This place, for food alone, would elicit disappointment, and 2 stars.. but this place, with the atmosphere of clubby fun on an early Sunday evening - gets 4! Because it's not trying to be an authentico restaurant. It's so much more! The salsa was good, and the food was fairly filling, and there was DANCING, and the service was good (considering how packed they already were!) The DJ mixed a LOT of songs, including "Sweet Child of Mine" - and he did a good job of mixing it up. Would I want to even attempt going here on a Fri or Sat night? No way Jose! But why does this place have 2 stars? You guys don't realize you're not just paying for the food and drinks, but also for the fun? My husband loved his margarita, enjoyed the salsas, and was not impressed by the fajitas. I enjoyed the salsas, found the fajitas fine for a clubby place out in Rosemont, and didn't care for the margaritas (but, since I love dancing, and everyone was really nice to me) I didn't care that I didn't care for them :) Just know what you're getting into: A club that is also a restaurant. A lady at a table near us was probably at least 20 years our senior, was drunk - and having a blast. Some ppl from the Hawaiian pub crawl meandered in and were trying to find fun after an apparently mismanaged event. Other than that, there were just many different groups of ppl out to enjoy their Sunday holiday - and from what I saw, most did. I know I did! I really loved this place, it reminded me of being in my early 20's in Texas again, including some not-great-tex-mex ;D Just get your dance on! And snack a bit! The service is abysmal and the decor is tacky. I wouldn't come back here again and would advise against trying this place. The server didn't write down my fajita order so it came out wrong and had to be sent back. Unfortunately, she left the plate of rice/beans/cheese/sour cream at the table for the next 20 minutes until the fajita order was fixed. We had to ask for everything that you'd think would be standard protocol for a restaurant (i.e. knives, soda refills, tortillas that come with the fajitas, etc.). Overall, the service was terrible and the restaurant was empty. We watched our server stand around by the kitchen and hardly come to our table. Finally, the bathrooms were out of hand soap. I noticed one of the kitchen crew members use the stall and immediately leave the bathroom without washing his hands. Very unsanitary and disgusting. I'm not so much for bars but sometimes my friends convince me to stop by here because its close to my house.. Oh man, FISH BOWLS ARE DEADLY. There is absolutely no need to get a fish bowl to yourself unless you want to crawl home. It has PLENTY of alcohol and is put in an actual fish bowl. You can definitely share it with a friend or two. The place is on the second floor and looks over the Rosemont green field which is nice but I definitely was not a fan of having to pay cover for this place. Went here for a friend's birthday on a very busy Friday night. Had a little trouble finding the entrance to it -- turns out there was a waiting line a half mile long just to get in the joint! We blew right past it thinking the line was for another bar/restaurant next door. Luckily we stumbled upon an unassuming entrance around the corner that apparently no one else seemed to know about. Walked right in. Score! Adobe Gilas is essentially as advertised. A loud, cantina themed establishment with blaring music and people who have no problem stepping over (or on) you to squeeze in to get a place at the bar. Not exactly a place conducive for intimate conversation, like on a first date or catching up with an old friend. It is LOUD and CROWDED. Period. We managed to get a table after waiting around for quite a while. We weren't seated, we just grabbed the next available table that the busboy had barely started cleaning. Our server was fantastic; she was highly attentive and informative of the menu/specials. She also happened to be an old customer of mine at MY work, so that made things fun right off the bat! She took great care of us. The food and drinks were enjoyable, but nothing so out of the ordinary as to make me want to return again and again. I give the Village of Rosemont major props for investing a lot of time and money into really refurbishing their nightlife scene. The Muvico next door is a huge draw, as is the new Rivers Casino that opened up within the past year. I would like to return, but primarily to check out the other surrounding venues. I have been to Adobe Gilas many times and have had some pretty rocky experiences. I am pretty disappointed with my last visit today at Adobe Gilas. The place itself is a pretty large, open dining room on the 2nd floor. There is an elevator or a few flights of stairs. There are ton of TVs that are all tuned to sports so at least you can catch a game while waiting for your food. Chips and salsa are not complimentary so you need to buy those (except weekday happy hour). I wanted queso so ordered 1 order of that and one salsa. Out came 2 trays of chips and the appropriate side dishes and was charged as 2 apps. I think the waitress could have explained it would be 2 orders and just asked if I wanted the sauces instead of spending $14 or so on chips and dip. Our server was ok, but never really asked how things were leaving us with a sub-par experience. Our meals were all pretty blah. The fajitas were OK, but were a pretty small portion for around $15. The kids chicken nuggets were frozen along with the fries. The fries were either limp or partially frozen. If you are going to charge regular prices for frozen fries at least cook them! My Havana Dip sandwich was a disappointment. It was a tiny portion of pulled pork with a little cheese on a semi hard roll. The sandwich didn't have much flavor and the fries were also undercooked. The au jus it came with was actually cold. Not room temperature - cold! The prices aren't too bad, but it just wasn't a good meal. Sadly I think this will be out last time to eat here. The menu is overpriced, everything tastes mediocre, the DJ plays radio pop hits, the service isn't great, and it's just not worth visiting. I stopped in here before catching a movie and we were short on time so I paid for our bill before the food came out. I didn't finish my food because it was too salty for me and didn't complain because we were in a rush. As we were walking to the parking garage, I heard our server behind us with a security guard. She claimed we didn't pay our bill. I reminded her I paid for it before the food came out and she said "no" with an attitude while walking away from me. I reminded her again that I gave her my card when my partner was in the restroom and then she remembered. Humiliated, she immediately walked away with the security guard without giving me a proper apology that she just created an unnecessary scene in public. It wasn't even busy when we left at 9:30pm so there was no reason for her to grab security to chase us down before she even checked her open tabs. The place does get really busy on the weekends, which is expected of any place out here in the MB entertainment district. This place kinda sucks. The food is decent, but definitely not as good as what it is priced at. Not at all authentic Mexican food. I think almost all the restaurants located in the vicinity of the Entertainment District are overrated and definitely not worth the price, this being one of them. The layout of their menu is super cheesy, not even in a cute way, and it looks like a 5 year old thought of the layout and font. It's funny because this place is in the middle of Rosemont and it's trying to be a paradise on the inside, but when you look outside, you see nothing that screams paradise. Normally places like this settle in cute areas so that the outside can be more themed as well, but when you are eating and looking out your window, all you see is a plain field, unless it's summer and there is a concert outside or it is December and there is an ice rink. This place is also very dirty and everything is so sticky (tables and the floor). As for nightlife, this place is not worth having to pay cover. After I think 10pm on weekends, this place charges cover and I'd say if you can't get in for free before then, don't bother stepping foot through the door. It's not an expensive cover, but just the idea of having a cover here is laughable. I'll go to Moretti's in Edison Park for free instead, thank you. The people who come here are rude, obnoxious, and they wear clothes that they should not be wearing, meaning it does not fit their bodies. If a place allows someone to show their whole book almost and their crotch is showing, yes, a business should be able to turn them away. If you want to charge River North prices for drinks, you should want to upscale the place. I wish there was more of a dress code. The bouncers outside just flirt and act creepy with these guests, so I guess dressing like that gets them what they want. This place just wants money. It's funny how I look young and they once thought my ID was fake when I am 23 years old, but they let some 20 year old in with a fake ID (I knew her so I knew her age) in no problem cuz she was dressed super skanky. Yup, these bouncers don't give a crap about the law, they just wanna see something. Drinkwise, I am convinced that the fishbowls are simply kool-aid because you don't taste any alcohol in them at all and you don't even get tipsy off of one (which is funny because I am super lightweight), and the drinks are so expensive here. IF you want alcohol in your fishbowl, you can order a shot which is a tube put into a plastic shark's mouth... pretty cool if that wasn't much more expensive and didn't taste like straight up rubbing alcohol. Adobe does have a DJ on weekends which makes it pretty fun, but all they really play is rap or hip-hop. So if you are only into that, maybe you will like this place more than me. Here is my one star review over a .75 cent argument with the manager and waitress. My friend and I came- ordered chips, salsa, and we ordered 6 buffalo wings and 6 spicy garlic wings. We never received the spicy garlic wings- but didn't bother bringing it to her attention because we were kind of already full and I didn't want her rushing the order in when we were ok with just the 6 buffalo wings and chips. I pointed out all the food to her before she cleaned the table. So he left. She came back and said he said he isn't taking it off. I'm like over 75 cents??? Ok? well that'll reflect on your tip and review- she said sorry- not my problem. He didn't want to take off 75 CENTS!!!!! Are you kidding me???? What kind of manager risks losing customers, tips and getting bad reviews over 75 cents. That is absurd. This place has horrible reviews to begin with. And I saw that but figured I'd give it a try anyway. Huge mistake. Plus the margarita- was extremely watered down. I drank an entire pitcher and it was no different than drinking lemonade. Local bar/restaurant. This was my first time at an Adobe Gilas. They have a Lincoln Park location as well. I went there before going to the movies (Muvico in Rosemont is right next door). I got there a little after 9pm on a Friday and was allowed to go upstairs and sit anywhere. I had a waitress and full menu availability so that was nice, but the atmosphere felt very Wrigley Bar-esque, where you have a combination of loud music, food/drinks, and sports on TV, meanwhile people can either be chilling or getting rowdy - and you pray when you're there it's not the latter. So I'm not a huugeee fan of that scene to begin with and I was caught a little off guard. Regardless, I sat down and got the nachos with chicken and a couple of beers. Nachos were tasty but seemed kind of like bar food-style as well, where ingredients aren't necessarily fresh and picked out with the customer in mind; and the speedy rate at which they came out was a little unnerving too. Usually nachos take at least 8-10min... mine came out in 3 min tops. Overall since it was my first time here I can't for sure establish whether I like it or not, I need to come back during regular dinner hours to see if they do have a sit-down-style dining area or if the above description is how they always serve their customers. Walked around Rosemont for a good restaurant and stumbled upon Adobe Gilas for a late dinner. Was taken aback by the friendly staff and fashionable decor. Our server, whom I remember by having a southern accent offered us one of their classic drinks and had the menu memorized by heart. Not many servers are too kind to a group of young adults, but she was very sweet to us and my friend's gluten and dairy allergy. I ordered a cheese quesadilla with a side of guacamole. I personally think it's sinful to charge extra for guac, but I get it that avocados aren't cheap. However, the cheese inside the quesadilla was phenomenal! Being from Wisconsin I'm picky about my cheese, and I could tell there was several types of cheese in the quesadilla to enjoy. It was one of my favorite restaurant quesadillas I've had in a long time. When we paid our lovely server asked to see our parking pass so she could validate it, and we didn't have to pay for parking for that night. The only thing I can say I didn't appreciate was the lack of street parking, no chips and salsa at the table, and the cups they used were plastic and wasteful if not recycled. -10 Just a warning I would not go to this place. My daughter in law and son were there celebrating her birthday with friends. She had gotten sick and needed to throw up so as she went into the bathroom she asked if she could go in front of the line the people in line let her. As she went into the stall the bathroom attendant told her if she had to throw up then do it in the garage can that people were waiting to use the toilets then she preceded to pull her out of the stall by her hair and started ripping her hair out by the scalp (she has a lot of bald spots) and punching her. She has bruises on her back and arms They dragged her out by her hair and security or management didn't help her. Her phone was shattered both sides. The bathroom attendant was arrested and charged with assault and battery this is her 4th offense she had 3 priors for assault my daughter in law has never in her life been in a fight. There are witnesses to this assault. She is very traumatized she keeps crying and is scared her hair will not grow back. This was a traumatic experience for her and the people she was with. George I seen your reply. I am sure your security will not corporate. They are the ones that ended up dragging her outside too. While my son was still inside. Her friend had to go get my son And then they had to flag down a police officer that was walking out in front of your place which the police officer brought them to a secure place on the grounds then took them to the police station. So your staff and security was no help at all. Hopefully you will keep the video for court. And since this I have heard other stories about your place. Holly was the most remarkable server I have ever had at any establishment. She was attentive, knowledgeable and just always available. I was on a short layover in Chicago and randomly walked upon this establishment and this was so amazed at how amazing the customer service was. Abel the general manager was also doing a very interested job at paying attention to his customers. I had been to Adobe Gilas before and wasn't the biggest fan but I attended a birthday party 2 weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised to how things have changed recently. This place was popping and we were seated right away. The waitress was quick to introduce herself and ask she gave us the menus. We asked questions about her suggestions and we tried one of the bowls. The bowls were fruity and definitely shareable. Music was top40 and they threw in some throwbacks which we totally enjoyed dancing to. Before we knew it, it was closing time! I'm not super familiar with the Rosemont party scene so I'm not sure what the other restaurants had to offer and how this compares. While, being overpriced, it was pretty tasty strawberry margarita. What shocked me were the shots. One of the guys in our party bought shots for the graduate. They don't advertise the prices for the shots, but they didn't order premium tequilas. The bill ended up being over $275 for about 20 shots. Do that math. That's pretty expensive. The table ordered nachos. I didn't have any, but everyone seemed to like it... don't know if that is reliable though.. ;). Overall, though, we had a great time. The dance floor is pretty large and you have plenty of room to dance. The music was awesome. I thought it was interesting that they have free colourful chips and salsa. We didn't noticed the chips when we walked in so we ended up ordering them. I think, it would have been nice for the waitress to point that out so we could have ordered something different. The view was very nice. I will probably come back. read more

Love the location of this restaurant where you can sit high above the Entertainment District in Rosemont watching the Ohare take-offs or the wide variety of events and concerts taking place below. The manager Abel was very accommodating to our group and the server Cece was attentive and pleasant while taking our order. The menu has a wide variety of offerings and the drinks were very tasty for sure. We will be back for sure to sample the fajitas and other items that look so good. This may be the best all round food-drink-dance place in Rosemont that we have been to and by far the coolest location on a summers night. Can't wait to go back ASAP! read more
