I received a few quotes, and after many referrals on a local neighborhood fb page, I decided to call Classic Chimney. The owner came out with one of his employees and spent almost an hour explaining what I needed to get done in order to have a safe fireplace. Not only was he attentive, but his price was cheaper than the previous companies. A few days later they came out and completed the work. They were professional, and respected my property and were very respectful inside my home too. I work from home and they had to pause occasionally while I was on a call.

They gave me the number to Classic Chimney so I gave them a call. He was able to come out that day and inspect the chimney and said I needed a liner. The next day he installed the liner and a chimney cap. I asked him how did he secure the cap and he said that they screwed it to the liner. A few days ago we had some severe winds and rain come through and I heard something hit my roof. When the weather pasted I went outside to see what happened and found my chimney cap laying a few feet away from my car. Some things of note: There was fireproof sealant on two of the four base plating. There were no screws used to fasten the chimney cap to the liner. All there was was a tube clamp holding the cap to the liner. I had to get on my roof today to find out what was going on and why was there only sealant on two sides and not four. Well there is about 1/2" of mortar sticking up and the cap will not lay flat. So they just put the sealant on the other sides that were touching the masonry. No masonry screws were used to secure the cap to the masonry so it would not just move around when the wind got ahold of it. I paid good money for a half-assed job. This could have turned out to be a serious problem. Don't bother with this company...
