I stopped by Advanced Automotive this morning with my motor home, needing a headlight and a couple taillights replaced. Manager Jeff told me they don't normally work on motor homes, but that he would have one of his mechanics see if they could help me. A sharp young man, Niko, quickly fixed me up. I was very impressed with his professional and positive attitude! So, with no prior appointment, Advanced Automotive took care of my vehicle, and at a very reasonable cost. I put my truck in to have the windshield wipers fixed which I assumed was the motor. It took them 3 days to diagnose it and that was after telling me a specific date to come in. When I went to pick up the truck because it took so long they gave me an estimate of $800 to fix the windshield wipers motor and linkage. To fix the motor they estimated 500 plus and that was after they took off the $186 they charge me to diagnose the issue. I took it in to get the windshield wipers fixed. When I went to pick it up they charged me $186 to diagnose not only the windshield wiper issue but they chose on their own to also check my brakes and something else. I did not give them permission or request to have them do this. I would not have objected to maybe $100 even though my friend diagnosed it was the windshield wiper motor simply by turning on the ignition and he heard no clicking or something like that which meant there was no power going to the box. They said they checked the wiring and the fuse even taking that into consideration I don't see where it would cost $186 for that amount of time. My main complaint is they went beyond what I asked them to do they did not quote how much it would cost to diagnose this and I've heard this from other people that they go in to have something done and they charge for diagnosing things that weren't asked for. So basically I would just warn people if you're going to take your car or truck in you should ask them what it would cost to diagnose it. In addition I had had my brakes just fixed the month before so there was no reason to diagnose it. It cost me $800 to have my brakes done they quoted me 1800. This was just for the rear brakes. read more

I had a recent oil change service at Advanced Automotive. I waited for my car as this is " an oil change". Upon leaving my check engine light came on so I returned. I was told to leave the car which I did so they could diagnose this. Hours later upon return they stated that the check engine scan did show codes. They found the code and upon checking etc , cleared the code. This car is kept in my garage for years as it is a small car. I don't drive it as much and not in the rain. I use a larger car for the traffic congestion now current here. It appears that while it was a sunny day the " test drive" amounted to an additional "46" miles upon the odometer out reading. Obviously, it was used for a "joy" ride. I was not happy as I don't add miles on this car. The city of Stanwood is not that large. I called them about this and the front office response was " that there must be something wrong with the odometer in the car". Really? No, this is not the case I replied. The numbers are on the receipt! I will not return for any work there as I cannot trust them. It appears that Lies and Excuses are so prevalent in our society these days. read more

I scheduled an oil change and transmission service for my Jeep over two weeks ago with Advanced Automotive in Stanwood, Washington. The day for the work was today 8/19. I dropped my car off at the agreed upon time. I checked in with the office and first thing the desk person (incidentally the same one I scheduled the initial appointment with in person in the office) said they only had me down for an oil change. I should have left right then. That told me they are not organized or reliable if they can't schedule the work we talked about properly. The desk person made some calls and of course they couldn't get the parts for the transmission service. It's obvious this business does not value their customer's time at all. The desk person wanted me to leave the car and call me if they could get the parts. First why would I count on this business to do anything properly if they can't even schedule the work accurately? Second I'm not leaving my car in their unsecured parking lot for any random thief to cut out my catalytic converter while waiting on parts they should have had in the first place. The whole thing was a complete waste of my time and now I have to find somewhere else to have the work done. It's unfortunate because I like supporting local businesses but Advanced Automotive in Stanwood Washington will not be a business I support. read more

Josh and his crew are the best! Always willing to help and answer questions. We have all three of our vehicles serviced at Advanced Automotive and although it's dissapointing if costly repairs are needed it's a relief to have them doing the work as we know it will be done correctly and at a fair price. They thoroughly explain what work is needed immediately and if something can be delayed, which is extremely helpful. Our vehicles are older, our truck is over 30 years old, and the advice they provide helps us to make the proper decisions on what to fix now or if it can wait. Our Volvo having idle and transmission issues. It is 20 yrs old so we didn't want to put a lot of money in it. Diagnosed as issues with modules, valves and lots of computer stuff. The electronic systems "talk" to each other, i guess it causes lights and bells to blink on or off. During the entire time we were in communication with Alysia, Jeff and Josh. The repair went sideways and thank you to Josh, we were able to regain the future of the car. It sits back in the carport. Of course we highly recommend Advanced Automotive. read more

Wow, where to start... Above and beyond customer service. Car broke down the day before our wedding and these guys totally took care of us and told us not to worry, that we were in good hands. Boy were they right! Love this place, we were having a heck of a time with our Jeep Grand Cherokee and they fixed it right away. Not the cheapest but what can you expect. They also write a thank you card which is unheard of these days. Only downside is that they're not open weekends and that they don't have much of a waiting room for oil changes. read more

These people are great my next-door neighbor just came home raving about how much money they saved her and instead of running a diagnostic tests that everyone else wanted one to $200 for they handled it in a different manner in which ended up costing her $40 for the quick and easy repair that was really only needed saved her a ton of money and they treated her so good. I'm pretty sure this is also the place where I took my daughters car that got hit a year ago and they basically ended up totaling it out or telling the j insurance company which was what I wanted but the way they handled it was just outstanding. but I'll never forget the great service I got from them looking at their reviews both on Facebook and yelp they have a stellar reputation. I just called them now to get a quote and information on my best friends brand-new Tahoe where the dealership said her struts we're going bad and needs new struts and it was $1600. It's a 2015 Tahoe how could the struts possibly be going out that is a dealership for you even if they are going out which is very odd $1600 is outrageous I just now called advanced automotive asking them for a price quote if they truly are going out how much it would be just to get a price quote and they took excellent care of me over the phone ........so great she asked me to get the Vin number from my best friend so they can get an actual down to the penny price quote. "I'm hoping my girlfriend will take her car from the dealership and bring it to advance automotive I know she'll save hundreds of dollars and I have a feeling they're going to find a whole different problem how could struts go bad after two years seems kind of strange all coming from a dealership the Chevy dealership of course. Although my girlfriend did say that it's running very rough so it's obviously something but I'm hoping for her sake that it's not really the struts even if it is I know that advanced automotive will take better care of her. It will be interesting to see what comes from this. I hope my girlfriend calls them back with the Vin number so they can get her an exact quote because I can guarantee she will save a ton and they may even find out that it's not the struts.......... they were baffled also that how a brand-new Tahoe could have bad struts that the warranty does not cover. The dealership also found out that the transmission went bad so that is under warranty and they are going to be replacing the transmission. Either Elimon car or the dealership is really going to make a good chunk of money off of this vehicle ..........Anyway excellent service every time I've used them and I just have heard excellent service from my neighbors also. They are always on the ball when it comes to giving me a call after the repair to make sure everything is going good and working correctly. My 17 year old daughter owns a 1970 VW bug. She has taken the car to Advanced Automotive twice now. The first time for a tune up overhaul etc. The work was done very well and all our questions were answered with no hesitation. The final bill was well within reason. My daughter recently complained about the brakes in the car being bad. I told her to go to a local national chain store that advertises about brakes being a speciality. She was quoted $1000 and told that all her brakes and parts needed replacing. Since I only paid 2K for the car I thought that was a bit much. I told my daughter to see if Advanced could beat the quote. My daughter went in and told Josh the owner what was going on with her brakes and what the other place had quoted. They kept the car for a few hours and called me back to tell methat the car only needed a brake adjustment. Something that VW's of this vintage need. No replacement of parts was needed. I was advised that the brakes may need some work in a few thousand miles, but no worries for now. The final bill was about $48. My daughter tells me that the brakes work so well now that she barely needs to press down. It's hard to find an auto mechanic that tells you like it is. Advanced could have easily told me that yes, the brakes need work and charged me 6 or 700 dollars. They knew what the other guys price was. Instead they just did what was necessary for a nominal fee and saved me nearly $1000. We will take all our cars to Advanced from now on. No hesitation. Highly recommended. read more

I was a bit apprehensive having had trouble in the past with other Automotive Mechanic services, Josh was quick to give me an online estimate and appointment to service my vehicle, He told me that typically I could have my car back the same day, But it took 2 days,Mainly due to an unseen minor extra repair (A Bad freeze plug) I'm very happy with the service and cost for repairs and will continue to use this shop for future services. My wife loves the restored power of her car, She said it runs better than new. read more

No good. I went there and paid for a diagnostic. They came back with a diagnosis. I went home, replaced the part they said were bad. Problem was not solved. I checked the condition of the old parts, and they were fine. BIG FAT WASTE OF $1,000 (for diagnosis and parts). Went to another shop, and it was something competently different that was wrong. A good diagnosis and parts cost me $124, and the car ran great. I don't think they wasted my money on purpose, I just think they are incompetent. Look elsewhere for anything other than brake pads or oil changes. These guys need to go back to school. read more
