I was assigned to them by American Home Shield to have them come and repair my garbage disposal. It was making a noise like a freight train so loud it hurt my ears. The person there would not call me, he just wanted to text. I finally got an appointment, which I could not be there and had left a key. They came on Friday but never called or anything. I had to call them, again only text. The man said that it was unjammed and was working fine. I went there the next day in person and when I turned it on, there was no change, it was not working and was loud as ever. They also left a box of work towels on the counter. I called them back, but again nothing but text. I told the man that there was no change in its operation and was very loud and not spinning. Then he said that he told AHS that it was making making noise but there was no mechanical failure so they would not replace it and said I had to purchase a new one. I told him his diagnosis was wrong and he argued with me and cussed me out using th F' word. I had a new disposal and just wanted to get it over with but now I could not get him to come back out. I have never experienced such an unprofessional in my life! Disposals can only get jammed or throw the breaker. Anything else has to be mechanical failure. There is a hole in the bottom for an allen wrench to unjam or a button which is a circuit breaker. If the thing is locked up and has no jam but sounds like a freight train, then it is mechanical failure. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE! NO COMMUNICATION! IDIOTS! WARNING BEWARE! read more

Being so pleased with the work performed on my previous minor repair, I called Arnold again about a problem that I had with a half bathroom that was added on by the previous owner of my house. Being part of an add on, there was no sewer pipe to service the bathroom, so, as they typically do, a sump pump was installed with a tank in the ground. When the tank gets 10 or 15 gallons in it, the pump engages and moves the sewage to a place where there is a line. Problem was that they chose a bad place and it caused backup into my house. So, we just didn't use that bathroom. Now that I'm selling my house, I have to make it right so it doesn't get in the way of a smooth sale. Anyway, I talked to Arnold about this and we thought of several things to try. Rerouting the line or putting check valves in place to stop the back flow. I decided that I preferred to reroute the line through the yard, under the driveway, and to the sewer main itself. That way, it would be separate and have no chance of being that kind of problem again. Of course, that was the more expensive job by far, but I felt best about it. We set a date and Arnold and his crew came out and completed the job quickly... just a couple of days. Did a great job and repaired the driveway so that it looks very good too. When they were done, though, I asked him to change something that we had not talked about, and he did it without hesitation, and stuck to his original estimate. The pump is much happier too. Instead of running for about 15 seconds each time, to pump the water up into the attic and to a vent (problem), it now runs only 5 seconds each time. And now, there is NO NOISE in my house from the pump or the water running through the pipes in the wall and attic. Because the pipes not only carried the water back into the house, but the sound too. So, I guess that stays out in the yard too. I have never been happier with a contractor than I am with A DeaL Plumbing. If you need any kind of plumbing work, this is the best place to get it. (no fee estimate) =) He was able to explain the problems and steps to fix everything easily. Like everyone's saying, Arnold is great. I found him via Yelp around dinnertime last night - my mom's kitchen faucet handle came off and the fixture was spewing hot water straight up like a crazed fire hydrant - NOT the time you want to be looking for a plumber! She'd called another service but they had too many emergencies going, so I tried one nearby and got a machine. Since it was after 5 I thought for sure it would be super expensive, but I noticed the business hours for "A Deal" were 8 to 8 so I called them and Arnold arrived shortly. He got the problem under control within a couple of minutes, replaced the broken parts and simplified the screwy valve setup, and it was so much cheaper than I expected. I bought a new kitchen faucet to replace the one that had been failing due to hard water issues and the leaky front hose bib needed replacing. This is my moms house so, I wanted to get this done soon. I called Arnold to get a quote and he said that he could stop by and take a look what needs to be done and give me a quote then. Great! He then sends me a text and asks if I could take pics of the hose bib, the connections under the sink and the new faucet. I did and he gave me a quote, which was very reasonable, and said he could do it that day. It was already 5:00pm, but he and his son came over right away and installed the faucet and hose bib. These guys were great to work with. The handle that turns my shower on and off, and controls hot and cold, was leaking. Where I live they gouge us for water, so every drip looked like a dollar bill to me. I called and got an estimate, and appreciated being given both the best-case and worst-case scenario. (Luckily, mine was best-case - but it was nice to be prepared.) Anthony was very conscientious about wearing shoe covers and cleaning debris that sprayed into my shower stall when he replaced the cartridge. Their prices are reasonable, too. Arnold had come out a month and a half ago to quote us on getting a store bought water softener and loop installed. I had another plumber out to quote me a few days earlier but didn't seem quite as knowledgeable and was only comfortable with adding the loop, so he wouldn't do the full install. I had to wait for our tax return to come in, so it was good the quote didn't have a 30 day time limit on it. There was also a little added demolition work that had to be added on, but he didn't deviate from the original quote. Also we took advantage of the yelp voucher to get a little extra savings. He called before he was on his way and was out with 4 guys, one being his son. Everyone was very professional and the job didn't take nearly as long as I had expected. All the work was exceptionally done and I feel good about the quality of work. He also made sure to clean everything up and do a leak check before leaving. If a contractor misses an appt. - twice - then I refuse to do business with them. This looks especially bad after two calls on 2 different occasions. The first missed appointment I gave him the benefit of the doubt. The second one is a strike out. Making an appointment after agreeing to meet would be expected of any business. Plumbing is a business you do not want to wait to get done. If for some reason you can not make the appointment have the common courtesy to call. At least a quick call/message of "Hey Joe, this is Jim-bob. I'm really busy swamped over here - so you might want to try to call someone else if this is an emergency. OK, Thanks. About 9:00 last night I notice water marks on the inside of a closet wall, and upon heading up to the attic I verify the almost 20 year old hot water heater leaking a slow drip that had rusted through the pan, time to replace it and the next morning at 7:30 I start calling Yelp 5 star plumbers. The first one had someone answering his phone who said he wouldn't do estimates over the phone; she was just scheduling appointments the earliest of which was later that afternoon. At the risk of sounding arrogant, I'll just say that I live in a pretty nice house in a pretty nice neighborhood, and prefer to get ball park figures via the phone because I can't stand it when people "price to the neighborhood" and I have to send them packing and get another person out for a quote. Since this was kind of urgent, I passed on the quote as I didn't have time to get multiple people out with this issue. Next I called Arnold who answered his own phone, a good start. He said he needed to get more info to give an estimate 1) What size water heater 2) Gas or electric 3) location (which was in the attic of a 2 story house). From that he told me it would be $1060 for the heater, replacement parts and install labor, because he would need extra help to get old one out and the new one up the stairs and in to the attic (made sense). Having paid just short of that in the past from a big box store - for a water heater plus installation in an easy access area this seemed reasonable. He qualified it and said he could not guarantee that price until he took a look at the exact location and situation, but would let me know once he got there. Fair enough, I get that and appreciate people being up front. He said he could be out by about 1:00, at 12:40 he called me and said he would be there in 20 minutes. He took a look at the old heater and location - and said it would be the same price he said on the phone (how about that - no neighborhood upsell price). By about 4:45 they had the old one out and the new one in, the work all appears to be of good quality. And one more thing, the guy is pretty considerate and respectful of your home. They wore covers over their work boots so as not to get the floor dirty, he used old blankets to put the old water heater on when they pulled it out so as not to scratch the wood floors. They cleaned up everything when they we're done. Literally the cleaning lady had been there that morning and when my wife came home from work she could not tell anyone had been up in the attic from insulation, dust or other debris left around hall or stairway. read more

BEST PLUMBING SERVICE IN AUSTIN!!!!!! I called A DeaL after a large alphabetical acronym service company cancelled my plumbing appointment about halfway through my 4 hour window. The time was ~6:30pm, it was the college football national championship game night, and day 4 of us knowing we had a significant leak (we made then other appointment 3 days prior) needless to say I needed help. Arnold (the owner) answered, heard my request, said he could be here in 20 minutes. Once he arrived he assessed the situation, gave me a quote and starting working. He had also called his sons (who work for him) to assist, they arrived after about 10 mins. They worked together quickly, found the source of the leak (a cheap fix on our main line before we bought the hiuse), fixed it, cleaned up, and knocked $200 off the price Arnold had originally given me, all in under 2 hours. I was trying to find a plumber that was open on Saturday to come work on our hot water heater. I tried to fix it but when the new themocouple that I put in didn't work, I figured that unfortunately I was going to have to buy a new one. Based on the yelp reviews, I called A DeaL Plumbing. Arnold came out promptly (he was finishing up another job), and inspected the water heater. It turns out that the thermocouple was not fully seated. He corrected the problem and the pilot light started working again.
