Had a battery charger that failed. Tried to return the next day. "no returns on electronics". Never heard of this type of policy not standing behind failed merchandise. It turns out that the policy is in fine print on the back of a sign at the entrance. Stupid me, I did not turn a sign around , get a magnifying glass and be aware of the store policy. The female manager that works there was not friendly nor was she helpful in helping me find the exactly what I needed for my car. I also asked her about a filter and her tone was completely uninviting. I ended up spending twice the amount intended because I thought the people there knew about cars and I purchased the wrong product and had to repurchase again. Not good management to make a customer feel confident in their purchase. I will never go back to this location. I hope upper management sees this I have not been there in years and will not be again. Though they only carry the paint touch-up pen in the color I need they suggested they could lookup the spray product for me and print out the information to help me locate what I need. They did more than expected. read more

I love this place. They help me find what I need and even install the item if I can't do it myself. On one trip after I bought new windshield wipers, the lady who installed them for me asked if I needed anything else. I hadn't been able to get my back seat down/trunk open for weeks. I asked if she had any ideas. She got in my car and took the time (more than 20 minutes) to get the seat down without charging me anything. I bought her a burger from Bare Bones next door to say thanks. This place is great- especially for women. They don't B.S. you and get you on your way. read more

The sassiest saltiest salesman (if you can call him that) I have ever encountered. I went in for wiper fluid and a tail light bulb. When I gave my cars make and model I got a sassy reply of "the bulbs are all over there" and after going to the aisle I was yelled the part number I needed and then "mansplained" why I don't want an LED part.... Maybe that's why I asked YOU, the supposed "professional" which part I needed? Then while checking out he points to the Rain-X wiper fluid and asks "you like that crap?" Really? What a great way to sell products.... I pick up the most expensive fluid and then you tell me my choice is crap. I had a wonderful experience from this advanced auto parts. The gentleman helping me tonight was very knowledgeable and took the time to educate me on the different types of batteries for my minivan. He was very helpful and installed my battery really well. He was careful and was super clean as he cleaned off rust on my terminals and got rid of all the dirt and grim from the areas around the battery. I have been going to this particular advanced auto part store for years and will continue to do so. read more

About to leave for Ocean City - go figure the battery was dead in my car... we called roadside assistance and got a jump then went straight to AAP for a new battery. The plan was to go to our friend's garage and have them install it for us - but AAP explained to my husband that they will install it for free and dispose of our old battery as well. The nice young man came out to do the swap = he was very professional and withstood my husband hovering over him and trying to talk to him the whole time. We learned that he was a local Ellicott City boy and in pre-med in college - It's nice to see kids working hard these days. After about 15 minutes he was done and we were on the road. We of course gave him a nice tip for his time, especially since it was a free service. read more

Busy place and took a bit of time to be waited upon but when I was the service was excellent. I had a probably dead battery in a very old car. Mahmood worked very hard to resolve the problem and could not have been kinder or more helpful. Same for Andrew. I ended up with a new battery and a new respect for this business. Kudos to management for instilling such a great ethos of service and courtesy. read more

Pretty terrible. Bought brake pads and one was missing. Came back to pick up the last pad that was missing and they were out of stock. So they said I had to get a new set, but would not except the return because the clips were missing. read more

As previous reviewers have stated, the service here is horrible. The people behind the counter don't listen to you, and will offer up the wrong part because of it. I had to make two trips there because I wanted a locking gas cap, which had to be retrieved from another store. Went back to pick it up (after being made to pre-pay), and it was not a locking cap. Had to wait in a line of five people just to find this out, and then no one knew how to operate the cash register to complete a return. Only one young lady there knew how, but she was swamped because she had to do everything for everyone else. If you get stuck there though, look for the lady with the tattoos on her wrists, as she is literally the only person there who seemed to know how to do her job. I'm sure the few good reviews were people she served. There was even one kid behind the counter who was rude when I questioned why I had to reload my credit card into the machine, and be re-charged before I could receive my refund. He obviously wasn't raised to respect adults, and needs to be fired. Then I had to sign two more receipts to confirm I picked up the part, and then returned it. I spotted a good seven employees bumping into each other, and finally one of them offered to open another cash register for the line of people. Unfortunately, this is the only Auto parts store in my immediate area, but from now on I will spend the extra gas money to go somewhere else. read more

Went there to have battery tested which I ad purchased previously. the assistant mgr tested my alternator for free and replaced my battery for free. He was as helpful as can be and I was so happy, I bought some wipers, which he installed. The customer service was out of this world! read more

Sadly this store is seldom stocked well. They seldom have the store staffed well either. Today I am sure I was not the largest purchase at $10+ dollars, however it should not take 15-20 to get checked out with a purchase. It seemed today a man who they were convincing he did not need to purchase a battery, along with a second customer who was purchasing a battery were more important than the long line forming of customers with actual purchases. Just when I though I would get service the only cashier graciously offered to carry the battery out to the mans car. So now we had zero cashiers! To make matters worse an employee off the clock decided to chat with the only cashier who was standing outside the front door. You would have thought the staff would have had concern for the customers he knew were wishing to make purchases inside the store. In fact several people were already venting that this store is the worst one to make the simplest of purchases at. I would suggest you shop elsewhere at another Advance or better yet another store such as Auto Zone, Pep Boys or Napa. I would have given this visit just one single star but luckily they did have the two items I came for. read more
