Adopted this adorable domestic short haired kitten named Honey from this adoption center. She's bonding so wonderfully with my 1 year old male at home. Adoption process went really well, and Lori was amazing. I've always enjoyed interacting with other cat lovers like myself. I love that this center truly cares on sending their furry loved ones to ideal homes. Thank you for all you do

Are you lonely? Your soul mate may be waiting right here for you! I mean, Brad Pitt lives here and gets to roam the hallways. I came here to drop off some cat food as a donation and decided to visit the kitties. The ladies working at the counter were very nice. I had to sign in and one of them gave me a tour of the cat section. There were about 6 different rooms where the cats live. Most of them roam free but some are in the cage for their own safety. They seem to have plenty of bedding, little boxes, toys, food and sun. The cats were pretty nice, some more friendly than others. There's a binder at the entrance of each room with information about the cats inside. ....| \ _ , , , - - , , _ , .../ , ` . - ' ` ' . _ \ - ; ; ; , _ ..| , a - ) ) _ . ; . We just adopted our first dog from ADOPT and we had a great experience! I was a little worried reading some of the reviews about others being rejected since we had never owned a dog before, besides family dogs when we were both kids, but we had a great experience, the staff was very friendly and incredibly helpful throughout the whole process. Just to give everyone all of the info that was on our application, we own a home with a sizable backyard, we're a married couple without kids, and we will be leaving our dog alone for 8-9 hours some days. We came in on a Saturday and told them that we didn't have a specific dog in mind but did have a size and age in mind and we wanted to see who would be a good fit for us. They took us back to where the dogs cages where and let us observe them. We had two in mind that we wanted to "interview" so each of the dogs was brought back to a get-to-know-you room. We asked for toys to be brought and there were treats in the room. We also asked to take each of the dogs for a walk to see how they behaved. I'm happy to say that we found a good fit! The adopton fee come with a microchip, spay/nuter, needed shots, 3 month of heart-worm meds, and about 2 weeks worth of food to take home We just came back from our first vet appointment and the vet was very impressed with how well the shelter took care of our puppy! I highly recommend going here and if not here please rescue!

WOW! I finally hit 500!…read more I wanted to make this review special--something that's close to my heart (just like my other 100 markers!). For those of you who know me, know that I love my pooch Ryno. He's a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and yes, is treated like royalty. I have yet to meet a Cavalier that hasn't been sweet, awesome, and overall just a great catch! I have not adopted from this rescue, but know people who have, I've also met a few people affiliated with the rescue at various meet ups and dog shows throughout IL and even WI. :-) You couldn't ask for a bunch of better people! Here's a little about their mission (taken from their website): GCCR's mission is to help ensure the health and security of abused, abandoned, and otherwise endangered Cavalier King Charles Spaniels by rehabilitating and placing Cavaliers from shelters and similar situations, by assisting breeders and owners in finding new homes for their Cavaliers, and by providing to the public educational materials and consultation regarding Cavalier health and care. The growing popularity of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels has prompted increased breeding by unscrupulous breeders and puppy mills. This development suggests that owners' concerns about health as well as the number of Cavaliers in need will only grow. Placement of Cavaliers in new homes without appropriate, knowledgeable veterinary testing may result in unforeseen, serious heartaches for new owners. The GCCR as well as other dedicated Cavalier rescuers and owners are here to help.

It seems like the two other reviews say it all!! I volunteer with the GCCR and can't believe how…read moresupportive, nurturing, and selfless this group of people truly are.
