    OBS Exhaust repair and reroute

Went this morning for fix a broken weld on an exhaust for a truck I had just purchased. From the start John was easy to work with and understood what needed to be done. After a quick conversation and desire to reroute the exhaust we moved ahead. Quality work and fair pricing. Business like it used to be and should be. Thanks John and team!

Had a custom Y-pipe made for my BMW 330i and I'm really happy with how it turned out. The welds look clean, everything fit perfectly, and there are no leaks or rattles. They got it done fast and treated me right the whole time. If you need custom exhaust work done the right way, I definitely recommend this shop. Recommend paying cash and tip the welders.

I've been here a couple times with two different cars and I'd say, by far this is the best place I've been to. They are very affordable and very friendly. And they are very knowledgeable. I will be taking my vehicles here anytime I need some type of exhaust things done to my car.

These guys do THE BEST work in the area and I know how to identify a good shop because my uncle has had one for over 30 years back in my hometown. I called other places with good reviews and I always kept coming back to Advance Tire & Muffler. Other mechanics even recommended them. That's when you know they are legit. Prices are extremely fair and you will get an honest opinion and a professional job. Jorge is a really skilled guy. John who has decades of experience in this business know his stuff. Don't go anywhere else. I even compared them to the other top reviews ie High Flow, Advance had the best price, gave the most thorough explanation, and offered the best value. I was out of there in no time too. I am sure a place like High Flow is good but Advance was better priced, more knowledgeable, and had the patience to explain.

They responded quickly, were courteous, and didn't try to tack on a diagnostic fee just to take a look. When I dropped off the car, the technician walked me through their process, starting with the bulbs before moving into any potential electrical issues (which I really appreciated.) It ended up being the simplest fix: both bulbs were burned out. They had everything replaced within a few hours. Fair pricing, clear communication, and no upselling. I'll definitely be back for future repairs. Side note- they have the cutest shop kitten. ‍

They said they could and gave me a timeline for working on the vehicle that matched my needs. While I appreciate them getting me in on short notice, they consistently over-promised and under-delivered on when they would be able to work on my vehicle. They were able to diagnose a couple of leaks that they thought were the problem and sent me photos to show me what they were looking at. In the past when I've left my car at this shop for work they sent over a detailed estimate before starting the work, but this time I only received the verbal estimate over the phone. I drive an old car, which isn't worth much, and I did let the person know that I wasn't interested in investing more in repairs than the vehicle is worth. As it was, the two leaks were just over $1K to fix, and I OK'd the work to begin. After fixing the first two leaks, they then came back and told me there was a third leak, which would require a more major repair to the transmission and they would have to have their transmission person (who wasn't there that weekend) send me an estimate the next day. While I understand that it's plausible that the third leak wasn't something they could have originally diagnosed, it felt a bit weird that the photo they used to show me the leak was one of the original photos they had sent before starting any work. If the leak was visible in that photo, I'm unclear why they couldn't have diagnosed it earlier. The added cost of this additional repair definitely tips the scales of worth-it/not-worth-it to repair vs replace this car, so I wish I had had all the information before deciding to make the initial repairs. Unfortunately, despite stabilizing the ATF level, fixing the leaks did not resolve the transmission issue. On a smaller scale, they didn't check or top up the tire pressure, which most mechanics I've gone to have done as a courtesy when working on my vehicle. The day after I picked up my car the tire pressure light went on, and when I checked my tires all four of them had low pressure. It's a small thing, but especially when dealing with expensive mechanical items like cars, the small things matter a lot in creating a sense of security and trust with your mechanic. They did mention that they were under new management since the last time I had been in, which may account for the different experiences.

They called to give me a full report of what they found when doing the inspection and gave me the estimated costs and possible extra charges if they ran into potential issues associated with the kind of fix they were doing. Luckily they did not have to do the extras! The prices were absolutely fair (I did research on the issue and what they charged me was in line with the average cost of the service). Service was quick and my car is running perfectly now. And the biggest thing for me - a long time ago I had to get a very quick fix for a broken side view mirror. The mechanic (not Elite, a mechanic in Philly) installed the mechanics of the power control the wrong way and so the controls did the opposite of what I wanted (moving the knob up turned the mirror left, moving the knob left turned the mirror down, etc.). When I got in my car to drive home I adjusted my mirrors and the team FIXED THIS ISSUE FOR ME! They didn't mention it and they didn't charge me. I'm sure it was a super quick and simple fix on their end, but the fact that they noticed this, took the initiative to fix it, and didn't even take the credit for it - so cool.

The second time, they would not even look at my car unless I agreed to pay them $150 diagnostic fee just to look at the new issues. While I'm arguing with them about their refusal to stand behind their work, another guy brings in his car with 3 new issues he had immediately after his service with them. I just want a mechanic that fixes what I ask them to fix without creating new problems. First time, came for AC repair, oil change, and to fix the rear brake lights. After paying $1,200, I pick up the car and the AC still doesn't work and I've got scratches on the trunk lid, probably from the car wash they took it to. The woman that runs the office insisted that I never asked them to fix the AC instead of realizing that the owner forgot to write down that I wanted the AC fixed. I still have no idea what they fixed for $1,200. I brought it back for the AC work and they buffed out the scratches. Good. But after I picked it up, I started hearing rattling when I accelerated. And later, I realized that the passenger door would only work manually. So, I brought it back to them and they refused to look at these new issues unless I agreed to pay them $150 inspection fee if the event that they decide that they didn't cause the problem. And they could decide that arbitrarily. If a mechanic won't look at your new, after service issues without payment, find another garage.
