I recently went to Advance Auto Parts and it wasn't so great. The employee who help me was David Garcia. He has one of the worst repetitive body odor. I asked one if his co workers what's his schedule so I could avoid seeing him. The amount of times he is so rude. If I'm wanting to buy an oil for my car. He tends to tell me some other crap about different brands and literally force me to get it. But I always say no and he gets into an attitude. One of my friends recently came by and said the exact same thing about Mobil One Oil and how he was yapping so much about different brands. He also mentioned how bad his odor is. It doesn't sit in right knowing how the David Garcia is very unhygienic. Makes me question the mangers and employees hygienes. read more

Batteries are pricey here $130+, but I received great customer service from Collin here. He ran some diagnostics, replaced my battery, and made sure everything worked before checking me out. We had a ton of irons in the fire. My car was in the shop because it would intermittently turn itself off. No power brakes, or steering. On our way to rent a car for me, her car battery just gasped when my wife started her car. It was a near thing that it started. Last we needed! Advance tested it and it got a toe tag. He looked up a replacement, but it was 200$. He took another look and found a compatible battery for 125$. He put it in, and off we went. At first I still thought the battery was over priced, but he put in the labor, including the test, and replacement. I believe it was worth the money after all he did. read more

Went in there with some car battery trouble on a Sunday and the guy at the counter was not able to pull up my order and look up my warranty details. (battery purchased from same store few years ago). My previous order also got reversed by error while he was trying to pull it up. Since he needed his manager's intervention to fix everything, I was asked to return the next day as their manager is apparently available only on weekdays. Went back the next day evening, manager had already left, but I was given a new battery, free of charge, to compensate for all the inconvenience. My two automobiles are constantly malfunctioning in some capacity so I am usually seen here at least once per month. They typically have the parts I need in stock, and when they don't they can get them to the store within 2-3 hours. Battery installation on-site is a great service, especially with my hard-to-reach battery. I've purchased everything from blower motors to wiper control panels to AC fuses to batteries to a sun shield screen thingy here and have had good luck. My only knock on them is they could be a little friendlier and maybe have another person on staff at any given moment. There is almost always a line a couple people deep and just one man manning the checkout. read more

First time in the store: I need an air filter, they don't have it in stock so they order it from another store. Second time in the store: The other store forgot to send it. This employee (same guy as my previous trip) was really friendly. So far, after two visits I have a good opinion of them actually. This employee is still what's lifting the location up from 1 star to 2. Third time in the store: Turns out this store forgot to order the filter for me at all. Argh. It wasn't the other store's fault this time. Fourth time in the store: There is a line of 6 or 7 people. Only 1 employee is behind the counter. He has to look up parts, and then go get them, and then check the people out, all on his own, so the first person takes forever to take care of even though the employee was competant. My wife went in to the store to purchase new wiper blades and very conveniently her car battery died as well. Ted behind the counter amongst other employees said they do not know how to change the battery but they could test it. They said the battery was good and it was an alternator. I drove the 25-30 miles down the store, heard the click from the dead battery when trying to start the car, bought a battery from them to which they over and over again said "we didn't do anything to the car, it's not our fault" I told them I realize that and the car is coming up 60k miles and three years old so it was time for a battery. BUT you left her here and told her you were unable to help her and started offering un-needed products to sell. AND now I was away from work to do a job that their commercial states that they can do. I was never rude to Ted nor was he rude in return, he just didn't offer to help and instead offered to sell something more expensive. read more

After the THIRD consecutive day of having to jump it and bracing to have to replace the alternator and/or starter, a mechanic less than a mile away from this store pinpointed the problem: bad battery. Attention, Austines! Do you enjoy being ridiculed by staff members at auto parts stores? Do you get tired of staff members being knowledgeable and willing to help? Do you like leaving a store and feeling like you have no idea what to do next? If so, stop by here, my friends! I came in to the store and the female employee assisted me. She was in the middle of a transaction with another customer and I walked in and she left him mid-sentence to show me where the product I asked for was. When we got there, I politely asked what she would recommend for my car, and she dismissively told me, "Well, I don't know what kind of car you have and I ain't seen inside it, so you gotta choose". I then randomly picked a couple things off the shelf, hoping and praying that they were correct. Around this time the previously abandoned customer came up to her and asked her the question again, and she gave the same level of service and half-heartedly showed him where to go. Soon thereafter I went to the cash register and the paunchy manager assisted me. He got a bit stressed out since he said I had to stop running my credit card as a chip (which I never did) and he said the transaction was waiting on me (even though it said, "Waiting for Cashier"). Finally we completed the transaction and I asked if someone from AAP could come out to my car to help me since I'm car illiterate and he said they wouldn't be able to. I then left the store and returned home. Now I suppose I will have to brush up on my Youtube videos and hope I install it correctly. Will not hurry back to this location. read more

I work on my own cars and have been in here a few times getting parts and what-not. They have a few guys who know their stuff. Example: I was troubleshooting a PITA throttle body on a Chevy, and was trying to find the error codes and root cause. It had been happening on/off for over a month. I got real familiar with the issue due to my research on the Internet. I ended up talking to one counter guy and (shocker alert!) he actually knew WTH I was talking about! That's not the first time that has happened at Advance but it definitely gives me warm fuzzies that the guys seem to know their stuff. Another time I was looking for a replacement Moog boot for a lower ball joint, they couldn't find a part # BUT they did pull an A-arm with the unit already installed (it was a customer return and he remembered they brought it back the day before) and we were able to compare the parts and double-check for part #'s. There is an awesome guy that works at this store by the name of John who really went beyond the line of duty to help me. I had recently bought a gas cap with a lock at another store. I went to put gas in my car and the lock failed on me and I couldn't get it out. It was pouring rain. I drove to this store and John said "let's go look at your gas cap sir, I'm not afraid of the rain". He really did. He went out in the rain and played with it for a while until he got it out.
