Jim has done his best to be expedient and communicative with us over this latest engine replacement fiasco.

This was the first time in 9 years of owning my car where I didn't leave a mechanic feeling taken advantage of due to my lack of car knowledge. The respect they showed and generosity they extended to me has given me such peace of mind. I will definitely be returning to them for any future car needs!

When I went to pick up the truck because it took so long they gave me an estimate of $800 to fix the windshield wipers motor and linkage. To fix the motor they estimated 500 plus and that was after they took off the $186 they charge me to diagnose the issue. I took it in to get the windshield wipers fixed. When I went to pick it up they charged me $186 to diagnose not only the windshield wiper issue but they chose on their own to also check my brakes and something else. I did not give them permission or request to have them do this. I would not have objected to maybe $100 even though my friend diagnosed it was the windshield wiper motor simply by turning on the ignition and he heard no clicking or something like that which meant there was no power going to the box. They said they checked the wiring and the fuse even taking that into consideration I don't see where it would cost $186 for that amount of time. My main complaint is they went beyond what I asked them to do they did not quote how much it would cost to diagnose this and I've heard this from other people that they go in to have something done and they charge for diagnosing things that weren't asked for. So basically I would just warn people if you're going to take your car or truck in you should ask them what it would cost to diagnose it. In addition I had had my brakes just fixed the month before so there was no reason to diagnose it. It cost me $800 to have my brakes done they quoted me 1800. This was just for the rear brakes.

If you are looking for an expert mechanic that will take the time to answer questions, positively…read morediagnosis issues, and has a level of detail and care in his work, look no further.  Thanks to a referral from a member of the PNW Mercedes FB group I contacted Michelle  over at Gaudiel Service and Repair. This is a veteran owned, family run business with Michelle manging operations and AJ wrenching on cars. They ended up doing a ton of repairs on my wife's 87' 560sl. This car has only 34k miles but like all old cars regardless of mileage, most of the belts, mounts, bushings, shocks, etc were shot. The heating and cooling system was acting up and the car was idling rough. Basically it needed a ton of work.   I was not wanting to take it to any of the shops in the Bellevue area because the overhead and labor rates are ridiculous.  But, more important than cost, most of these shops (having had prior experience with many of them) won't let you communicate with the mechanic. They all have service advisors that shield the customer from interacting with the mechanic.  I get why that makes sense for the shop, but for me, I like to interact with my mechanic. Especially when there is lots of diagnostic time and a significant amount of work needed.  Anyhow, AJ ended up doing the shocks, engine mounts, subframe bushings, rear main seal, a heating and cooling system ocerhaul, transmission shifter bushing, and a whole lot more. Some things, like the heating and cooling system overhaul required that he troubleshoot and repair some complex circuit boards as replacement parts were not available.  He texted updates, shared photos of the problems as they were discovered and took my calls to discuss repair options / solutions, and the take-off parts were left for me in the trunk. Anyhow, yes it was a lot of work and I expected to be expensive (and it was) but I believe it would have been significantly more expensive elsewhere and I know I wouldn't have received the same care and attention to detail. My experience and interactions with both AJ an Michelle left me feeling really good about the quality of work they provided. That to me; feeling like the guy working on your car was not only an expert, but that he cared; is invaluable.

AJ and his wife Michelle are exceptional for their kindness, quality of care, and professional but…read morefriendly manner. From the moment I met them, all of my anxieties about finding a trustworthy mechanic began to melt away. Not only did AJ take care of the issues I was having but was able to help me address surrounding issues and took care of all of it within 24 hours (spark plugs, valve covers/adjustment, air filter, & transmission flush/service). He took care of my 2006 Honda Civic with 310,000+ miles on it as if it were new and it felt even newer once I drove away. If you are in need of honest, friendly, and affordable service I highly recommend.
