is too salty or even more commonly (and worse) has too much of the 'spice packet' flavor which overwhelms any accompaniment, especially eggs. Then there is the cheapo chef who hardly has any beef and all potato and filler. This place has it just right. Tasty, meaty with a perfect ratio of the main ingredients, and just a great egg breakfast. As for the atmosphere, it's a nicely decorated, clean, homey place. Plenty of light, ample choice of table or counter seating, pleasant and speedy service, and easy to get to w. plenty of parking (at least during a weekday morning). One final thing, it's not too noisy either as I don't recall there being any annoying, all too omnipresent background 'music' which just annoys the hell out of me -- especially when I'm trying to get some work done over breakfast. I fail to understand why food establishments insist on irritating piped-in music 24-7. I'm there to eat, not dance! read more

Great breakfast Place in North Haven. We both ordered house made Hash which was delicious. The eggs were perfectly cooked and the hash browns were crispy and tasty. It took less than five minutes to get our food which was amazing. Our server, Nancy was really nice and fun. She was efficient and did a great job. I'd def ask for her again. I have consistently gotten undercooked breakfast meats from them, when it is actually cooked the quality of the meat is so bad that i end up not eating it. (Like those really hard bits inside of sausages? Yeah this place serves stuff like that) They have a monopoly on serving breakfast to amazon building bdl3, but their food is terrible. Eating out of the vending machines is preferrable to their food which is double the price. Eggs taste like some weird oil and visually look wrong, breakfast meats better off skipping a step and throwing directly into the toilet, potatoes still crunchy. Please stop serving dogfood at bdl3. I was never impressed with the Breakfast Connection that was in the same location earlier. So I was excited when a new place opened, well after visiting, I kinda miss the Breakfast Connection... My wife and I went in this past Sunday for breakfast. We sat down at a dirty table that ended up never being properly cleaned. We did it ourselves with baby wipes. We were handed menus and then our, the sole waitress in the place, did not come back for 15 min. She seemed busy, but it was a mild annoyance. There were 3 people in the kitchen, 1 busy boy, 1 counter person who constantly seemed to be entering tickets even when no one was there, and a manager type person, maybe the owner who wasn't doing much of anything, not sure but there was plenty of staff in the building. After 15 min went by we placed our drink and breakfast order. The coffee and OJ came quickly but there was never any silverware or napkins on the table. We had to wait another 10 min for her to come back to bring silverware to stir coffee. About 30 min after we placed our order the manager type person brought food to the table. It was the wrong food. No apologies for the wait or being brought the wrong food. Finally 45 min after we first ordered our food arrived. That is when we got to order another round of drinks. The "house made" corned beef hash was a small portion and was ok, I probably would have preferred a canned option. My over easy eggs were cold and over-hard. My well done home fries were not well done and there was a very small portion on the plate. My wife ordered steak, egg, and cheese on a hard roll and she had no complaints. I also ordered a short stack of blueberry pancakes. When I poured the syrup it was congealed and came out on globs. Even with syrup, butter, and blueberries in the pancakes, they were absolutely bland and tasteless. I am glad they didn't/forgot to charge us for them. Slow and poor service, with bland, forgettable food. A 45 min wait for breakfast is unrealistic at a breakfast place with 10 tables. We will not be returning. read more

This place is a hidden gem! It is so much less noisy than other places in town and it really has the "mom n pop" feel. My family typically used to frequent this location for takeout. While waiting for our order one morning recently, I noticed a cup with a sign saying something along the lines of "To go tips go in here" and asked the server more about it. I was informed that the owner Sam takes all of the servers tips they make on any take out order. And goes as far as to review cameras and make them return money if they are seen taking their own tips. Just a heads up fellow patrons, this is COMPLETELY illegal in CT and is known as wage theft. Needless to say, with the world the way it is, and servers especially, making near pennies, we will not be returning here to have our money go in the owners pockets for work the servers have done. This is one of the biggest problems in restaurants and we can only hope the Department of Labor steps their game up in catching thieves like this. Very disturbing. I gave this place a few tries (because I enjoy trying new establishments). I have concluded that this restaurant is lousy. It is one thing to pay for really good food and service, but here the menu is overpriced and the taste of many things are bland - just no flavor. The atmosphere is nice, but the servers are terrible! I was there with family on Mother's Day and we had a rude waitress. One of the customers who sat near us got so upset and angry with her snippy remarks and attitude that she got up and yelled at her and the owner in front of everybody!! Not a good thing for business!! I went back just recently and that same waitress is there which doesn't make sense to me. Why would you want to keep an employee who is rude and mean to customers??? What a way to run a business!!! There doesn't seem to be any business sense or ethical or moral standards. My prediction is that this restaurant won't last with an expensive menu, below average food and bad wait staff. My advice is to stay away, because you will end up wishing you had. I learned that too late, but I like to give things a chance. There are better places in the surrounding area to have breakfast or lunch at. Meaning better food, better prices and better service. I'll see those places in the future but not this one, that is for sure! (Note to the owner: You should rethink your business practices starting with who you choose to keep as servers that are front line. I had the opportunity to try this new restaurant this past weekend and let me say it did not disappoint! The atmosphere was very sweet and unique. Tables were well spaced and very clean. The menu had plenty of classics with an extra flair. I had the mimis homemade hash which was to die for!!! Super fresh, not greasy and an ample amount to fill you up. We also tried the peanut butter bacon pancakes which were a delicious twist in a breakfast favorite. Even the homemade snicker doodles were a perfect finisher. How's the food? No idea as we waited at a table for an extended period of time and were never acknowledged. Went there this morning to give it a try, walked in and waited to be seated. Stood there for several minutes without anyone acknowledging us. My girlfriend noticed a sign that said "seat yourself", so we went outside and sat at a table and waited for the waitress. Would have been nice if we were at least acknowledged, and someone said "seat yourself, we will be with you shortly. We waited for over twenty minutes and started to get frustrated when a waitress finally came out, walked by us, and asked another table, who were already eating, if everything was ok and then walked back by us and went back inside without even a look. We were obviously not happy, and the family sitting next to us said that two other couples had sat, waited, and left out of frustration for the same reason. They also said they were waiting over thirty minutes and had to go in and tell someone to come out in order to be served. So, we left and went to the Athena diner up the street and had a waitress and coffee within five minutes. This place may (or may not) have great food, but they need to get the staff dialed in and at least acknowledge customers, as it is now I will not be returning. read more

We typically love coming for breakfast at Sam's we love the food and used to always love our service from Fawn. Last weekend and today we have had a new lady I think her name is Debbie or Donna and she gives us nothing close to the service that we are used to getting when we come in here and one of the many reasons we come here! Shes not friendly and her phone seemed to be more of a priority last weekend.. As much as we enjoy the food here we enjoy the friendly company and conversations and interaction we get from Fawn.
