One of the worst restaurants I have ever been to....would give a zero if that was an option. First of all the food is terrible, from the rice being hard and the food being cold and late. I recently went on a Friday and we had a great time! Although I do recommend placing a reservation if you will be dining in after 6pm. Service was great, she was attentive throughout our experience! Wasn't great...not nearly as bad as some people make it out to be. If you've ever been to a Mexican chain restaurant in Panama City or Mexico, this is similar. Great experience!! Just went Sunday. Our server Maria was awesome!! She asked if we had been there before. I said no, it's my boyfriend's birthday. I wanted to get him the fishbowl drink. Since we weren't sure the flavor she brought him a shot of all three to try. That was very nice customer service! Food and drinks were Great! Maria then brought a complimentary fried ice cream. As you walk in they have a sign that says to seat ourselves. However, no one came to take my order for a long time until I flagged someone. Once I got tla server she was very attentive. Ordered the Carnitas Platter. The description on the menu said it was supposed to come with plantains. The actual dish didn't have any. Wow is this a restaurant or a place built on discrimination? My friend and I attempted to enter this evening with small purses, security (short stocky guy) bee lines for my friend and I to check our purses, which would be cool and all if they didn't just pass the two white girls in front of us with huge purses. So you only need to check purses belonging to people of color? The girl in front of me clearly had a purse big enough to hide a few weapons. When I asked what about the girls in front? The rice obviously had been sitting out a day (it had dried out and formed these impenetrable balls). Because I ordered a fishbowl and when I was done a while later i wanted to order a vodka with redbull and the server told me Oh the vodka and redbull is very expensive it's 16.99 with an attitude which I thought was rude of her. She was fantastic and thats the reason the review has one star. The bouncers are awful, the place is dirty, the bathroom stalls dont close. Its hard to squat and hold the door when you have had 3 beers. The annoying part are the bouncers. They made us take our hats off. The place is cold and that hat is part of my outfit. Boy did I feel my age in this joint. My friend's 22 year old daughter recommended Adobe Gilas to us for dinner. Always up for something new (we're not quite THAT old), and fans of Mexican food, we gave it a shot. We walked in and realized that someone wished upon a star for a Mexican Hooters, and his dream came true in Adobe Gilas. First of all, it is much more bar-like than restaurant-like. They have a billion kinds of tequila, their alcoholic drinks come with Crazy Straws, and one of them came in some sort of bikini souvenir glass. "Souvenir glass" is definitely something we left behind in the 90's. Sanka, anyone? Wow, maybe we are *that old*. The waitresses wear a Hooters-like uniform of shorts and tank tops, but unlike Hooters they don't have to wear pantyhose, and I am sure they are grateful for that. My old bag self was cold and kept my jacket on. We had an absolute sweetheart of a server...and I am happy to report that she was not sporting a bumpit (unlike others). We were interested in their tableside guacamole and put that order in while we decided on our entrees. So the guacamole guy came over to do his thing...it is ridiculous how cute he is. I almost asked him if he is in One Direction. He made us some awesome guacamole. I think I'd like to adopt him. Pass me my reading glasses so I can fill out the forms. I ordered a Cuban pork French dip sandwich and my friend got steak enchiladas. The food came out maybe a little too quickly (we were still working on the guac) but it wasn't a huge problem. My friend loved her enchiladas, and my sandwich was fabulous. The fries that came with it were a bit bland, but they weren't bad. I could really go for another one of those sandwiches right now. I don't know why this is labeled as "Mexican", it's not authentic at all. Comparable to Taco Bell. Adobe is too noisy and ghetto. The bouncers or security pick and choose who can come inside. There's a dress code, yet it is still trashy! No white tees, baseball hats, tank tops, etc. The line is usually real long to get in after 10pm. Adobe is always too crowded.. Takes forever to order a drink. The bartenders seem overwhelmed and/or do NOT know what they are doing. The drinks are way over priced with very little alcohol in them... Adobe Gilas is my least favorite bar at Rosemont's The Park. And there's average 3-4 fights every time I've gone. Too many douche bags; no thanks!!! The only positive thing I can write; summer time evenings are decent, with live music outside. This joint has opened windows to watch the band while drinking. I wish no stars were possible. My boyfriend and I came here for a quick bite before our movie. We were cutting it short on time, so we were ready to deal with those consequences. Thankfully the 1 star is all on them! We came and got seated in that heated patio area. It took our server a minute (too long) to get there to ask us what we would like to drink. The signs said they have 30 beers on tap, I believe, and when asked what they carry she sighed a sign of annoyance and grabbed a drink menu. (Not even close to 30 beers)- which isn't an issue, but it added to the over all annoyance of the whole experience by the end. We asked her to put in our food order first in that case while we deliberated our beverage. Chicken and pepper-jack quesedilla with a side of pic-de-gallo, lettuce and sour cream for me, and a chicken sandwich for him. She went to put in the order and just didn't come back. I guess the friends she invited that were there for their discount were more important. She didn't even bring any water. Fiiiinally, she remembered she had a table and came back to see if we needed anything. We ordered a beer each that was new. I ordered some IPA, and he took a Belgian. The beer and food came pretty much at the same time. She handed us the beer, the runner handed us the food and she was gone, not to be seen until we had our bill to pay. Also, not a fork to be found. The "meal" was heartbreaking. Last time I checked, pico-de-gallo is more than chopped tomatoes!!! Also a quesedilla should probably not only be filled in the very little tip. It's ridiculous. The chicken sandwich apparently wasn't too great either, because the sauce wasn't Mexican style but curry based....... hm??? And finally, if you are going to try and be a pretentious bar/restaurant and compete with downtown, clean your taps. I guarantee they have not been cleaned since opening! My husband and I came to grab some dinner (and margaritas?) after a Wolves game and got DENIED entry because of what we were wearing (he was in sweatpants, we had on t-shirts and hoodies, hats, etc.). I mean, I understand having a dress code at a certain point, I GUESS, but when I walk into a restaurant for dinner at 9:02, and I look into the bar area and see nothing but people dressed down (and eating the guacamole that should be in MY MOUTH), yet still get denied? No. This place officially has the infamous Nichole shun. Unfortunately, there just aren't too many good things I can say about Adobe Gilas... well, maybe one thing. The location is good. Its centered at the new Park at Rosemont, overlooking the ice skating rink (which I think they turn into a soccer field in the summer?) and the new Hofbrauhaus. It is located on the second floor, above Toby Keith's. The restaurant consists of a bar area and all high-top tables (from what I could see.) Some of the chairs had very small "backs" while others were just stools. Not very comfortable to sit in. The menu seems... confused. Yes, they have "Mexican" fare, but they also have burgers, chicken sandwiches, and buffalo wings. I wasn't really sure what to make of it. We ordered the table-side guacamole, which was actually pretty tasty. It was not served with enough chips though. (Also, what type of Mexican restaurant doesn't have complimentary chips and salsa on the table?) I ordered the steak tacos, which on the menu boasted either corn or flour tortillas, avocado cream, cheese, and cabbage slaw, and pico. A few items of note: 1. The server did not ask if I (or anyone else) wanted corn or flour tortillas. She asked one of the four of us if we'd like a side of guacamole with our tacos, but not the other three. I was pretty much stunned when the entrees arrived. Three very flat, barely full, flour tortillas, lifelessly thrown into a basked with a scoop of rice and beans (mixed together, not separate.) Like I said, the tacos were pretty slim. Maybe a 1/2 ounce of meat? No avocado cream. Lettuce, not slaw, and I couldn't tell if there was cheese, or if the tortilla was just gummy. Basically no taste whatsoever. In a nutshell, Adobe Gilas is sub-par institutional food. It wouldn't even be blasphemous to say you can get better tacos at Taco Bell. read more

Remember when this area only housed Muvico? I come back a year later and there are these crazy looking bars everywhere. Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill?! Where am I? Anyway, I wanted to watch a movie, but we ended up having an hour to kill, so, we had to pick a place to sit outside and get a drink. The Irish pub? The German Hofbrauhaus? No, and no, and definitely not anything to do with Toby Keith. The clear winner was the place where lizards like to drink margaritas. One of the nice things about Adobe Gilas is that their patio is on the second floor, and overlooks the big green patch that used to be an ice rink (and also the highway). Oh, Rosemont. But, it was beautiful out, and one of the few days of the year that I will actually voluntarily sit outside for a drink, so J had to take advantage. The drinks menu isn't organized too well, and can be a bit confusing. There are drinks you can order where you get to keep the girl in a bikini glass. There are giant margaritas with 2 Coronas stuck in them. I opted for the 14oz. frozen strawberry margarita, which was perfect for the day. J's regular margarita on the rocks was no good though. Also, the chips and salsa needs to come with more chips. Always more chips. I had an enjoyable time. Service was friendly. People were yelling at the TV (Bulls game). The sun was shining. The temperature wasn't too hot. I can only imagine what this place becomes at night - I was there on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty quiet. read more

From the moment I walked in, I started to second guess my decision to eat at Adobe Gila's. Yep. I should have trusted the reviews that were already on Yelp. When it comes to food, drinks (other than bottled beer), and even the waitress' uniforms (???) - This place could not have it more wrong. I came during "Happy Hour" which runs 4-8 M-F, and offers $1.50 tacos and a self - serve chips/salsa stand. Cute idea, but the chips were stale, and the stand itself was a mess. Unfortunately we had to sit inside due to the 95 degree weather, though it might be a much better experience on the patio. We also ordered guacamole, which our waitress said was "Freshly made" - More like out of a jar, one of the worst I've had at a restaurant. We both had the $1.50 tacos, which was a huge mistake, although I shouldn't have expected much. My friend also had a margarita, which she said was watered down and tasted cheap. The only redeeming quality of this place is the service, our waitress regularly came back to ask if we needed anything, and was very apologetic when i sent back my beef tacos and ordered a burger (which was decent, and on the house as well) All in all, I wouldn't give this place my business again. I visited this place after a hockey game on a Sunday night around 5pm. Surprised when we entered that it was so dead. Our waitress came over promptly. As she was taking our order, she notified us that no draft beer was available. Somewhat shocking, so I ordered a bottle, which she immediately said they were out of. SPRING BREAK!!! WOOOOOOO!!! Okay, nobody was actually yelling that - but you could have filmed a Friday-night scene from this place and slipped it in with the MTV Spring Break footage and you'd barely know the difference. From the drinks served in plastic cups and the denim cutoffs-clad staff to the oh-so-dirty dancing that was taking place seemingly anywhere - this place screamed barely legal co-ed party. This was the kind of place my early-2000's self would have gone crazy for - loud music, strong drinks, and a party-all-night kind of energy. That's not to say that I didn't enjoy myself - the pretension-free vibe made me want to check my inhibitions at the door and just let loose, which was actually really refreshing! I just wasn't sure how well I...fit in. First off, I'd be willing to bet that the average Adobe patron has just recently gotten the 'Under 21' flag removed from their ID. Secondly -- I felt over-dressed in, well, jeans. Misfit-feelings aside, Adobe did provide the perfect (albeit not conducive to conversation) soundtrack for dancing the night away. Oh, and if you're looking for the cool kids - they're skin-to-skin on the tiny dance stage, maximizing their dirty-dancing potential. Bottom Line: As one of the establishments in Rosemont's came-out-of-nowhere 'Entertainment District' that doesn't charge cover - it's worth a gander if you're looking to drink and dance (and your fancy party dress is at the cleaners). Avoid ending up in a trailer park (literally) and pop the Muvico address into your GPS instead. read more

High hopes shattered by arrogance and ridiculous limitations. Celebrating a good friend's birthday, we first had dinner around the corner. We are a bit of a festive bunch that enjoy getting our 'sweat on', so of course our hopes were high that we'd be able to enjoy the rest of the night dancing. Dinner was a bit early and so we were a bit early for the 'shift' in atmosphere for this place as well. That didn't stop us as we made our way through the somewhat crowded dinner to the back where we waited for the beats to start dropping. 10pm rolls around and the DJ is ready to go. By now my group of friends is already a sweaty mess, but we weren't ready to stop, nor were we drunk or rowdy; mostly because their drinks are expensive and watered down. The Music started up and my group of friends (mostly girls) hopped up on stage and started their groove thang. I had a slight feeling this was one of the places that restricts guests on stage, and of course a few seconds into having fun with my friends here comes 'security' asking me to get down. Bummed and a little embarrassed, my dancing didn't stop as I just continued on the floor... alone, as my friends continued to dance on stage. More people joined in the stage was getting full and people were having fun. Things began to heat up, of course I'm a sweaty mess and my only option at the time was to remove my first layer which revealed my tanktop underneath. I turned to the birthday girl who convinced me to take it off... "This isnt' a good idea, I guarantee they tell me to put it back on". Within seconds the bouncers were back tell me I had to put my shirt back on... I looked at my friend, she looked at me... "For real" she exclaimed... "it's not like you were naked or anything". Not being one who likes confrontation, I followed the rules.. but after getting in trouble the stage cleared out, and not just by my group of friends; but by everyone. They were able to squash the fun completely by two simple rules that quite honestly make no sense, and are a bit immature and unfair. Just before leaving, I asked to speak to management, to better understand the rules they had imposed. I was directed to Scott Kwiatkoski and asked 'What did I do to warrant being removed from the stage?" Mr Kwiatkoski replies: "We just don't like men on stage. We've found that it causes problems." "Err; so because once upon a time your company witness troublesome guys on stage, you've castrated all men who walk in the the club, limiting what they are allowed to do?" "It's just our policy, there isn't anything I can do about it" Mr Kwiatkoski replied. "OK; what about my shirt, I didn't see anything that said there was a dress code..." "I'm sorry, yeah, there is a plaque at the front door you must have missed that states we won't allow tank tops." he says. I wasn't really expecting much from them considering I'm one of many who have dealt with this, but I still felt cheated and bit disrespected. So. My advice to anyone looking to enjoy themselves and not be judged because of your gender, find somewhere else to party it up. I won't be recommending this place to anyone. read more
