I had an excellent experience with Dapper Ducts today - both for chimney and dryer vent cleaning. (You get a discount if you get both services at the same time!) I don't know much about fireplaces/chimneys generally or in our new house, so I appreciated that they talked to me about how the fireplace worked, it's features, and the condition it was in. In particular, they showed me how there was an ash trap (used in the olden days) that had been sealed over. We went down to the basement where they showed me the trap (something I had never noticed before) and opened it - it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in maybe decades. I guess the previous owner figured since they sealed the ash trap, they didn't need to clean it out. But I appreciated that Dapper Ducts cleaned it out - they removed four trash bags of ash! Dapper Ducts was punctual, quick, and efficient, but also great at talking to me about my home and answering all of my questions. I highly recommend them for chimney and dryer vent cleaning! read more

Incredibly poor service. I asked that they remove their shoes or wear plastic covers while walking on our carpet, and they ignored me. After growing tired of running a single load of laundry through the dryer multiple times when only one dry cycle should have been required, we found Dapper Ducts through Yelp and were able to coordinate their visit at the same time as the installation of our new washing machine. This turned out to be fortuitous because the Dapper Ducts technician was not only able to clean out our partially clogged dryer vent pipe, but also make sure that the new washing machine was installed in such a way that it doesn't impinge on the dryer vent pipe and cause another clog in a few months time. The Dapper Ducts technician (Yaniv) was extremely knowledgeable and helped us understand the root cause of the problem and I'm happy to say that our dryer's performance has improved 100%. They took out a bird nest, refused to inspect the inside of the dryer vent, went outside and shoved the nest back into the vent, then glued on the original vents, slapping it on. I have never had such an unprofessional experience with any company. From catcalling my wife, telling her "stay inside, honey," to making a scene cursing in the neighborhood. They graciously answered all my questions and were honest about issues to be aware of and common misconceptions about air handling/duct systems. Yaniv declined to clean my dryer vent because part of it violates building code (flexy pipe run behind drywall-- previous owner's bad choice--and cleaning it would pose a bigger danger in case that poked a hole in the line) but he explained what we should do to make it safe and checked from the outside for nests or visible blockages so we knew better what sort of repair we were up against. read more

I had requested a quote from several vendors through Yelp for Dryer Vent Cleaning and separately for Chimney Cleaning. Yani, the owner, at Dapper Ducts is the only vendor that called back. All the other vendors only responded by email or never responded to my Yelp requests. The appointment was made by phone for the very next day while others could only fit me next month or would not drive to Howard County. Dapper Ducts showed up on time and ready to clean the dryer vents. I realized late the night before that they also did chimneys. So while they were there cleaning the dryer vent, they went right ahead and cleaned the Chimney as well!! Man that saved me a ton of time and from making more phone calls. I had a very positive experience with Dapper Ducts. They were a bit hard to pin down for an appointment time, but it was worth it! They arrived early to the appointment window for a dry vent cleaning. Yani and his assistant were raring to go! They did an internal and external inspection, provided the agreed services, cleared up afterwards and even reset the dryer balance for me. They replaced the worn dryer foil vent for a reasonable additional fee and were on their way after about an hour. Old school service and punctuality! Highly recommend them. We scheduled for 2pm on a Monday, they then changed the appointment time two separate times, including calling at 7am the morning of the appointment, so I had to race home to be there, then they didn't even show up. I hired Dapper Ducts to clean my dryer vent. After Dapper completed their work, my dryer was still not drying properly, so I hired a different company to inspect what was going on. This company discovered that my dryer vent was not thoroughly cleaned. Furthermore, my dryer vent was never attached to my dryer. After the company fixed these issues, my clothes dried perfectly. Wonderful service! They arrived exactly on time and were very knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. I hired Dapper Ducts for an air duct cleaning, dryer vent cleaning, and chimney sweep. (It was not an easy day for such a task - the heat index was 107! - but I had to book them well in advance so we didn't know it would be so hot. They were very professional regardless.). Yani was very communicative so I always knew what he was doing and learned a lot in the process. He came across some issues, like ducts being a bit sunken (likely from previous renovations), and he fixed them efficiently and effectively. When he came across issues that were outside his wheelhouse, he explained the problem and had recommendations for how to deal with them. He also left everything clean (the employee who was with him was new and did not leave all the areas he worked on quite as immaculate, but this seems to be a common issue for contractors when business is booming and it wasn't a big deal). Yani was always very helpful and honest, explaining why some things that other similar companies try to sell are not worth the money (like UV lights). He found some slight evidence of mold in one duct, and although some might have used this as an opportunity to sell me something I didn't need, he did not; rather, he told me the issue can likely be fixed by addressing the insulation in that specific area. Outstanding service from these gentlemen. The owner (Mr. Yani) and his crew came on time, did precisely what we needed, and charged a very fair price. Importantly, they did not try to upsell us on anything. Instead, he pointed out some duct work that we could do ourselves--noting AC ducts in our basement where air was leaking out at the seams. "Don't spend your money on us" he said. "Just buy some duct sealant paste, paint it on, and you'll save a ton of money on your AC/heating bill." Now that's service ! Highly recommended. read more

I had really high hopes for this company based on all the positive Yelp reviews. I called and made my appointment for 1 p.m. on a weekday. At 10:30 a.m. that day Yani called me and said that the crew had to come right then because their morning job was cancelled and it wasn't "cost efficient" for him to keep his crew in D.C. until my 1 p.m. appointment. I do not work close to my house, and couldn't leave the office any earlier. I told him I could not change the appointment time, and he abruptly told me that he would have to reschedule to appointment. Two days later the office called me to reschedule. I was very clear I needed the first appointment of whatever day we chose. I was given an 8 a.m. appointment on a Monday about 3 weeks later. By 9 a.m. no one had showed up, and I had to go to work. When I called Yani he told me my appointment was between 10 and 11 a.m.. I told him I had specifically made it for 8 a.m. (the first appointment of the day), and that no one would be home at 10 a.m. When I told him I was not going to reschedule with his company he simply hung up. I gave this company a second chance after they unilaterally cancelled my first appointment because it simply wasn't convenient for them. What a waste. read more
