No matter what style i'm rocking or where I'm living, I'm very protective of my hair and who does it. I have been going to a barber on Flatbush for about a year and was in the mood to find a new barber that worked better with my schedule. I googled "best barbers in Brooklyn" and lo and behold AFG came up in the search results and I have to say they lived up to all the amazing reviews that I read online. Vince was my barber and he was amazing! He was professional, polite, and was genuinely interested in my needs/wants for my hair. I was in and out of the salon in about 30 minutes (Great timing!). It was also nice because I went to the salon today, on a tuesday, and had the salon all to myself! I must add that although the outside can be a little misleading, the inside (they're located on the 3rd floor) was very clean, open, and had a nice relaxing feel. I have been cutting my hair with this grooming salon for over 3 years. Overall I am pleased with the way my hair has been cut, however, I am highly disappointed with Adrian's customer service. A few weeks ago, I set a hair appointment that was unfortunately missed as a result of unforeseen circumstances. During the week of the blizzard, I was stuck in the train for over 2 hours due to a random fire in the next station. Notwithstanding the foregoing, I was still charged the full amount ($63.48) for a haircut. I made sure to call the shop to advise them of the situation to which i received an indifferent response. I believed that Adrian and I developed a good relationship through the years, so I messaged him personally, letting him know the situation. Considering that I have never missed an appointment in the past 3 years I have cut my hair there, I asked if there was anything that could be done to fix the situation that was out of my control. I am aware of their policy, but still reached out to see if I can show up just 5 minutes later than the 15 minute grace period (if not later that day). For a person who emphasizes customer service both on their company page and personal page, i was quite surprised when Adrian read my message and did not extend the courtesy of a response, not even an acknowledgment after 3 years. I am more disappointed in the owner's response to a client's concern, or rather, lack of response. Had the pleasure of going there today to get my father a cut. First off you feel very welcomed when you walk in both Adrian and Tim introduced themselves and offered us something to drink. We sat in the waiting room for maybe 2 minutes and Tim came to get my father for his cut. It's been probably 20+ years since my dad has been to barber he is so used to cutting his own hair. The best thing about Adrian Fanus Grooming is that appointment means appointment. Two times I went here so far, I've been taken on time. They offer you drinks, I just asked for water. Third visit and they didn't disappoint. I'm a woman with androgenetic alopecia and a stylist or barber can definitely change my mood with one snip. Not only was Sir Lord attentive to my specific needs I appreciated the time and care that was provided in cutting my hair. Between the current location they're at now & the old spot on Dekalb, I live on the complete OPPOSITE side of Brooklyn, so for me to have to travel almost 40 minutes there and back home?
