from my experience this place is honest, does mostly legit business, and has ok prices, mostly kindof. HOWEVER, the young girl at the front desk has literally almost no idea whatsoever what she's talking about with vehicles and i'm very confused why they tolerate her employment, at all. almost get one star for having to deal with that thing alone. also almost one star for charging SO MUCH for a diagnostics test.. generally you should get a free diagnostic test in real life if you're getting repairs. the repairs are going to be plenty expensive enough as it is. the mechanics are good, a few of them seasoned legitimate champions and will be really informative and helpful. feel sorry for them having to deal with the front desk girl tho. a big plus here gaining them a star is that they will drive you to your home and pick you up when your car is ready if you have no way there. really helped me out doing this once before. one more star for them looking into salvage yards etc for less expensive parts that are in like new condition if you're like the 98% of americans that are barely getting by financially. another huge downfall is their rigid hours...must be nice, for them. i'm retired so it doesn't effect me but if you work a 'normal' schedule you'll find it very difficult to get your vehicle into them if not on a saturday and realistically they may have so much work or have to wait on parts and may not have time on a saturday to accomplish whatever you may need before they close. they close at 5:30 during the week and 4pm sat!! not open sundays. read more

Not a good experience. They weren't willing to honor the warranty repair for their original work-- wanted us to pay for a completely new repair. The person at the check-in counter confronted us about going to a different shop before them (the other shop discovered this warranty repair was needed). We dropped in on them with an emergency on a Saturday - a/c went out on a long hot drive from Austin to Kansas City. Understanding that we needed back on the road ASAP, they got us in, quickly diagnosed the problem and were honest about it - it just needed an inexpensive filter cleaning - and made my family very comfortable while we waited. Ripoff Alert!!! It's hard to find a mechanic shop you can trust and when it comes to Advanced Auto Repair my advice is to keep looking! I was tired of overpaying for service at the dealership and decided to give Advanced Auto Repair a try. I'm so sorry I did. In my case I was overcharged on parts and labor by hundreds. Even compared to Park Place Jaguar! These ass clowns charged me $1,350 for an alternator that the dealer charges less than $900 for. The labor was also more expensive. This is only one example on the horrendous bill I got. I took my Jaguar XF to a legit Jaguar mechanic shop and showed them my invoice from Advance Auto Repair. They were shocked and asked if there was any way to get some of my money back. I took a huge screwing by these guys and I'm embarrassed I fell for it. Stay away. Do yourself a favor and take your car to any shop other than Advanced Auto Repair. I can't imagine any shop can be worse. They are crooks and I'm not sure how they sleep at night. I'm not someone that is angry because my bill was high. I understand that repairs can be legitimately expensive. I'm angry at being so overcharged. This place is great! The staff was friendly and helpful. The waiting area is clean with complimentary coffee, water, soda, and snacks. If you have to drop your car off, and live close, they will offer to take you back to your house so you do not have to Uber. The best part about it is they are a locally owned business in Denton, and support the local community. I am not too happy about the dealership giving me a cheaper quote than a repair shop. I was quoted almost $3,000 to fix an a/c/compressor issue. It is actually almost half that cost from the dealership. Unfortunately, I did not have the luxury of getting other quotes from other shops today because my car was not able to be driven this morning and I had to call for a tow. They are the only service place in Denton that has the same diagnostic computer that the dealers have and their prices are much better than the dealer's. They gave exceptional service and went above and beyond my expectations. I called Advanced Auto Repair in Denton on Wednesday (1/16/19) and spoke with Charles. I told Charles I had some squeaky brakes I needed checked out and repaired if needed. Charles asked if I could bring it in that night. I told Charles the earliest I could come in was Saturday and could be there at 8am when they opened. Charles confirmed my information and set the appointment. I arrived on Saturday the 19th at the scheduled time and was greeted by Jack. I told him I had spoken with Charles earlier in the week and had set an appointment up. Charles over heard and told Jack I had spoken with him and it was for my brakes. Jack and I did a walk around on my Jeep and I described the issue I was having. I handed him the key stating I was running errands, getting breakfast and would be back later. Jack stated it should take about an hour and a half. This was great, things weren't going to take as long as I thought and it was only 8:10am. I called my wife and told her I wouldn't need a ride. I returned to the shop a little after 9:00 to find my Jeep parked exactly where I left it. No big deal because I thought 90 minutes was a little generous. I called my wife and told her I would need a ride after all. I let Charles know I was leaving and to let me know the status. We ran our errands and stopped for a late coffee. I decided to call the shop and see if they had an ETA. It was 11:48am and I spoke with Floyd. I explained who I was and asked if I could get an ETA. He placed me on hold for 9 minutes. When he returned, he explained he had run to the back of the shop (which I assume is pretty far away) and my Jeep is up next. Ten minutes later, Jack called and told me they had actually looked at the Jeep it just hadn't appeared on Floyd's screen (I assume this screen is at the back of the shop). He told me the brakes were still within safety specs, but I had a bad seal on the rear axle. Great, let's get the rear axle taken care. Jack said he would get a price together and call me back. My wife and I decided to get lunch. After lunch I decided to head to the shop because I hadn't received a phone call from Jack yet. I arrived at the shop at 1:10pm to find there was still no price or work being done. Jack took my email and said he would shoot the price over soon. He also said we wouldn't worry about making any payments today and he would just charge me for the evaluation when I get the actual work done. Now I asked the question I wish I had asked earlier, "Will the work get done today?" Jack told me "no", today was only for the evaluation. It was now 1:20pm, 5 hours and 20 minutes past my 8am appointment I had set with Charles. I told Jack to just let me pay for the evaluation, give me my key and I'll be on my way. Jack provided the only positive experience I had by not charging me an evaluation fee I had no idea was being charged in the first place. Jack apologized on my way out and said he would still email me the quote (which as of 3:30pm I still don't have). At this point, the price could be zero and I wouldn't let them do the work. read more

Update: This place has changed dramatically and unfortunately it is not for the best. I would not take a car to them or trust them for diagnostics or repairs any longer and this breaks my heart as it used to be my go to place for any car I owned and a place I could refer my friends too. Left my initial review to compare. This past year I went to them to inspect a BMW we were thinking of purchasing. The dealership and an independent other inspection prior had suggested that there was an issue with the fuel pump. Well Advanced Auto Care couldn't find anything wrong with it and kept my car "continuing to try to replicate the issue" for 4 days, on the 5th day I reported I would like to take it back to return since I was preparing to purchase it. I went in and paid for the diagnostics that showed that they couldn't find anything wrong. AFTER they ran my card, SUDDENLY my car doesn't start they can't figure out what's up, etc etc, so they need to keep it longer. I question if they even tried to look at in the first place but I asked if I'm going to be charged for more diagnostics they say no at this time and keep it. 3 more days of keeping my car and going into their contributed diagnostics they finally handed me a quote for close to 3 grand. Comparing the original quote to this one something didn't seem right.... Apparently magically my clutch is going out, every tire needs replacing, the brake system is screwed. I emailed back the person that I did NOT authorize repairs and wanted to take the car out of the shop. I received the worst service ever in trying to get my car away, they had started to fix things without my approval and I paid (though I shouldn't have) money for this work because I was tired of dealing with the shop. This upset me and I asked to speak to the manager or owner and they were too busy. I have email confirmation as well as verbal calls to them NOT authorizing any work. No one should have to go through this. I did pay for spark plugs oh and for these new diagnostics that were supposed to be free since I had already paid once. I couldn't handle the bullying anymore and wanted my car away from there. Funny that when I took my car that the owner said "he wouldn't let his child drive" to B&O in town, they inspected it, showed me that it was a fuel pump issue and I repaired it there and drive that car just fine now. I was contacted approximately 3 months later by Kim to do a customer service check; she claimed that the technician I had didn't work there any longer and they could see how long I had been going there and that they had reviewed a lot of complaints and didn't want to lose customers. She asked that I email her my communication with the place (I did) and the owner would contact me to learn more. That never happened. I even followed up to make sure he had my information correct - still no call. I hope this review helps someone because this was an amazing store. But that's changed. They want to make money and it seems prey on people, particularly those who they think they can pull one over on and have you pay for what I believe are repairs that do not need to be done, or repairs that are not as vital to the car running as others. They used to help you prioritize repairs, now it's like a game. I took in a car that needed a straight forward repair to run, and I got a drama act and worst of all when I thought they called and cared they didn't. They only star I'm giving is one for the person in customer service because I do think she gave the owner my report I just don't think he cared to hear me. I'm not returning anytime soon, and if the owner sees this review and would like to contact me I welcome that and will update it if contact is made. Until then, as much as possible I warn my friends about this shop that I used to love so much I'd use them exclusively. It's sad because it seems like greed got in the way of actually taking car of customers. Greedy auto mechanics! Our vehicle was towed into highly recommended Advanced Auto for transmission issues. Our service advisor Cindy, followed up 2 days later with the diagnostic test results, quoting approx. 5300-5500 dollars to replacing transmission, reprogram and 4 wheel alignment. That was OEM, brand new parts with warranty. Fixing /rebuilding was "just as much without as good of a warranty". (so what's that saying about the workmanship of the product). DEALERSHIP QUOTED ME 4200.00-- 4600.00. New parts and warranty! I towed the vehicle for a second opinion before finally had the dealership handle the Repairs, not replacement. I'm glad Advanced Auto charged me for the diagnostic test!( THAT WAS COMPLETELY NOT ACCURATE!) PS. Google any other local shop, most will provide a FREE diagnostic testing for your repairs! I went in to get my oil changed here based on the Yelp reviews and they exceeded my expectations. Firstly, I was greeted by EVERY employee as I entered, which just feels nice. Secondly, they were the kindest people ever. Once they finished up with the service, they told me it was free. I was clueless as to why, so I asked and they said their system was down. Longest oil change wait time ever!! Even with an appointment I still had to wait over an hour and a half for a basic oil change, which takes thirty min or less at other places. They do their best to recommend cheaper options for students on a budget, and their used car pre-purchase inspection is very thorough and kept me from buying junk from craigslist. I love Advanced! It is the only repair shop I trust with my car in the Denton / North Texas area. My car has been through the ringer with repairs and they are always more than accommodating to get me in ASAP. Everyone at the front desk is super friendly and treats me like family as soon as I walk in the door. I never feel like I am getting ripped off when I take my car in for a repair. Floyd is my main man and he is always willing to bend over backwards to help me out whenever I need something. I also recently worked with Johnny who I would also highly recommend. First of all, let me say that I am a college student and I am not made of money. But I am so grateful that I found an Advanced Auto Repair coupon in the mail when I was a freshman. I brought it in for an oil change and they let me know what else was wrong with the car, no pressure at all, which is a relief in the auto industry! Advanced Auto Repair sucks, DO NOT GO! One time my car did not work and I knew the problem is on the alternator. The guy told me they could only do entire diagnosis before repairing the car and it cost about 60 dollars(not free diagnosis)!!! I went to several car repairing store before and it was my first time being asked to pay for diagnosis before repairing! They gave a quote that listed three pages of problems my car had. The price was really high, so I left and went other place. By the way, the customers service was not good and all they wanted is money. I would never go there anymore. read more

Had a great experience with these guys. I moved to Denton in January '15, from Syracuse, NY. I haven't gone to another mechanic, besides my guy back in NY for years. My brakes had an issue the first week I got down here. The pedal was going all the way to the floor, and stopping was nearly impossible. I was worried that it may have been a master cylinder, and most auto shops I feel would have attempted to pass it off as that, as its I believe the most expensive brake work you can get. The guys were completely honest with me, in telling me my problem wasn't quite as severe as I thought. However they did tell me the risks of the job could have been damaging, as 13 years of Salt and NY winters has turned my daily driver into a rusty mess. The communication was outstanding, and they pulled the job off without creating any further expense. Finding a shop that will discuss the cheapest options to get your work done, is almost unheard of from mechanics.
