Yesterday, my wife drove to the airport to pick me up. After parking in the cell phone lot, she discovered the car wouldn't start. We had the jumper cables and a nice man helped my wife start the car. After picking me up, we went straight to the Advance Auto Parts nearest to our house, where we had been before. After looking at the battery, Linda (a store employee) saw the battery was an older model that used to be sold by the chain. Unfortunately, it was so old the warranty had long expired. Linda sold us a new battery, advised us to sit in the store where it was cooler (mid-80's outside), and took care of removing the old battery and installing the new one. The guys who worked this previous Sunday rocked! We had a issue finding a clip for some trim work that broke, which made the wheel well trim hit the tire. Everyone (due to customers coming in and out) had the opportunity to help us and they all did! By the time we left we literally added $30 to our order due to our original part only costing $4. We had such good service it was worth it! I wish we could take all of y'all back to houston! My battery died and Joel at Advance Auto Parts provided superb service. He guided me on battery options and pros/cons, with his solid knowledge and insight. He then painstakingly replaced my battery. Look at the pics. It took 20 or so minutes for the penetrating fluid to finally release the connectors. All along Joel was so low key and enjoyable to talk with. He did an excellent job of cleaning the contacts before installing the new battery. I'm incredibly happy with his service. So my car battery was about to die on me when I stopped by to get a replacement battery. I was first helped by one gentleman that ran a free battery check for me. He also removed some corrosion around the terminals to make sure it wasn't a bad connection. He rung me up for the replacement battery and some battery acid as I had requested. He had to leave so he handed me off to Connor to replace the battery. The screw holding the positive terminal together was so bent and corroded that he replaced it for free even though I offered to pay. Both guys went above and beyond to make sure I was 100% satisfied with their work and products. I strongly recommed this location. read more

I came to advance auto parts on620 to purchase a serpentine belt tool. During the purchase, I asked the employee about why the set have other socket sizes but did not contain a 14 mm pice. He stated that I should be able to get the job done with a 14 mm crows foot. So after his suggestion, I went ahead with the purchase. He gave me no receipt after our business transaction. I then attempted to use the 14 mm crow foot to loosen the bolt on the auto tensioner, and the tool did not work due to incorrect size. I drove to the store to return the tool the following day. Since the employee gave me no receipt, they tried to look up the tool via my number or the barcode. They found it, and the employee was stated " I can't click" on your purchase history to be able to return your money. She could see the purchased the item in store, still did not return my money. She stated call customer service. I call customer service to get the previous two employees errors corrected, but they are closed... don't purchase tools from this auto zone on 620 it will receive bad customer service and will be damn near impossible to get your money back. Save your time and money be going across the street to auto zone or O'Reiley's for your auto part tools or products. read more

Amazing experience! My car wouldn't start and since I know almost nothing about cars, I called my dad. He thought it was the battery. I called this store to make sure they had a battery to fit my vehicle and they did. I drove to them and a wonderful young man there explained my options. I purchased a battery and he said I could go with him or stay inside in the air-conditioning. I asked if I could watch as I would like to know what to do next time this happens. He was so great!! He explained every step as he did it and drew my attention to particular parts that were important. He had me start my vehicle to make sure everything was good. This young man went above and beyond!! OK advance auto parts .... where are the parts? Where is the advanced tool you can use to look up what I need? I go in for 3 bolts for a skid plate under my drivers side ..... "um what size" I didn't crawl under there to see, can't you look that up? "No, that isn't even going to be in your owners manual" no kidding? something useful isn't in the owners manual, wow, I guess that is why CHILTON puts out a book that is thicker than the Bible for every model of car .... guess they don't know that ..... OK fine, no bolts, I need an AC knob for my Buick Century .... "no, we don't carry that." I'm sorry, could you please repeat that .... "We don't carry that part." so what DO you carry? Bolts, but I need to know the right size .... so it is kinda like going to Home Depot with the same information right? I was too stunned to ask for a blinker bulb, I was still in shock that someone at an auto parts store didn't think to look in a Chilton's manual ..... On the plus side, they do have some pretty strong sockets +1 star for having a useful part, I had to pick up a 15mm deep socket to change out my spark plugs .... good thing I knew that was how big a spark plug was .... I've been going to various Advance Auto locations in the past few years, but this one has seen most of my business due to proximity. Generally, they are good with basic stuff - if you want to change your own oil or replace brake pads or something like that, they can help you quickly and at a great price for good quality parts. I've been buying other replacement parts lately, however, with very different results. Yesterday, I went in to repurchase an A/C clutch I had mistakenly returned - they could no longer find it and ordered another one. However, they could not find the ordered part either, and gave the impression they were not willing to look for it. (WTF?) While waiting for a fix to this problem, I reviewed my orders/receipts and found that a starter I had returned had been rung up as a core return - they'd given me $10 back instead of the $140 I originally paid and didn't even open the box to check which part I was handing back to them. It was a huge hassle trying to get it corrected. Not knowing what's in the box appears to be a common problem, as I'd also purchased an ignition wire set which turned out to be a used item that someone had previously returned to another location as if it were new. Either that, or someone in the store forgot to mark it as used (but as far as I know, Advance does not deal in used parts). Basically, my advice is this - if you're buying simple stuff for basic maintenance, great choice and nice selection. If you're doing more technical stuff (like troubleshooting an A/C system) and have to order parts, MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THE BOX FOR THE CORRECT PART, AND CHECK YOUR RECEIPT BEFORE YOU SIGN. They obviously won't check and don't seem to care. They also will not be very helpful in determining the "best fit" part so make sure you've done your research beforehand. Considering the A/C clutches that seemed to simply disappear, I really don't have a good feeling about how they do business. I'm no maestro at car repair (yet), and I've gone in circles a bit trying to figure out how to get my car back on the road. While I won't be going back unless I have to, if I do, I'll definitely be watching my back. I highly recommend you do the same. read more

Yeah, I hope the owner/franchisee reads this because he/she has some people who could probably use the boot. Went in to get wiper blades. The lady at the counter let me go out and try one on my car to see if it fit. I couldn't figure it out, so after acting quite annoyed that I asked her to actually do something and give me a tip, she went out and needed to snap a part off the new wiper for it to fit. At that point, whatever, no biggie. Just a bad attitude. However, once back inside, annoyed girl and the two male employees working proceeded to basically ignore me (aside from taking my credit card) and talk about who gets drunk more often - bragging and carrying on about it in front of customers. No conversation made with me, no thank you for my business, nothing even remotely close to acknowledging the presence of a customer. After leaving, I try the new wiper out, but it isn't wiping well at all and leaving a bunch of streaks. I give it a day, thinking it may need to break in, but same thing. Then I look at the wiper, and it turns out that the blade cover wasn't removed. Did it damage anything? No - not at all. But maybe if the employee who put it on was thinking less about the next time she could get drunk, and more about correctly installing a product she sold me, I wouldn't be writing this review. read more

Store seems clean, we found what we needed with no assistance, shelves were well stocked, but homeboy at the cash register was gross! When we walked up he was eating a bag of chips and proceeded to wipe his hand on the counter before touching our things to ring them up. He was short with us, as if we were inconveniencing him. This place was disappointing. My bf went in and asked if they had a radiator reservoir cap. The guy looked clueless as to what my bf asked and kept asking if he wanted a windshield water fluid cap to which my bf kept saying no. We left and tried calling another Advanced Auto Parts to which we got confused answers or no's. You would think an auto parts store clerk would know what car parts are since you are working in an auto parts store. Needed to replace rear brake pads,rebuild rear calipers,new rotors,new slide bolts, new rubber boot kit. Found parts on-line reasonable with 15% discount. Called store and was told they could give me the 15% off. When I went to pay the manager would not honor 15% only 8%. Parts were all on counter and so I paid the extra money. Mostly everything they gave me was pretty good. The rubber boots for the slide bolts were the worst I have ever used. They are really stretching the window for after market parts. They were too small and had to be really opened up to get on . They were alot smaller than the OEM. read more

Customer service at auto parts stores can be pretty hit or miss, but I had a great experience in this store last week working with Bryce. I went in needing a couple batteries and he went above and beyond in making sure I got what I needed. These were marine batteries which tend to sit on the shelf longer than others so he even went as far as testing the batteries to make sure I got the best ones. Great customer service. read more

This is a review for the new store on Mcneil and 183 but their not on gmaps. Instead of paying $80 to have a shop plug in a diagnostics tool to read an error code on our 2001 Acura, they did it for free, which the code turned out to be nothing more than an emissions code which we occasionally get with bad premium gas. They also checked the batter for free and as suspected, we needed a new one. They switched this out as well as some new wiper blades and we were out of there in 15 minutes.
