My parents saw her at the shelter back in 2012 and texted me her photo (because they knew I wanted a cat), and I was like "yes absolutely I want her I will come get her." And the rest is history -- it's been 11 great years with my bestie (and hopefully many more). And then a year later, almost to the day, my parents were like "hey let's go to Adopt" the day after Thanksgiving and they ended up getting a cat (their second) for themselves. I haven't been back to the shelter since 2013 when I went with them when they decided to get their cat, but at that time the shelter was super nice and they had several rooms where cats could roam free. It was a nice, no-stress situation to be able to sit on a sofa or on the floor and have the cats come check you out. So many snuggles. And I follow them on Instagram and they continue to do great work and care deeply for the animals they rescue. Definitely check them out if you are looking for a new best friend! We went and we fell in love with one of the two females. We weren't certain we were going to adopt her yet because the rest of the family needed convincing. We already a dog. Our neighbor adopted a male. About a week later my sister and mom went to the shelter in Joliet to adopt her. My sister paid her. We were told she couldn't go home until the next week after she had been spayed which they only do once a week. That same day my neighbor took her puppy home. About two days later one of the puppies that had already gone home was diagnosed with Parvo. All the puppies had to be isolated for eachother. We wanted to know if our puppy had it or not and offered to pay full price for their vet to do the test. They refused. If we took her home then we couldn't blame them. My two little nieces live with us. We couldn't give them a sick puppy or put our other dog as risk for this deadly illness. Then a week later we were told she came down with kennel cough and was going to stay at the owners house. We could get it when she was better. At this point we all just wanted our dog but the lady kept assuring us she was fine. She even sent us pictures of her giving her a bath and running around. My sister's coworker also adopted a puppy from this liter. She went to pick up her male puppy and they had mislabeled them and tried to give her ours. She said no this a female, my friends dog. Our dog was not supposed to be at the shelter, she was supposed to be at the owners house. At first they told her that accidently gave her dog to another family. So she tried to file a police report but turns out her puppy was the one at the owners house The owner of an animal shelter could tell the difference between a boy and girl. The same day our neighbors puppy got very sick because he had a parasite and three different types of worms. During all this my sister and I got in the car to make the 45 minute ride during rush hour to get our dog. We weren't going to wait anymore. We wanted our dog and our vet said she'd get her ASAP to test for Parvo and worms. The lady turned her phone off while dealing with my sisters friend. She called us back when we about ten minutes away and said we could pick up our puppy the next day. We said no we almost there. She said the shelter was closing and no one would be there. First off all someone should watch all those animals at night and second of all not one person could wait ten minutes? When we got there everything was locked up. We got our puppy the next day but they refused to give us information on the vet they used for the spaying. Our vet said the surgery was done very sloppy and our puppy was too young for it. She tested negative for parvo and positive for roundworms, hookworms, tapeworms, and another parasite. Our vet happens to be Bansfield at Petsmart and our vet was upset at the way our puppy was treated. She was also too young for a lot of shots they gave her. Our Petsmart no longer lets HART do adoptions there. I'm not saying they are bad people I just think they needed have the resources or expertise to handle that type of situation.

WOW! I finally hit 500!…read more I wanted to make this review special--something that's close to my heart (just like my other 100 markers!). For those of you who know me, know that I love my pooch Ryno. He's a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and yes, is treated like royalty. I have yet to meet a Cavalier that hasn't been sweet, awesome, and overall just a great catch! I have not adopted from this rescue, but know people who have, I've also met a few people affiliated with the rescue at various meet ups and dog shows throughout IL and even WI. :-) You couldn't ask for a bunch of better people! Here's a little about their mission (taken from their website): GCCR's mission is to help ensure the health and security of abused, abandoned, and otherwise endangered Cavalier King Charles Spaniels by rehabilitating and placing Cavaliers from shelters and similar situations, by assisting breeders and owners in finding new homes for their Cavaliers, and by providing to the public educational materials and consultation regarding Cavalier health and care. The growing popularity of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels has prompted increased breeding by unscrupulous breeders and puppy mills. This development suggests that owners' concerns about health as well as the number of Cavaliers in need will only grow. Placement of Cavaliers in new homes without appropriate, knowledgeable veterinary testing may result in unforeseen, serious heartaches for new owners. The GCCR as well as other dedicated Cavalier rescuers and owners are here to help.

Affordable, compassionate care with a positive experience…read more I've taken both of my dogs to Paws With the Cause Vet Care several times over the years for vaccination clinics, and I'm always grateful to have an affordable option for routine care. Recently, I decided to bring my youngest corgi here to be spayed. I'll admit--I was nervous going in after reading some of the less favorable reviews--but I'm happy to say my experience was entirely positive from start to finish. Check-in was smooth and efficient. I arrived early, carried her in as soon as the doors opened, and we were checked in quickly. I was told I'd receive a call or text later in the day when she was ready for pickup. Pickup itself was a little hectic and took longer than I had hoped, but once I had my girl back, everything else went wonderfully. She recovered beautifully from the procedure, and they sent her home with medication to help manage pain and keep her calm during those first few recovery days. Overall, I'm very pleased with the care we received and truly appreciate having access to a service like this. I would absolutely recommend Paws With the Cause Vet Care--especially for anyone looking for quality, affordable veterinary services.

They were a sham and bait and switch trash operation. Not sure where my actual updated review went…read morebut this should correct it. Holy Hell At first this sounded like a great place with a solid mission statement and amazing prices for vet care even if it was 30-40 minutes away (from NW burbs) in Naperville, IL... so it was a little concerning that their reviews on Yelp and Google were inconsistent AND majorly NOT positive. Backstory: been looking for a neuter for a newly rescued cat directly from the streets, not thru an organization, and this requires a lot of vet and setup work (vaccination neuter etc). These guys sold me on the services and affordable fees so well I was set to go get my new cat all done here and bring my other too as well UNTIL the cheap pettiness reveal happened... and I experienced an epiphany on who they actually are...and why these poor reviews exist. Services seem okay, but they didn't do the exam in front of me so I cant really attest to that. The checkup summary recap and findings seemed adequate. I have a regular vet. I came here because of the neuter and I was contemplating moving vet services over for the whole set because I had some positive initial calls and chats. It's a long drive 30m more than the 10m it normally takes me and this is and was not appreciated... feline complaint meows became l yowling wrestling and tearing at the carrier behavior at the end of this trip. So imagine the level of annoyance one has after arriving by 8am, waiting 30m to get a simple checkup and blood draw waiting another 30m to get your pet's back... then being denied the advertised discount on this checkup (paltry $25) because: 1. I didn't have it printed out on paper 2. they don't have access to a printer 3. It cant be printed at the UPS store now bc it needed to be presented at checkin... because the invoice isn't be rerun (really JFC) talk about the most ridiculous interaction with a low budget vibe of BS from the not-so-gifted... omg seriously? So not to be a Karen but hell... I wanted to talk to the clinic Manager. The staff run by this unpleasant JACKIE NAMELESS ("no I don't have a business card") didnt care about the marketing chat and promises or all the hassle getting up at 6am for this deal to make a red tape exception... AND final straw ... because I complained about this promo coupon situation she said they would not let me get my neuter here. They whole reason I even did any of this... yeah I walked out without anything but utter contempt for this trash admin operation that wasted 3 hours of my time and gave me a stressed out boy who tore open the carrier by the time I got home. GFTO and away. This is a good indicator and illustration of WHY this place had to move and change their DBA name for a reason... what a joke of a place and this level of services shows how you get what you pay for... and the prior negative reviews are legit. (Note there was a guy complaining about the vet service he got for his dog, rescued cat directly from the streets, not thru an organization, and this requires a lot of vet and setup work (vaccination neuter etc). These guys sold me on the services and affordable fees so well I was set to go get my new cat all done here and bring my other too as well UNTIL the cheap pettiness reveal happened... and I experienced an epiphany on who they actually are...and why these poor reviews exist. ** BEWARE **
