After mentioning the issue, I was told rather abruptly that my car was at risk of sparking and blowing up while driving -- a very alarming statement to make without any thorough inspection. We went inside to get the assistant manager, who admitted she didn't know what to do and quickly brought out another team member. They then stated that wires were burning from the inside out. As for the battery test, no clear explanation was given after the initial check. When we followed up to ask if it needed replacement, the employee suddenly said, "Actually, yes," and started quoting voltage numbers off the top of his head -- without referencing the machine that had tested the battery. It felt like the numbers may have been made up to pressure us into purchasing a new one. Before the employees even offered any real solutions, we had already called a trusted family friend who understands cars well. After we explained the situation over the phone, he was able to walk us through exactly what was happening -- without seeing the car or even looking at any numbers. His insight made complete sense and ultimately helped us resolve the issue, long before the workers at O'Reilly's gave us their alarming and inconsistent assessments Another customer nearby -- a father who had been listening -- even expressed concern that we were being taken advantage of. I understand that not every situation has an easy answer, but I left feeling like I couldn't trust the advice I was given. Drove straight to the mary Esther location-about 20 minutes-where I was informed that the filter was now already on its way to the Destin location, the complete opposite way of home and from where I just came. Called the Destin location to speak with Michael but he was already gone for the day, I was told I'd get a call when the filter came in but that was four days ago and still nothing. The poor guy helping me at mary Esther location said it wasn't possible for him to process my refund and profusely apologized even though it wasn't his fault, he said it happens all the time. I've been a loyal oreillys customer for years while living out west but that has now changed.

I talked with these guys and they were able to get me a battery at a better price than Walmart but also said that they had a couple shops that could change the alternator the same day if needed. They stock lots of foreign parts so they had my alternator in stock. Thankfully the problem was only the battery.

About 6 months later, my car was giving me similar issues so I called them up to let them know what was going on, but that I was no longer in Destin. Destin Imports located a car shop in my home city, contacted them for me, and arranged for my alternator to be replaced again under the warranty. They followed up daily to ensure that it got done correctly and took care of everything for me. As a young female, it is very very hard to find a car place to trust, but these guys have gone above and beyond!!! I would highly recommend to anyone. The owner called me after a week to say the ticking was coming from the bottom of the car, not the top, and needed new cams/bearings for $3k or it could catastrophically fail. I agreed. The ticking is still there, and it's painfully obvious (they said they test drove it and it was fine). I called five times over the course of two weeks trying to speak to someone about it to find out whether I should bring it back in or not. The manager said I wasn't allowed to speak to a mechanic, but he'd have someone call. No one called. I've maintained this BMW myself since 2018, so I decided to run the diagnostic myself. It ended up being a completely different problem, so I'll be taking it elsewhere to get the repair done. It would have helped me tremendously to know if the cams/bearings were actually out of limits, but they didn't even bother documenting it on the bill. They got $3k out of me, but they lost a customer.
