We went in and told them what I needed at first some kid tried to tell me what he thought I needed then I looked at the guy behind him and said I am a veteran with many years of vehicle maintenance, I know exactly what I need for my car. While it was there, I asked them to see if they could determine where an oil leak was coming from. I really didn't expect to hear anything because it seems like these days that service is extremely lacking. Well, I can say that this shop and the people there care about their work!!! Not only did they fix the issue that we brought the truck in for, but they also found the leak and several other items that needed to be addressed in the future, which brings me to the next surprise in quality: each of those issues were written up on separate invoice tickets in order of importance! Everything was explained very well and we feel like the prices were very reasonable. We recommended this shop to our son who had a large quote from Toyota to fix some things on their van...this shop took care of the repairs for a fraction of the cost and they too are very happy with the work done. Having always done automotive repairs ourselves, we now find ourselves at an age where our minds say yes, but our bodies say no. Having said that, we know what good work is and what it isn't. MM told me they couldn't get my car in until the following Friday, which was later than the other shops, but to save a few hundred dollars, my wife and I rearranged our schedules and carpooled that week. We had a trip planned for the weekend, so the timing mattered. We dropped the car off right when MM opened. Later that morning, we received a call raising concerns about a possible severe oil leak. That alarmed us, especially since we had just had an oil change the week prior. We were also told that the technician didn't see any grease indicating a CV axle issue. I expected a follow-up call with more detail. When the representative called back, I asked about the oil situation. He said the leak didn't appear to be significant after all, but if I wanted to get a more complete diagnosis, I'd need to bring the car back another time. That was frustrating, especially since it contradicted the earlier statement that it might be a serious issue, and it implied another visit and additional cost. During that same call, I was told they hadn't yet driven the car. Once they finally did, the technician confirmed the car was shaking, just as I had originally described. That's when I was informed the cost of the CV axle repair would now be $1,600. I asked why the price had nearly doubled, and the representative told me the original quote had assumed aftermarket parts, while this new quote was for original parts. This wasn't disclosed at the beginning, and I wasn't given options to choose between OEM and aftermarket parts, as other shops have done. It felt misleading. When I voiced my concern, I was met with indifference and told I could just come pick up the car if I didn't like the price, no apology or acknowledgment of their communication breakdown. The same gentleman told her she "should've talked to [her] husband before coming in," which was not only dismissive but highly disrespectful. I was shocked by the condescending tone, and it only reinforced my frustration. Years ago, I had positive experiences with Metric Motors. At that time, their professionalism and work quality were excellent. However, it's been about five years since I last visited, and based on this encounter, it's clear things have changed, perhaps due to new ownership or management, as I've seen mentioned in other reviews. She called me a little panicky to try to help her figure out what to do. I called Fowler VW of Norman to ask if they could work her in for a quick check to see what the problem is. They didn't have to go out of their way to work her in on a Friday afternoon with a service department that I'm sure was already full of appointments. Kelvin agreed to make room, and they were able to identify the issue (a loose turbo boost hose from work that had been completed in KC earlier that week). They repaired and had her on her way to Austin in less than an hour. They calmed my daughter and gave her dad a renewed hope in humanity. A situation that was scary for a young girl in a place she was unfamiliar with was handled with grace and patience. We don't live anywhere near Norman - but if I'm ever in the market for another VW I might just make the 5-hour drive to repay the favor. Thanks to Kelvin and the service team at Fowler! For this reason, I don't suspect it was any spillage and is an actual leak given they said they replaced my plug and plug gasket. After jacking up the car to look at it, I suspect the oil filter is not tight enough. When trying to contact the location I went to, the automated system says to contact the store directly, but the number listed for the store is the automated system. When you go through some prompts, the automated system says it will try to connect you to someone who can help, but then hangs up immediately. When trying to contact another location to at least report the issue and see what needs to be done, the automated system transfers you to presumably the store line but nobody answers. I have been trying to contact 2 locations, both an hour or more before they close. Like other customers have stated, the additional fee of $4.99 was not mentioned to me either. Don't advertise a price, and charge me additional without communication! After taking off today, it is very frustrating that I am going to have to call in late to work tomorrow to have it looked at and confirmed it is just a loose oil filter. Rating update pending how the situation is addressed when I take it back.
